Something I realized which I think is cool is that Sang-Woo says “Gi-Hun…never mind” before the game when he’s hiding the fact that he knows what the game is, and Gi-Hun’s daughter does the same thing in the first episode because she’s hiding that they’re moving to the US.

I am not korean so correct me if i say something dumb, but i saw someone else explain the why Sangwoo doesn't like being called "sir" is because the word Ali uses has a meaning more closely related to "boss" or "superior" i think? So that would explain why Sangwoo feels uncomfortable being called that. I mean again if someone actually speaks the language and can explain this better please do! This is just what I've heard :)

Not korean either, but It didn't quite translate to the subtitles - Ali is usually saying 'hyung' which means 'older brother'. It's kinda like calling someone 'bro' in english but only when you're really close to them and respect them a lot. It shows that he looks up to Sangwoo and respects him, ever since the convenience store in Ep 2.

You got that right. Before Ali and Sangwoo get to know each other, Ali keeps calling every man older than him 'Sajang nim', and 'Sajang nim' literally means boss.

It’s kind of customary to tell someone to drop the formalities as you get to know someone. It’s like in the US, when you first meet someone in higher social status, you address them by their last name with appropriate title. Then at some point, they might tell you to just call them by their first name.

All the other workers were a witness to his identity. The masks are not just to protect them from the players, but also from each other. If you don't know who else is involved, how can you be sure that someone you talk to outside the game isn't actually part of it, or reveal their identity to the authorities.
