This definitely sounds like someone’s phone audio from the camera filming him. It’s awesome to hear cuz you know he can actually play all of it and it’s not a bunch of triggering and sample replacement. Those switch blasts he’s doing are actually referred to as Dirk blasts (I believe he was the first to incorporate those). David Diepold has a new video on Tama’s channel. Highly recommend as it has a lot of different camera shots of different techniques he incorporates.

Dirk is such a phenomenal drummer, his power, pace, stamina and precision are second to none, it broke my heart when he left Soilwork to join Megadeth, but, as they say, all good things must come to and end... Yeats after, the replacement for Dirk in Soilwork continues to impress me and adds his own tasty flavour to the band. Yes Finally! Dirk is awesome. As a non drum guy, Dirk in Soilwork and Mike Portnoy in Dream Theater made me really start to notice drumming, and are probably my favourite drummers. It's such a shame he left Soilwork, he took the songs to a whole new level(although the other drummers are great too). Soilwork are a fantastic band, and you need to hear more than just short clips of raw room audio of his playing. Here's a great live track with Soilwork from his channel - "Long Live the Misanthrope" kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoTVnqarbNqEj68 It's also just a cam recording though next to his kit, but still great, in a concert setting. That said, a studio recording would also be well worth a listen, and might give you some appreciation for the band, they are melodic death metal, broadly speaking, and they just keep evolving and the vocalist is fantastic too. His development has been amazing, having started only doing screamed vocals, now his cleans are so good he has another band that does 70s/80s style fun rock called The Night Flight Orchestra where he only does cleans, along with the guitarist of Soilwork and Bassist of Arch Enemy.

This dude is WAY too good to play in Megadeth. I love Dirk. I love Megadeth. Soilwork is an amazing band. Their new drummer is great too. But, for the drumming talent that Dirk has...it's being suppressed, by the style of music that Megadeth is. But, I'd take that paycheck too...in a second.
