Suspicious Minds” was written by Mark James. James was playing on his Fender guitar and Hammond organ pedals and came up with a melody. The storyline of the song is based on James’ personal experience. He was married but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart who was also married. James’ wife was suspicious of him. James felt all three of them were “caught in this trap that they could not walk out of.” “Suspicious Minds” captures the mistrust of the circumstance and what they needed to do to move on. Rolling Stone reports that James recorded a track of the song for Scepter Records in 1968 that had a country take. His version did not chart.

At your prompting, I listened to the FYC version of Suspicious Minds and quite frankly, it’s not in the same league as the three versions I mentioned. It certainly has been doctored greatly in the studio, so it is not unpleasant. But with 32,000 views after four years, compared to the 432,000 views Ms. Jordan’s version has received in a week, I don’t think a half million people are blowing smoke. There’s no doubt that you think highly of the FYC version and that’s fine, but there’s no need for you to knock our opinion.

However, the greatest voices in my life have never had the world in awe as AJ might soon, the reason being that she’s singing songs that attract the masses and presenting them in an incomparable manner as no one else comes close to doing. I’ve followed big band, popular music, r&b/r’n’r, country, and folk music and I can’t imagine one song, of the hundreds of thousands I’ve heard, being sung SUCCESSFULLY by Dimash, the same as Caruso, Pinza, Lanza, Callas, etc etc. He has a voice that fascinates, but not one I listen to for enjoyment. Doing a cover of a huge song from a huge artist that arguably has the most strong fanatical followers is already a huge challenge. Making an almost new song out of it is already stepping on a danger zone. But Angelina took all the risk with this one and made this old classic song current while still paying homage to the one and only King of music. She made a whole new story telling but still brought it back home where it does belong. It was a throwback yet very much of a present time. Great visuals and damn great vocals. And the piano of course...amazing production.

Stunning! When she approached the mike with the guitar it took my breath away, literally. She exuded confidence like she owned the room. Yeah 'murtheblur' it's baffling that Laz Buhrmann wasn't aware of this possible Angelina effort being in the works when he went to assemble the soundtrack. Perhaps it was simply timing being off, because I can't imagine the chosen cover of Suspicious Minds not being Angelina. Baz chose an artist by the name of Paravi Das, and she is talented, and has a warm, deeply soulful, definite quality ... to her voice, but missing out on placing Angie on this soundtrack is unfortunate for all.

I haven't seen the movie, but I think this version of the song has an entirely different meaning than that when performed by Elvis (which when you see the Elvis performances seem to put the lie to the lyrics). I imagine that including AJ's version in a biopic on Elvis would put an entirely different meaning. Probably not what should be applied.

Aside from having the best voice I've heard Anglina is also the greatest interpreter of lyrics.. According to the songwriter at the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. His wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." . Elvis version and all other covers I've heard with the boucny upbeat tempo loses those feelings of hurt , confustion, regret remorse and hope which was the intent of the lyric.... She also brilliantly uses the bridge as an intro to set the mood " oh will our love survive I'll dry the tears from your eyes don't let a good thing dies when honey you know I'll never lie to you... The first time I've eve heard this song not start right from the verse... Michaels children are precious and what a beauty Juliette is becoming... Her smile melted my heart, and such natural in front of the camera

AJ sings songs of old stars that made music available for Main Street. Jazz, soul and now rock from Elvis. When you look at Angelina when she sing these songs is like you can see these musicians soul in her face. Just think of Elvis and look at this video once more. She is amazing, I am proud to be Norwegian, having such talented young/old girl/woman/soul to represent herself and Norway to the world. All I got to say- I cried from the first note till the last! First, this brought back memories of my youth so many years ago, of listening to Elvis every minute I could, of going to his movies, going to a couple of his concerts, and luckily getting to meet him! @@jomamma1750 all oppinions are allowed mamma , well you call call it rock and roll , but the Elvis interpretation was a upbeat fun pop song, many commentators past and present believed that his version was at odds with the lyrics , the lyrics describe 2 people whose marriage is in serious difficulties " a trap" ANGELINAS interpretation was much more in keeping with the lyrics , many would say .her version was completely different like a brand new song a beautifull slow ballad , both version imo are great , I enjoy both . but some Elvis fans can't seem to accept this version , but there was no way ANGELINA would do a Elvis lmpersonation or a karaoke version. it's a beautifull rendition imo , try to accept it for what it is a slow ballad brilliantly performed. appreciate both versions and enjoy both .

I should not say ‘just tears’, it is one of the best feelings I have ever had, to have a physical manifestation of my amazement, appreciation, hope, and anticipation rolling down my face.
