One underperformed compared to the regular season while one played arguably the best basketball in his career. Also LeBron was averaging 40 ppg and a triple double up until Iggy was put into the starting line up. The defense and everything improved after. Iggy also got more clutch shots when needed in that series than anyone else on either roster. MVPs are about narratives and the better narrative was Iggys. Without The change Kerr made would they have won???? More than likely not since after the change LeBrons numbers dipped almost 10% FG and 10 PPG. My grandpa was living in Springfield Illinois and was in a nursing home around the time igoudala got drafted, one of the nurses knew I liked basketball (as my grandpa loved it as well obviously, living in Illinois in the 90s made it easy) and she was telling me a story about igoudala bc her son was apparently really tight with Andre. And I don’t know if it’s true or not but she was saying how her son & igoudala went out to the mall one day and we’re just cruising around talking about what was cool and what not and igoudala just bought basically everything his friends wanted bc he appreciated him so much, just brotherly love. was just a cool back story to a player I didn’t know about but to be that few degrees of separation from him made me like him a little bit more as well. Though it also helped that when I played ball my game was very similar to igoudala’s. Good all around, not necessarily looking to score every point but lockdown defender that wanted the challenge.

Better shooter even without the physical gifts, higher percentage finisher even with his height, making more difficult shots at better efficiency, better handles, better playmaker, worse on-ball defender but better team defender IN MY VIEW (seriously, look at the numbers but even just off the eye-test). He's more skilled simply because he does everything KD can do but at 6'3, and he's better still because he does it facing harsher defense and still puts up the same or better numbers. Given that nobody else in the starting lineup could hit even 40% FG nor 30% on 3's (yes, including Klay), it's not as if Steph had a ton of help either. The voters gave it to him because of narrative. When the warriors went down 2-1 iggy started. And then they went 3-0. So it was easy for them to see what changed in the series and the most obvious one is iggy starting, coupled with the fact that he played phenomenal and guarded LeBron they gave it to him. The truth was it wasnt just iggy starting that made them go 3-0. People forget draymond started as small ball center and was arguably more impactful. Warriors were better and faster on offense and draymond smothered LeBron on defense. Steph on the other hand averaged 28/5/6 on 49/45/90 in those last 3 games. And in the series he had the 2nd highest finals 4th qtr ppg of all time. In retrospect it should have easily gone to Curry unanimously. He was their most VALUABLE player and was clearly the best statistically.

Had the Cavs pushed it to Game 7, LeBron is clearly the Finals MVP regardless of the outcome. He was clearly the best player in that series. Historically, FMVP goes to a player from the winning team (except Jerry West). Curry is the best player on the Warriors that series despite the fact that his numbers were down. Iggy impacted the series in a big way but LBJ still got his on low efficiency. I think it was because his entry into the starting lineup coincided with the time the series momentum shifted to GSW making him an easier choice to win. It's like the Cedric Maxwell FMVP over Larry Legend.
