Have u actually tested any of their flagship cameras for yourself comparing with others? I have tested the s7 edge camera and the z5 premium camera side by side under good lighting and low lighting conditions and I'll tell u one thing for sure don't be deceived by what u hear or read from some of the mainstream media. The s7 edge only beats the Sony in low lighting conditions and that's cause it has the better hardware. There's something alot forget and that is the Sony has a far wider angle lens which has its own problems when cropping images, this wide angle lens it seems Sony hasn't perfected the software and focussing especially if u don't tap.tattoo focus on the image to get the best results especially when cropping. If your not the kind who actually cares about cropped images then I can tell you from my tests u will get far better colour rendition and better exposure from the Sony in good lightning conditions. For best results in general use the 4.3 aspect ratio like is available on the s7 standard. One thing I'll tell u for certain is that the Samsung oversaturates colours like red and blue extremely. From the tests I conducted it portrays reds and blues as too vibrant and far from reality. Tested this my self when comparing both cameras, any one who believes what some of the mainstream media says without actually testing it out side by side is a novice really.

Samson Okoro I've compared the Z5 with G4/V10 and S7E, and even the Nexus 6P. I used to use the Z1 and Z2 as well, and to be completely objective, the photo on all Sony phones that I've tested are worse that other equally-classed Android phones in normal and good lighting conditions, not to mention low light.

I used to have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. At the time it was a great phone and it lasted exactly two years. The day that our contract was up the speaker went out when you talked on the phone but you could put on speaker phone and still use it.

I have the Xperia Z5 compact and it takes excellent video in 4 K and still photos aswell. With an expandable memory of an additional 200 GBs. Long battery life and works well on even a weak WiFi signal so I'm good with this phone.

Yea the 650 is more powerful than the 808. It's even up there with the 810 in some cases. The single core even beats the Samsung s6's ex7420. The problem is that this is a CPU for phones in the $200 price range (eg xiaomi note 3 pro) making this phone overpriced as hell

This seems to have been a calculated decision, much like the flagships that shipped with the 808 during the 810 debacle like the G4 (which retained premium flagship pricing mind you). While the 820 is in no way as bad as the 810 I believe it can exhibit thermal throttling, so I if I remember correctly the 650 can deliver more consistent performance, and as we saw here is snappy enough for pretty much anyone who doesn't get into benchmark passing contests. I also don't understand the pricing complaints. This has everything that makes it a flagship phone, with all the bells and whistles (QHD doesn't count, that's arguably pure gimmick) besides the processor which could also be a benefit, and they did knock approx. $120 off what many other flagships have retailed for when new in recent years. Wasn't the S7 like $669 at launch? I think that scales well with the processor change, and think it's actually pretty reasonable. I'm excited to upgrade my ageing Z2 to this.

Great review. And looks like Sony still has not resolved the overheating problem when using the camera. Auto shuts down (camera) when the phone is overheating. Previously owned a Sony Xperia Z3 and had an overheating issue when using the camera at random times and would auto shutdown the camera. Now Sony has this Xperia X and "still" has the problem. Great phones however they need to fix this overheating issue.

I don't think Xperia z line is dead. Because Sony mobile CEO and Xperia z5 designer already said Xperia z6 won't come out until late 2016 when asked at IFA 2015 if z6 would come out in early this year. I still have Xperia Z3 and I can't say a bad thing about it. Everything works perfectly. Can't find any reason that would make the upgrade worth it... why do I need better specs if everything works perfectly already? For photography I'm using a DSLR anyway.
