Broccoli stem is pretty good when you peel it slightly. I used to hate it as sometimes the top layer is too chewy. We steam the broccoli or roast it in the oven, but the kids prefer steamed and it's slightly faster to cook that way. Thanks for the video, great tips!

Contrary to the often made claim, it is cheaper to get healthy food cheaper than it is to eat “junk food” in restaurants. The same goes to getting suitable food for supporting one’s fitness goals, that isn’t necessarily the same as healthy food (considering the rates of different macro and micro nutrients), but is still times healthier than (most) of the “junk foods”. It just takes some (little) effort to go to grocerie store and getting suitable incredients and prepare good meals by oneself. And even more - it is heaper to get healthy and fitness fitting foods (and incredients) in grocerie stores comparing to unhealthy foods in grocerie stores. So the excuse of not eating healthy and not eating suitable way for getting in good shape isn’t valid. Good, that you, Evan, give people valuable information about the ways how to purchase good food and how to save money at the same time.

I hope that you guys do bring ‘Big on a Budget’ back because those videos were a lot of fun, educational, and often even hilarious. Animal, bring it back! Edit: well, I should say that it kinda depends on who wins the election in November. If the ‘Hairy Balls’ ticket wins then prices for groceries will continue to skyrocket, but if President Trump wins we should see prices come down at least a little starting in 2025.

Organic is non GMO which is more important than what pesticides are used.
@EvanCentopaniOfficial6 ай бұрын
Do we know this for a fact though? If a GMO crop is not treated with ANYTHING (IF) is it worse than and organic product that is still heavily treated? Serious question. I don't know the answer to that.
@apuz136 ай бұрын
@@EvanCentopaniOfficial Without doing any real digging on this subject I would say most gmo crops have some form of pesticides in them. Organic farmers do use pesticides and probably more of it but are they safer. There are also some who believe ever since gmo's have come on the scene more and more people are being diagnosed with food allergies but you could also contribute that to more and better testing for food allergies.
@EvanCentopaniOfficial6 ай бұрын
@@apuz13 It could depend though. I think I'm some cases, cross are generically modified TO withstand greater pesticide application (obviously very bad). But are there instances where the genetic modification (and what exactly does genetic medication mean...I don't know the answer to that) makes it so pesticide application is no longer needed?

Let's make it clear! With 1 thing I don't agree and it's about cooking oil. It can not be "good" cooking oil if it has high smoking point. There is not such thing. Don't make mistake. High smoking point is only achieved trough heavy heavy refining of the oil. So less is better. Cooking is best with "true" olive (cold press) oil. I know it's hard to find it this days specially a good one and even in US but if you manage to find a good one you are a lucky person. Cooking with one only on low, mid-low and mid. flame. Never goes hard full blow . And finally if you see that oil is smoking while you are cooking that means your fire is too high. Lower it down and you are golden.

You eat for a living and you don’t know if organic is better than gmo come on Evan. Your the bodybuilding health guy
@EvanCentopaniOfficial6 ай бұрын
Organic is a blanket term and it's an extremely wide spectrum. It's like saying "Water is better than soda" Seems like a no brainer. But if we're talking about toilet water vs coca cola, I'll take the soda. The specifics kinda matter. Same goes with GMO... If I grow apples in my backyard that are a modified variety but I add NOTHING to them, are they better or worse than an organic or non-gmo variety to which excessive amounts of pesticides are applied? I think there is a lot to consider and not always a matter of one being flat out better than the other.
