I actually live in Pittsburgh, but I grew up in Brandon, Florida and my buddy and I would always go to Seabreeze Restaurant along the Causeway (right next to the Tampa Shrimp Docks) and fish from their little boat dock. As we got older we would go out to Fort Desoto and fish off of the mile long Gulf Pier and catch big blacktip shark. We also would go out on the Gulf Queen Charter Boat out of St Pete Beach. I REALLY miss it. When my kids gets old enough and decide to move out my wife and I are moving back to Florida and I'm going to retire, buy a boat, and fish saltwater full-time. Fresh water fish just don't do it for me unless they're something like Pike, Muskie, BIG walleye, a BIG carp, or even catching gar out of the Ohio River. Still, saltwater fishing is just SO much more fun because you literally NEVER know what you're going to catch and they're always a good fight.

St Pete is now the most congested city in the US. They now have 29 million residents in Florida. 15 million visiting a month. To many people.

From New Orleans, and I miss fishing the Gulf so much - I'm doing so vicariously through your videos =). I'm now in Virginia Beach, and the fishing up here is amazing. Piers are okay, but the blue water fishing out by the Norfolk Canyon (continental shelf) is insane. You should give it a shot one day, Thanks for the videos!

I was in navarre beach last week. Caught a ton of fish, seen some pretty ladies. Loved that pier. Wed that storm came thru and it was rough the rest of my time there but still caught stuff. Can't wait to go back.

I know Milton; I know Navarre beach. As you stated, immaculate water -- quite a surprise. Saw a spectacular pod of mana rays swimming in exact concert as one there. To the left, left; to the right, right. Instantaneous reaction/interaction. We have so much to learn...

Said it for years, I have no idea why we put sheetrock in garage ceilings here in Florida. With all the humidity we have its bound to crack, peel or fall.

I was fishing a canal in Slidell years ago and this old dude down the way was catching fish & I wasn't. I went to check it out & he said he was catching Tom Toms. I'd never heard of a tom tom fish so I asked what it was & he sad, "it's a little drum." Well played, sir.

I've been in PCB for about 2 weeks and mostly just feeding the fish. Using shrimp tied on with bait elastic thread, but they take it, and I never feel a bite. I've caught a few pinfish, and one of my friends we are staying with got a needle and a speckled trout, but that's it. Fished the pier in PCB and McCall Everett Park.

Hey Brant, how about a video or two demonstrating/reviewing some 4-5 piece travel rods that Beach Bum Outdoors might sell? Those of us who fly in and out of PCB would want to purchase one of those when we come down instead of a rod we couldn't easily take on the plane with us.

Any tips for when the fish just seem to be pulling the shrimp off the hook? Went through 3 different sized circle hooks today, even with my smallest it seemed like I was only hooking up 10% the time. Great video as always though man! That puppy drum snuck up on ya lol.
@scottmichael37458 ай бұрын
When that happens don't use the whole shrimp just use a piece. That will stop them from stealing it.
@chris60548 ай бұрын
@scottmichael3745 I appreciate the comment man. I did start using some pieces and got a lil more success, but damn it's frustrating lately. Loading up on frozen bait though, got a 1lb pinfish today lmao
@scottmichael37458 ай бұрын
@@chris6054 Well you get into the little ones they'll strip your hook for sure. So I started using pieces of shrimp. The secret is, to use the fish you caught as bait! Pin fish, or ciclids are fair game bait! Put them on a big rod with a 2/0 to 4/0 circle hook with 30 to 40 lbs leader on 20 to 30 lbs braid, and oooh buddy, hang on! Good luck.
@AnglerUpTv8 ай бұрын
That usually means there are a ton of pinfish around. I’ll try an use a fish bait like a bull minnow if that starts happening.
@chris60548 ай бұрын
@AnglerUpTv appreciate the reply! A few months back you asked me to let ya know what's happening with Sanibel, I'd say give it a try now if you're still feeling it. Some areas are still a bit rough and they are doing beach replenishment, but there's still a ton of fish around the islands. Goodluck n can't wait for the next vid
