Your wife reminds me of my mum. My mum, Roman born of Sicillian stock, lived in the Uk for 40 years working as a teacher and married to my dad who was a Geordie. My mum is utterly bonkers in a very italian way. Charmingly so. She is now in her late 70s and retired to the Lazio countryside. We lost my dad recently. It's good that you don't edit her random waffling out. Years from now you'll be able to show people the she was always like this! Non cambiare mai!

It’s pretty easy to understand the need to rant after a long trip, with everyone tired and grumpy! I do hope that after you all returned home, rested and got some much-needed space from each other, Flaviana is able to see that EVs are not just reducing local air pollution, but a part of the effort to reduce climate changing emissions. I drove from Copenhagen to Lake Como again this year and when I drive by myself, I find that I need more break time than the car needs charge time.
@koek11222 жыл бұрын
Thats the thing right. People MAKE it an inconvenience because they don't plan well. I myself don't like driving longer than 2 hours straight. I need a break. So I align it with my ev and the charging. 2 hours is roughly 150 miles. So it goes from 100 to maybe 50.. and then it takes half an hour to charge while I rest. I see no issue with that.

Thank you Andrew. I've just watched parts 1 & 2 at your Italian trip. I have Italian family, travelled to Italy many times in ICE cars before COVID. We took many routes, though mostly refuelling in Luxembourg, it was so cheap. Crossing the Italian boarder I favoured the Gottardo tunnel as it's free, crossing into Italy by Lake Como is beautiful, also the motorways round Milan a great fun! My next trip will be in an IONIQ 5, due to be delivered in November. I nearly bought a Tesla as the driving and charging experience I know, would be a lot smoother driving to Italy. Though I nearly injured myself when I fell off my chair after being quoted the car insurance premium! I got some good tips from your video, thank you. I've been driving electric for near on two years now. When talking to people about the pros and cons of electric cars, I find they fall into two categories, the askers and the staters. The askers I'm happy to have a conversation, they ask question of interest and possibly thinking of converting to an electric car. The staters. I don't engage with. They will ALWAYS have a reason why electric cars are rubbish. Engaging with these people is just a waste of energy.

Flaviana speaks straight from the heart and that is always fresh, gives a twist, new insights cause I can remember once she was talking about the seatbelt and how comfortable one specific had been for her as she describes the usual situation of a woman with her child and how often she has to stop and look for the child, why the Fiat 500 for her had been not a great car cause the seatbelts in the back were useless. It is such a nice combination of british politeness and italian freshness especially when her hands start to speak louder or more than she herself. Love these moments when she comes in from the side and brings total different points of views for example in the A2A heatpump video(s) cause she has different points she looks and cares for then Andrew, quite often most surprising moments and details I would not have thought about. But you whole long distance trip was full of unused battery capacity cause you arrive at quite high SOC and had lots of charges therefore even though you had the ABRP app as your route travel and charge planner that can provide a lot better charging points cause if you have still 42% at the ionity charger left you should be able to reach the next ionity too considering 42% x 60 kWh or more equals about 100 km of range left to make it to the next ionity charger. We have a lot of fun if you both are discussing a topic from all the different pov and considerations that cover something so complex like an A2A heatpump fully - still remember the italian judgement about the Toshiba Heatpump manufacturer support she had called for her basic questions and she had been quite unhappy with their stupid answers to ask you local dealer or workshop to get the answers - which usually offers 5 to 10 brands and is not capable to answer all questions to 1 brand and 1 specific heatpump model.

Regarding the argument of EVs against petrol, some of the perks are beneficial for our kids. Fumes in petrol stations aren't good for them probably. If we're all driving EVs, they won't have to breath in so many particulates from cars travelling around us. Having breaks every few hours means safer driving as we're going to concentrate better and be less tired. An EV is generally safer as lower center of gravity and no engine taking up crumple area. I'm sure there's more. Think of the children! :D
@joemcnicholas86872 жыл бұрын
I drove my EV from UK to the Alps. I love my EV but agree with Flaviana that EV charging is still inconvenient. Stopping to charge revolves around the car & placement of super fast chargers on the route. If there were banks of 150+kW chargers along all the motorways as commonly as petrol, it might be much better. If we can drive from 80/90% down to 10/15% EVERY time it would be great. But you have to stop to charge tactically - sometimes when the battery is still as high as 40%. I’ll be happier when I’m charging at 1MW and it takes 5 mins to get 200+ miles of range.

Unfortunately, much (definitely not all, but a significant portion) of that particulate matter comes from tire abrasion, meaning that the real way to solve the issue is to reduce tire abrasion.

As ever, informative and very amusing. Mr and Mrs EV are charming and a great double act in KZbin entertainment, although it has to be said that Mrs EV was obviously tired and consequently rather impatience towards the end of the trip. Bless her. I sort of understand, but do always have the bigger picture in my mind, at all times. Every little cut in CO2 emissions counts to help the global problem … and even now in the midst of the energy crisis EV’s are still significantly cheaper to run … and even if you are a very impatient business person on the road every day, who only ever charges at public charging points, you will still get subsidy from your company or, if you are self employed, you will get a healthy allowance against your tax liability from HMRC. I rest my case 😊

It’s very interesting and mr Till is really informative about the car . We should get delivery of our ionic 5 in December.

@@MrEV we are lucky enough to be in a position to buy the ionic 5 I’ll maybe ask you for advice as opposed to Hyundai if I have any!😀

@@MrEV hi Andrew, we are preparing for our ionic 5 and have watched some of your videos, my question is what is in your opinion the better payment method that covers the majority of chargers? Mobile phone app or RFID? Many thanks peter.

Wow Mr EV, that was the Rant😮. I understand her comments and I think if you could charge less time but more frequently it would have been less noticeable. Though I see your family often delayed your departures anyway. I recently did a 5200mi road trip from California to New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and back using 1899kWh (from chargers) so figuring 92% efficiency which matches what I see I had 335wH/mi or 3.0mi/kWh. That was with a Porsche Taycan, average freeway speed 78mph. Surprised on your efficiency. My average fast charging stop was 16 minutes.

The Taycan charge speed is insane! Beautiful machine - and what a stunning journey you did. Did you have any issues? I hear some horror stories about Electrify America.
