This song went to #9 on the Billboard top 10 charts in 1970. Right up there with the greatest classic rock and R&B artists of the era. Says a lot about the diversity of music back then. The song (music ) is from a huge hit movie at the time called "Love Story". Lyrics were eventually put to it, Andy recorded it, and the rest as they say is history. "Maria" by him from the movie "West Side Story" will melt your heart.

This is the theme song from the 1970 movie called “Love Story”. Like this song, a beautiful movie ( it a sad movie too😞). My Dad really like listening to Andy Williams back in the 60’s and 70’s. It wasn’t the Christmas season unless he had an Andy Williams Christmas album playing either! 😁

You gotta see the movie, "Love Story" from which this song was drawn. Ryan O'Neil plays a rich but average student who is challenged by poor but smart Ali McGraw, who works at Harvard's magnificent Widener Library...or maybe it was Radcliffe. In time they fall for each other...and that's all I'll say. Unlike many movies, this one is actually filmed at Harvard, which is kinda romantic in the snow.

Theme song from a very famous movie Love Story with Ryan O'neal and Ali McGraw (who steals the show), and it's in my Top 5 best old crooner anthems for me. "A Time For Us" by Johnny Mathis (many many people have recorded it but I like his the best, and Mr. Williams track is so good too) from Romeo & Juliet is another Top 5. I remember that in 1968 Andy Williams had a hit with the 19th century song Battle Hymn of the Republic (Glory, glory, hallelujah). It was recorded during the funeral of senator Robert F. Kennedy, who was murdered five years after his brother, President John F. Kennedy, was killed. I was not yet 10 years old, but was impressed by the music.

In 1970 some (54) years ago. Author Erec Segal wrote a semi auto biographical book about the love of his life who had succumbed to cancer at a young age titled "Love Story Where do I Begin." They turned the book into a blockbuster movie starring "Ryan O'neal and Allie McGraw" titled "Love Story." Then came the song of the same name written by Danny Nikk Might and Bell Merrell and sung masterfully and beautifully by the king of the movie themes. Legendary crooner the late great Andy Williams. Later Andy Williams will host his own weekly television show titled "The Andy Williams Show" on NBC. The rest as they say is history. Florida USA.

But, I’m 77, and this music seems old even for me.
