Angry Ostrich VS Floppy Pool Strainer

Ostrich eggs dont do well with rain so I wanted to snatch this fresh egg before it was ruined by the weather. My new egg snatcher 3000 seems to be an effective tool for safely grabbing eggs from the defensive Fred. We do that even with broody chicken hens and cocky cockerels. It’s adorable, and I love my birdies so much.

I joke that I'm raising an army of dinosaurs. Most people don't realize just how big they are until you see them up close. Fred is about 9 feet tall what he stands at full height.

@metaqllica1 forgive me for my ignorance, because I know literally nothing about large birds but, are these guys not considered a bird of prey? They seem pretty damn ferocious if they want to be. I could google it but I'd rather have a conversation with what is more likely a person lol

I'd take eggs from a goose before I'd take them from an ostrich. A goose has a much lower chance of breaking my bones or ending my existence

Do your ostrich lay during the rain? My girl stops laying once it rains and takes a week or two after the rain stops before she lays again.

If we have a lot of rain she will take a break but this was just a quick shower. She laid another 3 days later

Ostrich eggs won't hatch if they get wet and require very low humidity for chicks to hatch without medical issues. Our environment is busy too wet for them to be successful on their own.
