It's interesting you mentioned trying new things in makeup because I was always under the impression I had to use it only to enhance my natural features, and that I didn't look good in different eyeshadow colors. Since I have blue eyes, I was told way back when I was young, that I couldn't wear blue eyeshadow because brown looked better, and made the blue pop. But then I got so tired of wearing browns, I decided to use a small bit of color. Then I saw another recent video of yours saying you wear it for fun, and didn't care when people said it was "unflattering ". When you said that, something just clicked for me, and I've been wearing ALL KINDS of bright, colorful, and sometimes super dark eyeshadow. It's very liberating to feel like I can be creative without apology. Thank you for saying it, because I would still be in the neutral rut, and may not have ventured out into the rainbow of beautiful colors!

I felt the same way about browns because of my blue eyes. I decided I just didn't care, I started wearing bold and bright colors and didn't let what anyone else said bother me. It's what makes us happy and we like, so what if it's not what we should wear, it's only makeup, it's not that serious. So glad to find someone else who feels the same way I do about colorful eyeshadow with blue eyes.

Love how you bring up the things about different eyeshapes, face shapes, preferences and skin types. As a former MUA that was educated back in 2009 and saw the rise of makeup youtube from there where no one talked about these things or "why this doesn't work for you with a dry skin" etc, I kinda despised the MUA youtube back then. So many weren't educated in the field and just said " use this like this, you will look great " and I am like..." no you won't??!!" SO SOOOO important to talk about this and I feel MUA and beauty youtube today has brought that back and actually teaches or tell you. Which so good!

You made a really good point about "good for the price." I went from having a SUPER curated collection to a bit of a palette and singles explosion this year so I'm trying to pare it down again to quality items that I love and the ELF eyeshadows really seem like they would be a "good for the price" item for me so it was an easy pass. They had glowing reviews at first but almost always the other people would say "they're so good, especially for $3" but then after the hype died down a bit I began seeing less glowing reviews. Yeah, they're $3 but it adds up if I keep buying a bunch of mediocre $3 products.

Love the hair, the eye look, the shirt, just chefs kiss! Also love the message at end! I also feel just as confident with, or without my happy clown makeup, and I wish others would feel more playful with makeup. I know for many men and women in particular it is a chore or feeling like a necessity of a shield against criticisms of our looks but I wish we could just let it go, perhaps it is an age thing as I am slightly older. I wish all of us could just love makeup for it’s nature of being colorful pigments that we slap on our faces with no abandon, because that is such a happy making feeling, at least for me.

I like some of the ELF bite pallettes. You have Influenced me to finally use color. I have always loved color and used it when I was young in the 80s. I gave it up when I aged finally I got so bored I gave up on make up except for tinted moisturizer, mascara, eyebrow gel and lipgloss. I have been watching makeup youtube for entertainment since 2008 and I started seeing older woman not giving up. So I decided to embrace my colorful side. I am having a blast. I have discovered that as long as I am comfortable in my skin then I really don't care what other people think.

I love hearing about the makeup that I've never tried. The influences I follow do give me ideas on what to try. However, I've tried brands that some people love and found out that I don't really like them (i.e. Milani & Elf). I only tried Urban Decay and Too Faced, which are out of my "price comfort zone" because of several people saying how much they loved the brands. Trial and error has narrowed the products I like, but I am glad someone "pushed" me out of my comfort zone. I would have never considered indie brands if it wasn't for you! I love Juvia's Place and if it wasn't for your complete love of the brand, I wouldn't have experienced the beautiful palettes in my collection. I really like your reviews because not only are you entertaining, but you dig into things like the smell of products (I have scent allergies). I love your videos.

I've noticed that beauty KZbinrs I watch influenced me to use a lot more colour in my makeup routine and I love it. I used to only wear matte neutrals and disliked shimmer or anything too cool or too warm. Then I started experimenting with shimmer a bit couple of years ago. Then I tried warm eyeshadows and decided I liked it. Then I started using colorful eyeshadow as eyeliner 'cause I got tired of always wearing black liquid eyeliner and these days I don't even own one anymore since I really don't wear it anymore. Couple of months ago I bought a yellow themed pallete and that started my deep love for colored eyeshadow. Now I own 3 more colorful palletes and some days I do a more colorful and some days a more neutral look, but I no longer wear the same eye look over and over again and that makes me happy. Trying out color actually made me feel a lot more comfortable with getting out of my comfort zone in life as well since I was so connected to my neutrals for so long. I still feel a little overwhelmed with color on some days, but putting a little bit of it in my everyday looks truly makes me feel so much more inspired and it's fun. I wear colors I never would've before and it makes me happy, it makes me free. On days when I feel like I have to wear a more neutral eye now (a job interview for eg.) I just don't feel like me anymore and I'm bored with it. So, have I not watched hours and hours of colorful eyeshadow looks I wouldn't have tried it myself, but if I didn't I would still feel stuck and bored with my make-up. If you are like me and you feel stuck with your current make-up routine, just make a little change one day and see how it feels. For me, in the begging it was a slightly less frequently used color as an gentle eyeliner that is just a little bit outside of my comfort zone. And if you like it, you slowly start experimenting more.

Wow, question 11. Spot on! I get so bored knowing if I watch a video from some KZbinrs, I’m going to see the same predictable look as the rest of their videos. Makeup is an art, and if you aren’t playing, you aren’t going to be fun to watch. I’ve unfollowed a couple influencers for that reason, I just couldn’t bother watching another neutral eye, avoiding the unique color in the palette, some shimmer on the lid, and cover the whole thing with an overwhelming large false lash anyway. Even if it’s a fail, we’re just decorating ourselves, so let’s stretch our comfort zone and have some fun with it!

Even here in Canada, ELF used to be very affordable. I noticed maybe around 3 years ago that their prices had increased a massive amount. Their brushes used to be $2 USD, each. Then they had increased to a minimum of like $9 (and far more in local drugstores). I was like, "When did that happen?" 😳 The same happened with L'Oréal, maybe 10 years ago? And it's happening with a lot of drugstore makeup brands, too. 😔

I ordered two of those e.l.f. palettes too after I learned in your live they were sold at Lyko. Lyko ships to Finland too. (Have not received them yet) Just had to know, what all the buzz was about😅 First time I purchased anything only out of pure curiosity. But affordable? No. They were 11,90 euros each converting to ~13,85 USD and on sale 8,90 euros converting to ~10,35 USD. So, for the full price, you could buy four of them in the US. And three for even the sale price. So yes, I was defintely inluenced 😀

Those elf quads apply so beautifully, but the shadows don’t last on me throughout the day 🤷‍♀️ I haven’t tried them with glitter glue yet, but my Milani primer doesn’t hold on to them for more than 3-4 hours.

That Carnival palette is still tempting me. I’m gonna wait till you do your final thoughts on it. But I agree about experimenting. There are some yourtubers I love but every look is the same only sometimes with slightly different colors. It gets boring. Also agree that makeup should be fun. You should feel good with or without it and there should be less judgment about how people do or do not wear makeup.

I have the elf bite sized rose water and jalapeno and I'll probably pick up the berry pink toned palette and I think they're very good for the 3.99 I paid. I dont think I'd feel that way at 11.00 idk, 2.75 a shade... maybe🤔 oooh, I agree.
