Great, but slightly sad video. I agree with you, and I'm similar outlook. A good transaction is where all parties are happy. You were happy with the price you sold, and they happy with price they paid. Everyone can sleep at night knowing they haven't ripped anyone off. If only more people were as decent as you, the world would be a much nicer place. Best wishes to everyone.

Great video Andrew, really appreciated the detailed costing, also appreciate your integrity over not wanting to “profiteer”. We need to remind ourselves that a lot of these issues are only 1st world problems: I don’t have an Ionic any more, I’ve only got a Tesla, is a complaint many people would happily settle for! My EV is only a little SEAT Mii, but I love it and try to regularly remind myself that I’m fortunate. Keep up the good work!

Recently test drove a Model 3 and was expecting to be blown away like oh this is why people think Tesla is the best and tbh I wasn’t that impressed it didn’t seem any better than other electric car I’d driven. Wasn’t a fan of the single everything through the one screen, much prefer a Polestar 2. So instead I got a Fiat 500e lol I’m in love with the little thing. 😍🤣

Model 3 has hype because tons of people have never driven any other electric cars aside from a tesla so they can compare.
@David-bl1bt2 жыл бұрын
@@DanielRomero well, I had 2 ev's prior to getting the Tesla. Yes, the minimalist interior isn't to everyones taste, the all-in screen you get used to very quickly (hardly need to use it on the move, voice commands take care of 95% of input) but as EV's go it is the best at what it does, easy to drive, efficient, and anxiety free. I did a 3800 mile round trip to the costa del sol earlier in the year, no tedious route pre-planning to designated charging stops (with plan b & plan cvbackup plan), just got in, set off and drove exact as I did in a petrol car, no anxiety, no charging woes, no apps requiring your personal data, no issues whatsoever with the car, just a very pleasant relaxed fuss-free experience. If you do such a trip in your fiat (perfect car for local and city environments) or any other EV, you will then appreciate the difference a Tesla makes to your mental health and journey enjoyment. A 300 mile stressful trip down south in a previous EV was enough to trigger me changing to a Tesla.

Hi Andrew, I have been thinking a lot about this situation and realising I would have found it impossible to make a profit given I would have divulged the settlement needed from the PCP. I understand market economics; it is my issue I know, but I would have found it very difficult to do. Perhaps I would have tried to clear the PCP first with a bank loan. This way I wouldn’t have needed to divulge my outstanding balance. I’m not sure if this is even possible. If the buyer obtained a bank check made out for the asking price to be paid into your account, then you transferred the balance needed to your loan account, holding back the profit in your current account? maybe I would have explored this option. Either way, it worked 😊

@@MrEV I understand the hesitancy. "The satnav is not as good as Tesla" is a bit of an understatement. My conclusion so far is more like "rip out, start from scratch, nothing to salvage here." - honestly, it's the worst nav I've had in any of my cars yet.. and that includes a Golf1 with a 10 bucks ancient TomTom from the pound store. And I'm not only talking about the lack of charger planning. It get so many things wrong that other manufacturers have solved for ages. Like trying to circumvent a 2 min jam on the Autobahn by sending me 30min across various tiny farming villages with barely asphalted roads. Or constantly announcing which turns I should NOT take, because it has no clue about what the main road is. "In 300 meters, keep left." - of course, the lane right goes into a parking lot. All the time. Keep left. Keep left. Keep left.. at every tiny off ramp into houses or parking lots etc.. where every other satnav would just have told me once "stay on A8 for 65km"

too hot? I got the celiing shades from the tesla accessory shop, they really halp in the summer, and they are super light, and I just keep them in the frunk in the winter. I'm sorry for your loss ... ;-) It felt like a grieving video... but the Tesla is great also.

I like the Ioniq 5 as well, I just don't fit in it is all. My head rubs the roof front & back which was very disappointing. But then Hyundai Australia they also are doing the drip feed lottery system every month about 100 cars they put out and they sell out within a couple minutes that is only the capital cities as well any regional areas forget it. So BYD with the new Atto 3 bringing in 1,000 on first shipment just outsold Hyundai in one shipment never mind thousands more coming. Well hopefully in future once other expenses are taken care of you can get another one even if you have to wait 12 months still worth it.

Thanks for the great video Andrew. It's a shame you had to sell the Ionic 5 (for a Tesla??), it is the car we are thinking of but the boot seems shallow for a large (ish) dog. We have 2 Golden Retrievers and there is no (affordable) EV estate around that has good boot space and easy entry. Looked at the MG 5 - too small. Your thoughts on the boot space & alternatives? Looking forward to your next video with Flaviana.
@mattpreston68272 жыл бұрын
We have two foxhounds and both fit nicely in the boot. You’d struggle to get crates in though, if you need them
@MrEV2 жыл бұрын
I agree, it is quite shallow. My wife's sister has a black lab which fits okay. The ID.4 and Model Y boots are (from memory) larger so worth looking at if you haven't already.

Sad that it has gone but looks like you made the right choice and it's great you didn't lose any money. Be curious to hear your thoughts on the XC40 Recharge, Polestar 2 and the Audi Q4 etron... I've shortlisted those with the IONIQ 5 for next year and having a really tough time deciding. For some context, I'll be a family car - myself, 2 kids and also a highly opinionated non-UK/Irish wife.

I’ve had a 5 Ulimate for just 4 months and frankly I don’t care much for cheapo build quality Apart from the 5’s HUD and internal dimensions nothing else is remarkable and no way “Ultimate” so we’re selling and ordering a Q4 Etron 40, more expensive but much less “naf”
@ians33282 жыл бұрын
Had a XC40 recharge for a year now. Very happy with it. Compared to this video it is the right size to fit in UK car parks and has great Sat nav that does find charge stations fir you. Check insurance cost. Volvo being a standard car is cheap to insure. £400 a year less than a Tesla. So I can live with less mileage. Most reviews keep harping on about a ground up EV design. Not so clever when they cost lots if in a bump.

Ah, sad but great you made a polite profit just enough so you can live with yourself...but maybe not Flaviana for a while?! 😁 We just had our old Roomster written off so we've got an ev sooner than we thought possible. We found we could afford a used Ioniq 38kWh, beautiful Pearlecent blue. We're just in the process of learning which chargers work best etc. no drive for a home charger No sooner had we got it (bearing mind I want to get an MGZS eventually for the range and boot space) than we got invited to a family do near Banbury in September. Now frantically trying to work out ABRP . Can't quite fathom how to get it to plan the journey so there's enough % left to do local run abouts when we're there and then to find a charger to go home. At the moment it's getting me there with 12-15% which is making me nervous. 😂 I know it shouldn't and I'm sure we'll have relaxed a bit by then. If not I seem to understand ZapMap. Acquiring it in a heatwave is not the best because the air-conditioning eats electrons, as you know! So is the Tesla the replacement? I seem to have missed you getting that...but it could be my memory...or has Mrs EV got her eye on something else? Looking forward to your next offering as always.👍👏

Not sure why you´ve sold the best EV out there, or at least the coolest. Maybe i need to watch some vids before. Anyway in the future you will remember the head turner AKA Ioniq5 and you´ll get some smile in your face. As usual good vid from Andrew Till.

Thank you so much for the videos Andrew. I am new to the channel and it's 2 am and cannot stop watching these videos. Can you please tell me which one would you pick Tesla or a Hyundai? I am in between buying them Tesla long range is £57 and the Hyundai full package is £53k. Thanks
@MrEV2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's a really difficult choice because they're both pretty fantastic. If you plan on doing a lot of really long journeys, I'd not hesitate to get the Tesla. The Supercharger network (and, crucially, the way it integrates with the car's sat nav) makes things just so much easier. In a couple of years things will be easier but right now the IONIQ 5 does mean you're at the mercy of our infrastructure which isn't always great. Would you get the Model 3 or Y? Boot space is much larger in the Model Y than IONIQ 5. All Teslas have some great things like Sentry Mode, and Dog Mode. However... IONIQ 5 is a more comfortable ride (the Model Y is particularly harsh), the open cabin is beautiful, V2L has been a life saver (well, fridge saver!) during power cuts, it charges faster than the Tesla - even on old 50kW chargers (it sustains top charging speed for longer), it has CarPlay and Android Auto and... let's be honest... it looks way better!

@@MrEV Honestly i am blown away by the comment and the attention to details, so thank you :) I am single guy no dogs or kids so i want something that is fun to drive same time don't wanna break the bank you know, especially with everything going on right now. The tesla is more expensive you do have better apps like Netflix and youtube that IONIQ 5 does not have :( I wish they provided built in apps like tesla, but like the warranty on the IONIQ is longer than tesla and better built quality from what i heard and seen online. It does look better i do agree. I am thinking of getting the "namsan" trim which is the latest one.
@behnamanisi12 жыл бұрын
quick question when you are doing motor way miles or going through country road is the car easy to accelerate and etc , they keep classing it as " family car" which kind of put me off but it is very good looking, the Tesla looks like a frog lol
@MrEV2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, the build quality of Teslas is far better now. The warranty of Hyundai is a massive plus, I agree, The Namsan trim seems fantastic! Having Netflix and KZbin in the Tesla is good if you're sat for ages charging although we never ended up using them!
@MrEV2 жыл бұрын
It goes like a rocket in Sport mode! The Tesla is faster though - it's more "take your breath away" speed. And yes, the Tesla is very frogesque!

Hey Andrew ! Curious to hear how you would compare the TM3 and IONIQ5 trunk space / practical use now that you've migrated between them. I do see the IONIQ5 as much closer from a super practical family car despite a shallow boot but I wonder if you would confirm that now.

We'll certainly mention that when we take the Model 3 to Italy.
