The soundboard. Loved the way they have the layout tracking to the left, monitor to the right. Same way we had our big Soundcraft back in the day. Very logical way to work.. Nice to see the 2" and 1/4 inch machines in use.. There's room for everything now .

My favorite "part" isn't as much a space in his studio as it is his selection of gear. It is great to see that he is such a proponent of "affordable gear," and that he actually incorporates it into his every day workflow. I also own WA gear (pretty much everything Joe owns). And to see this stuff being used really validates how valuable and useful this gear is, and that affordable gear truly has a HUGE place in music production. Most importantly, as an owner/user of this gear, I feel validated - especially since I do not own high-priced vintage Neve, SSL etc. gear. I really appreciated how the point was driven home that recordings can sound great without having to sell any major organs to buy gear! Lol!

$600 is the DAY RATE? Way back in the 80’s a downtown studio would charge you that for TWO HOURS. These studios DESERVE more than $600 a day. Beautiful place! 🤩🤩

It must be really difficult to make any real money these days with all the studios in such a small area. And giving that so many home studios that can rival the pro output. Though it is really hard for me, I try to remember that 99% of the population has no idea what a good recording or a Good mix is. But we all strive for perfection, sometimes maybe over do it🤣. I enjoy your studio videos a lot. Thanks

Thats how you know your doing what you love....we all say we do it to make money but its funny our money goes right back into more equipment for the studio..lol I remember going to my first recording session Sep. 5, 1998 Forun Trade Studios Lafaytte Louisiana and saw the big mixing console and asked Jerry Lejune "WOW how did you get all this" and he said little by little for many years...Now here I am sitting in my own studio after building mine up the same way over many years and I still always got my eyes on more gear!!! I love it!

Living the dream! Robin Crow invited me into his studio for a month. I was the full blown experience of how modern music is made. Lead Engineer Tim Coyle selected the more commercial songs. Swedish Rockers Graveyard producer selected all different songs. Plus our band really needs to be recorded live and we did it the "Nashville" way. I mean the drums would have like 80,000 edits for each song. At the end of the day the guitar was the least edited. Bass 2nd - but they drilled the bass (sounded F'n great!) - after they perfected the drums they did the bass. Performance meets engineering... I can't tell you how good the bass sounded in Robin Crows big room! Today I want to record those other songs the Swedish guys wanted to hear with no click track and no auto-tune. Then try our best to capture the live sound. The band hasn't played again after the 2008 crash. So preparation is an issue...if and when opportunity comes.

@@mikewallaceguitar2538 I strongly recommend watching "Warm Audio // In The Mix w/ Joe Carrell - EP 22 -The Mixing Process." I believe this is a five-part series. This gives a very in-depth look at how he sets up his tracks, busses, parallel chains, effects routing, processing decisions for instruments, etc. I gleaned SO much from these videos. I actually incorporated A LOT of his overall routing techniques into a record I am currently mixing, and I am extremely content with the result thus far! Plus, the way he teaches is quite interesting and engaging!

When Joe talks about getting some Adam's for the little studio, I noticed he has Mackie HR824's in there. I recently added some Adam A7X to my studio and they sit right next to my Mackie HR824's and to be honest I hear very little to no difference when toggling between them. People bust on Mackie but the HR824 IMO are classics and still can hold up to the new line of speakers today.
