Andy every time you strip gear cogs on your rear wheel cassette gears, you need to replace the gears & replace the chain before it begins to wear out the large chainring on the cranks. The reason it's stripping teeth is because the old chain has been stretched where it does not fit properly into the rear cogs on the cassette. Before adding a new chain, strip it clean with engine degreaser & on low heat on the stove liquefy some household candle wax in an old pot you will never use for food again, once it's liquid take off the low heat & add to a clean old glass coffee jar 1/3 of the jar, add another 1/3 Paraffin Oil to the melted wax, add another 1/3 of Xylene & stir. Empty out your old pot of wax into a separate container for use at another time. Put in your chain into the pot & pour in some of the 3 part mixture of Wax, Paraffin Oil & Xylene into the pot to cover the chain, heat on low for several minutes then take out, hang up & wipe down. Put your chain back on your bike, the 3 part mixture can be put into a squirty bottle to use as a bike chain oil for when you need to touch up your chain after washing from going out in the mud. The wax, paraffin oil & xylene act as a lubricant & waterproofing that prevents chain stretching & improves the longevity of your chain to get around 9 times it's normal use if you just used oil so it will save loads of money in replacing chains & cassettes all the time if you take care of your chain which you are not really doing.

I am surprised that you don't do a fat bike, ebike. That would give you more convince and safer on loose surfaces but it would be more weight. I love my fat bike, ebike but for regular riding, I do get worn out faster but I also get more exercise, which is why I am glad I got it. I love being able to use the motor to an appointment and not being sweaty and then ride it like a regular bike back home, for a workout but yet have the motor to help with hills or getting across roads faster. I get cut off all the time, so the motor is amazing for getting up to speed, while being in top gear. I love my bike and I can be upset about something but the ride will make me happy and I forget what I was upset about or at least help me figure out a way to get through the problem or at least help pull me through the problem.

also 4kw = 5.36409hp in case anyone's interested.
@markifi5 жыл бұрын
that's a good pace for something with only 5 horsepowers.
@FlyingFun.5 жыл бұрын
5 hp is not much by today's standards but think back to early motor car and even some planes flew on not much more than 15hp which is crazy. We are addicted to power in our cars etc these days , would be better to build more efficient vehicles which can perform well with less power, keeping it lightweight and thin tyres would make cars more efficient but of course that comes at a price safety wise.
@markifi5 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingFun. I share this sentiment, I was always fascinated with streamliner motorbikes for example, also, some Indian made scooters consume very little. I think it would have been much nicer if some time during the last century we would have prioritised railroad freight transport ten-fold, and restricted trucks to some ridiculously low speed to discourage their use, then we could have stayed with very light cars for transport and same lots of fuel. (I'm thinking 300 kilos instead of 1500, and 1 litre of consumption in 100 km-s instead of 7) Now that we are moving towards electric cars, efficiency is going to be a non-issue. I suspect cars are going to be even more heavy and robust, but with electric it won't matter whether you consume 10 kWh/100km or 20kWh/100km, so everyone can just use hummer sized monsters and be safe from each-other.
@FlyingFun.5 жыл бұрын
@@markifi electric is so new relatively that's really it's not clear what the true cost of running them is, electric isn't free unless it's produced via solar or wind etc which most of it isn't yet so I would think efficiency in electric will become more important as time goes on maybe? Just think if everyone was running electric vehicles how much energy would need to be produced in order to charge them all up when we get home from work.... An extremely efficient car with a really good solar panel could make a LOT of sense combined with solar panels on house roof and power banks to store the energy.
@markifi5 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingFun. ah, well, we'll see. Unless the current shortages of batteries keep being a problem for decades then I see that being a problem, but I would be surprised if people would be willing to give up perceived extra safety and comfort up for efficiency. Autobahn 200 km/h electric G wagons are the future of mobility.

Yeah, the Bafang Ultra is a great motor and the frame I’m using has the motor mount for it so there’s no way of using another motor without it looking like a massive bodge job! I’m contemplating putting a cyclone on an enduro ebike frame and using a BAC2000 or 4000 and running 4-8kW I reckon that would be insane! Cheers!

@@andykirby Oh, i didn't realise the frame was spesific to the motor . Used to be bafang was just a motor kit like cyclone. The BAC is well out of my price range.
