Thank you for posting. This was somehow calming to watch. We need more quality classics on YT :)

I think this is the best adaptation. The actors are perfect for their roles and so sad the despair of the mother wanting her son to return.

Brilliantly filmed, the most chilling version of this story I've ever seen on film, I remember watching it on channel 4, I taped it and played it to friends until it wore out and eventually found a bootleg dvd (sorry) online, superb acting and the whole colour palette adds to the overall mood and claustrophobic feel, brilliant job...

The solid acting makes this horror story succeed. This is one of the best live action versions I've seen so far of Monkey's Paw.

Many thanks for the upload of this brilliant adaptation of a brilliant story by W.W. Jacobs which is probably one of the most anthologised short stories in the English language. I remember watching this film on Channel Four about thirty years ago with my baby daughter cradled in my arms. Best wishes Villiago

I remember watching this in school and it freaked me out. Especially when the ghost of the son comes back and is beating on the door to be let in. This version doesn't end like I remember. He comes back beats on the door and is screaming. When they look out of the window the porch swing is going crazy. His parents fight over the door. The father wishes his son back to the grave.
@bat_mobile754511 ай бұрын
The best part is the author never specify what was behind that door. An unknown entity invited by the White's grief for their son, even Mr.White described the visitor as "It" not "My Son"

@@andygb2000 I had no idea. You managed to get some well-known actors involved. I had been looking for it as a Tales Of The Unexpected episode, as a Hammer House Of Horror instalment and as part of other series like Dead Of Night, not knowing it was a stand-a-lone piece. The image of the swinging gate in the early autumn morning stayed with me.

The last one with the hairdresser was one of my favorite repos, although I don't think it was necessary to pepper-spray her. She opposed no physical threat to them, and they can't just pepper-spray someone just because she refuses to give them the keys to her car.

For those of you who are puzzled about the ending, the son was mangled. When he came back because the mother was desperate to see him, the father realized their son would be returning in a mangled state. The father didn't want his wife to see their son terribly mangled. This the third wish.

die geschichte war auf deutsch in einem reclam heftchen in den späten 70ern und sie war sehr gut durchdacht. it was perfectly thought about to make sense. if anyone of my school had written a non realistic story, the end was alwas "there was a noise, i woke up. it was the alarm clock and all had been a dream!"

There is a Nepalese folklore originating from Mustang. It's about a mummified monkey paw that posses special powers to fulfill the wishes of the one who owns it. A movie by the name of 'kagbeni' (कागबेनी) was also made.

@syteanric Жыл бұрын
The whole character of Morris could be discussed. He comes across as strange, we have no idea what his wishes were but I would surmise his 3rd wish was to pass the horror onto another. The paw leads him to the most naive people he knows... he doesn't try and stop them from taking the paw, but also warns them. He knew full well what he was doing. His motivations lie both with his inner desire and the paw's power The first man wished for death which is how Morris got the paw, I wonder if he killed the man to fulfil his wish
