Ok, I just did this same replacement. First of all, I love the Android head unit! But, be ready to do quite a few tweaks. First - my A4 has factory rear amplified speakers. Without a line level install, the rear speakers won't work. The antenna connector included in the box wasn't right. Next, most of the head unit settings take some time to manually set up. This video makes it look like the Audi settings were ready out-of-the-box. The face plate is a little bit too big and causes the buttons above the radio to get stuck - mild shaving will be required. Finally, storage space gets eaten up fast. Be sure to consider sd cards for extra space. Still a great addition to bring newer technology to an older car.

Thanks for your comment. I've purchased this radio myself yesterday but havn't installed it yet. My A4 has a Bose system and the seller said that this radio would support this. Could you be more specific about that line level install? Do I need to do this, and how?

@@Emielrwb Take a look at this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4amZqenasmKobM . There are great details that cover both the rear-amplified only as well as the Bose front and rear amplified systems. Another note of caution - take a bit of time to look at your wiring harnesses. In this video the RCA line out's are labeled as such. On my wiring harness that came with the radio, they were mislabeled "line in". I did have the same experience as the guy in the video where my left and rights were also crossed despite the wiring diagrams. That's a simple fix of course.

I put my RCA’s mixed up and what I did was I put RR with FR and so and so and they work perfectly fine, but it’s still really low on bass and my front tweeters sound like if they were blown

The "shark thing antenna" on the roof has normally nothing to do with the GPS on B7 (nor the B6), rather, it states that the car either is "phone prepared" or "phone equipped". The Orange/brown/yellow-ish plug you disconnected and beleived to have to do with the GPS is the "divercity antenna"-plug. That is in simple words, the system that tells the stereo wich of the three radioantennas to use (it should be using the one with the greatest reception o.c.. ). To not use that, in the ways of not getting a adapter to get it to work, will resault in worse radioreception.

@@nicholasporada5619 I didn't have luck with it. First of all the radio was made in China so the first problem I had with it was the volume knob. It would not recognize that you're turing the volume up or down 50% of the time. Second of all rear speakers wouldn't work with this aftermarket stereo because they're amplified and the way they're wired from the factory is as subwoofers. So the wiring is set up different than other cars. In order to get the rear door speakers to work with this aftermarket one was to run wires straight from the radio to doors and I was like I'm not messing with it. So I removed it and put the oem radio back on.

I like it. I don’t know that sound is improved over the stock unit but I really wanted Bluetooth and hands free calling and there wasn’t an easy way of doing it

It has some settings to tweak audio. I can't tell any difference over the stock unit, better or worse. Definitely playing with the equalizer helps though.

I have a Kenwood HU and it does definitely sounds better than stock, but I really want to install an Android headunit. That is why I asked. I am kind of concerned about sound quality, bit of an audiophile. I have replaced the stock amp and sub, want to replace the headunit now, and then the speakers.

Hello... congratulations on such a great video. I have followed all your instructions and recommendations to upgrade my Audi A4 stereo, and everything looks and works really nice, but the only thing that Im having a hard time with, is how to set the unit to display the AUDI star up screen that you present in the video. Please let me know if I have to set up an additional feature or upgrade the unit with a specific firmware to get that initial screen. Everything el is really good... Thanks!!!!

Great video, thanks! I am getting ready to install an android 8.1 in my A4 and there is not a whole lot of direction from the manufacturer (as I'm sure you noticed). However on the amazon listing it states something about the FR/out FL/out RR/out RL/out on ISO harness needs to connect to FR/out FL/out RR/out RL/out on RCA cable, otherwise the rear amplified speakers won't have sound. I have RCA outs on the harness that came with the head unit, but where are they suppose to connect to? Did you have issues with rear speakers not having sound? It didn't look like you connected the RCA's on the harness to anything in the video. Is this a an additional adapter I need to purchase? I'm not even clear which is the ISO harness, is that the harness that comes from the vehicle, or the harness that is included with the head unit? Any help would be appreciated.

I just tried to install an Xtrons unit similar to this one and got no sound at all-- not sure about what I'm supposed to do w the RCAs...it's strange because the OEM unit had no RCA cables/connections, all you had to do was to connect the car harness to the head unit.

You tweak the EQ setting to the best bass settings (look it up on google) just type in bass settings for EQ. Then on your music app turn up the bass in the Equaliser

Can you check AM? If there’s any Radio region settings for Japan (76 - 90 MHz and 522 - 1629 kHz 100 kHz step for FM, 9K step for AM), Australiasia, Philippines, Guam, Saipan 87.5 - 108 MHz, 531 - 1701 kHz 100 kHz step for FM, 9 kHz step for AM), etc.

So I have a 2004 A4 1.8t. It has the front loading 6-disc CD/radio/cassette, which no longer works. Would you recommend replacing it with 7" Android DVD Multimedia System - Wi Android Auto 9. I know it's an old car but it my dad bought it new and drove it till he passed. Then my mom daily drove it till she passed. And it's now my daily. However, I am slowly working on making it a modern car. So far I've got it running like new. Interiorwise I have had the dagging roofliner and the original climate control sorted. I'm also looking at replacing the plastic "wood" interior bits. Sadly the interior is grey so piano black is not an option. Any suggestions? BTW I am looking at wrapping the exterior in a black and subtle body kit that suits the 4.2 V8 engine from the S4 at the time.

Not enough USB ports. Only two on my model (Xtrons MA80A4AL). If you want DAB+ that's one, if you want TPMS dongle that's two, if you have different model with three usb ports, and want to connect Android Auto / Carplay dongle that's three, now how do you connect phone by usb? Poor design in my opinion. Needs more USB ports, at least four if you want all accessories and phone cable connection to connect at same time.

Everything is still working. Bluetooth stays connected but phone call quality is poor. Streaming music is fine.

No sound. After finding the correct configuration of this mess they sent no sound whatsoever. Powered up (didn't say audi) Btw, maps worked but slow. Steering wheel controls worked, KZbin worked just no sound at all. Pretty slow to power up and slow on the touch screen. Reinstalled the old original bose and all good. Apparently if you have the bose system you'll need line converters and you'll have to swap pins in the mess of connectors. What a mess this was to purchase.
