Animal Rights Extremists: Trespassing to Rescue Chickens

Reminds me of the animal rights group in Australia that broke into a small egg farm and released all of their chickens during the night. When the farmers showed up the next day, they found all of the chickens dead in the field next to the farm, as the foxes had slaughtered all of the chickens released. They didn't even eat all or even most of them, but just killed them. These were chickens that the farmer said his children had raised by hand and took careful care of them everyday. But the "animal rights activists" threw them right out to their freedom with the foxes. What's that old saying about the road to hell being paved with good intentions?

As someone who is a chicken farmer, I can say that what they're doing isn't helping any bird. Chickens hate loud noises, bright lights and things unfimilair to them. They were shinning lights in the birds faces, yelling as they were entering the barn, and hundreds of people rushing a barn is going to be very unfamiliar to those birds. As well, most chicken farms have rules stating that the hens cannot leave their respective barn without percuations as it can lead to the be getting very sick.

As for animals, they feel pain, but this is only an instinctive reaction to a stimulus, only a few species on earth have something as complex as feelings and can attribute importance to even basic instincts. Even something as close to a human as a dog, in truth does not have most feelings, they are only learned how to respond to human behavior, they are not able to feel, for example, a sense of guilt. Feelings are complicated processes and not every animal has them or not all of them. There is a difference between feelings and instincts.

Ever since as a young kid, my parents would take me to go see my grandparents and other family members back at México, but one of the many things that my parents did when I went to visit my extended family is see what is like and see the life of México. It was an eye opening experience, and I was felt with so many emotions proud to know where I come from (not just being a US citizen), sad to see the struggle of working Méxican citizen but also appreciation to see what my parents had to sacrafise to come to the US. I am living the American Dream, because I will and am the first and oldest of my family that will be attending to college and getting a STEM degree in one of the most respected fields of Engineering. I do feel that nowadays parents have yet to show their children the reality of what it is to struggle, and sometime I wonder if ever individual that I have met (because there are some who don't know the real meaning of struggle) if they were raised or get to experience what I had experience. Turtle eggs are protected because they are endangered, whereas humans are currently at no risk of extinction. The biggest issue with this farm appears to be the battery cages. Keeping chickens under those conditions is cruel. Birds should be allowed to express their normal behaviour and roam freely which does not appear to be happening here. Surely we can all agree that having an animal spend its entire life in a cage where it is treated as an egg laying machine is wrong.

We live under capitalism as long as there is a demand there will be a supply in this so happens to be the only way to feasibly do it. Abusing them is terrible and should be fixed. But they’re resources, ones to be loved and respected no less, but resources.

Because the people doing that kind of thing aren't easy targets.. they are usually very nasty people who wouldn't let these activists off as lightly as these farmers. These farmers are honest, law abiding, hardworking people who care for their animals and who can be easily terrorized.. it seems.
