Back in the day, I always found them to be impressive and well-informed people, both Labour and Conservative. The decline in recent years has been shocking, though. Whilst there are still plenty of high-caliber individuals, there are some (too many) who, to be frank, I wouldn’t even employ as junior admin staff. Angela Rayner is one of those. She’s a decent enough person, but she’s way, way out of her depth.
