Today I'm going to Walmart to stock the pantry for our family of 10. It's also time to buy spring and summer clothes. I forgot to buy two things and had to go into the store a second time. Then I discovered I didn't make it home with one of my bags so Tom and I drove back to Walmart for the 3rd time shopping in one day! I also show what we bought at our local store during our weekly trips, plus the things I ordered on Amazon, Walmart, Oriental Trading and Gurney. (We're getting ready for a couple of birthdays and to get out garden planted.) As per the many requests, this time I kept the camera going to show the action when I got home.

I believe you have a genius for organization, Andrea! As you were buying the clothing for the children, I thought of the verse, "...Her family has warm clothing..."( Prov. 31:10) I never tire of your shopping videos! It's so heartwarming to see your enthusiastic welcome home by all the kids (and Tom)! You are well loved and cherished.

Wow....what a busy, busy day!! You accomplished so much, I'm sure you were pleased to have all the clothes bought, organised and put away. It was lot to take on in one day, particularly as it was a food shopping day too. But you aced it as usual. l wish l had a quarter of your energy! Some super, pretty, bargain clothes for you and girls too, love the grey fabrics you picked up for yourself. I had to smile, we like Tom's choice of ice-cream, a midnight drive with sweet treats too, sounds good fun to me! My heart was warmed at the wonderful welcome you got from everyone when you got back from shopping! Lovely to see you all, it's my treat to myself on a Saturday. xxxx

I find it really funny that every video someone asks about your girls in dresses. As a little girl my mum always had me in trousers for convenience and as soon as I had a choice I completely changed to dresses because I personally like the femininity. Ultimately mums make choices based on a whole range of things until kids grow up then the kids will take some stuff and leave other stuff! I love a lot of the things you do with your family, keep in keeping on!!

At the end of the video as you're walking out of Walmart I see all those plastic bags at the register. How I miss those. California passed a bill banning plastic bags and now we have to bring our own or pay 10 cents per bag for a reusable one. I ALWAYS forget my bags so I end up buying some. One day I'll remember............one day!

I had thought I'd explain it while I did the screen shots, but it was so noisy in the house I couldn't do it. (The kids were doing chores and the vacuum was running and there was general mayhem.) Anyway, I liked to explain things, too, so I might try to be more on the ball next month and do the order the night before so it'll be quiet and I can talk about everything.

Exactly! I manage several community facebook pages so I open all kinds of tabs to d/l photos to share on them. I suppose I could write down what page it is and go back but why do that when the page is right there and I can simply leave a tab open? hehehehe I will admit, sometimes it takes me a couple days to get around to it though.

Mom of 5, 4 at home, two big ones, two little ones, and I'm struggling to come up with a way to be organized. My biggest issues are lack of storage and too much clutter. I like your idea of dressing the kids simple and in similar things, makes shopping super easy I can tell. For socks how do you keep them all sorted? My kids are pretty much paired off by age, so sizes are pretty similar when it comes to socks. I've finally settled on stitching their initials in the heel of the sock, that way I can tell whose sock is whose. I tried writing it in permanent marker, but that faded in the wash. You shop like we do, once monthly for all the groceries that we need. Although TBH we may end up back at the grocery store for other odds and ends later in the month as we go, or when we decide to have something for dinner that we didn't shop for already. Mostly, we get the staple items that we always know we'll use at some point, esp for the kids, the stuff they they can fix for themselves, like ramen, sandwich stuff, cereal, etc. Maybe not the healthiest diet, but it gets the job done. Walmart is definitely the main store we shop for groceries, but sometimes if we can go to a bulk item store or meat market, we'll do that too. I have to say, your budget for shopping made my jaw drop! If I ever spend that much in Walmart at one time, someone better put me in an asylum.

Always always love your videos!! By the way your attic is a sight to behold! Have you shown it on a video? I am working (slowly)on our storage area in the basement and would love tips! Also I am happy to report that my first ever herbal tincture is done and ready to be bottled!!! WOO HOO! I did Holy Basil. I am so excited! Thanks for the encouragement to dive in and try stuff. It always feels so intimidating to me, but I liked in one of your herbal videos when you said that you can't really mess it up. Would love for you to share about the cyanide cookbook and what you have learned about that. Thanks so much for your videos and taking the time to encourage others!
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Liz, I haven't shown the attic yet. I've been procrastinating on doing my next KonMari video which is when I planned to show how it all came out. I'm so happy with it! Good job on making the tincture; now that you've done it once I bet you'll try all sorts of different herbs. It's so easy to do. I can't even remember how I came across that cyanide cookbook, but I thought it'd be interesting to read. It was probably during one of my research sessions when someone was upset about this or that being bad for us. I like to go in the opposite direction of conventional wisdom as much as possible. :) When we got a virtual reality system (Oculus Rift) awhile back, Tom wanted me to try a game and the first thing I did in the little world I found myself in was to run and jump off the edge. He's like, "What are you doing?!" I told him I wanted to remind my brain that this isn't real and I don't need to be afraid of anything so I jumped head first into the worst case scenario. So much of our lives we're held captive by the fear of fine sounding arguments- salt's killing us, seeds are full of cyanide and are bad for you, etc.- and my immediate reaction is to go find someone who reminds us that it's much ado about nothing. There's so much more joy in life when you can shed all those fearful burdens!
@lizlane6490
@lizlane6490 7 жыл бұрын
Amen Sister! I love that! I tend to go in the opposite direction, too! I started researching the cyanide thing when I saw your cookbook and can't wait to watch the documentary on amazon--free with prime membership- called Second Opinion and it is all about cyanide and it's amazing effects on cancer and the supposed immediate cover up. Yes! I am excited to try more tinctures. And by the way--you had a good word for me about shedding fearful burdens--thanks and you are right!

I know this video is old but i love your shopping videos, did you have to buy a lot of new clothes for this summer ? I love the great and white stripe fabric you bought, it matched the striped dresses. You should do a stripe color day :)
