Don't need much of a description. Animal athlete, Dan "BOSS" Green training shoulder. Simple and straight to the point.

I wanna see some Dan Green big on a budget or some type of grocery shopping video with him instead of bodybuilder for a diff perspective and one specific to powerlifting

Agreed 100% would be interesting to see
@avalanchebarbell14429 жыл бұрын
Andrew Schofield I would imagine it would be very similar considering the series' are all about getting the most for your money but seeing Dan's perspective on anything training related is always interesting.

God damn... Dan's shoulders can press more than my legs can squat.
@richardevans89089 жыл бұрын
Same haha close to my deadlift too haha
@Stevofxx9 жыл бұрын
That's not technically true depending on how much you weigh and squat. Remember, your legs still have to squat your bodyweight in addition to the weight on the bar. So overall, you legs might still be stronger. Pedantry aside, he's fucking strong!!!

Watching videos again. I just love doing pre$$e$ . Definitely working on becoming a standing and seated barbell/dumbbell overhead pre$$ing $pecialist along with thumbs-length inclined-bench pre$$e$ and use same grip for benching and pre$$e$. I am a big fan of 65 degrees inclined-bench pre$$ along with 45 degrees inclined-bench pre$$e$.

Is there a benefit from doing seated OHP vs standing?
@gainsandglory68089 жыл бұрын

Middle shoulder (medial deltoid) EMG results: Standing barbell vs. standing dumbbell - muscle activation was 7% greater for the standing dumbbell press.Seated dumbbell vs. standing barbell - muscle activation was 7% greater for the standing barbell press. Back shoulder (posterior deltoid) EMG results: Seated barbell vs. standing barbell - muscle activation was 25% greater for the standing barbell press.Seated dumbbell vs. standing dumbbell - muscle activation was 24% greater for the standing dumbbell press. Biceps brachii EMG results: Seated barbell vs. seated dumbbell - muscle activation was 33% greater for the seated barbell press.Standing barbell vs. standing dumbbell - muscle activation was 16% greater for the standing barbell press.Seated dumbbell vs. standing dumbbell - muscle activation was 23% greater for the standing dumbbell press. Triceps brachii EMG results: Standing barbell vs. standing dumbbell - muscle activation was 39% greater for the standing barbell press.Seated barbell vs. standing barbell - muscle activation was 20% greater for the standing barbell press. When it came to the 1RM strength test, the standing barbell press was 7% greater than the standing dumbbell press and 10% greater than the seated dumbbell press. So, what can be gleaned from this study is pretty simple: An overhead press performed standing versus seated requires more stability. An overhead press performed standing versus seated results in a lower 1RM. The majority of overhead pressing exercises requiring the greatest stability (standing and/or with dumbbells) demonstrated greater neuromuscular activity in the deltoid muscles as compared to exercises performed seated and/or with a barbell. The standing barbell press activates the biceps and triceps brachii to a greater extent than the seated barbell press and either the seated or standing dumbbell press. -breakingmuscle.com/strength-conditioning/the-overhead-press-the-actual-difference-between-seated-standing-dumbbell-and-
@gainsandglory68089 жыл бұрын
So to answer your question, there are benefits and negatives to both seated and standing, barbell and dumbell. The best way imo to do it would be to alternate them. You can do one this week, the other next week, or every push day do a variant, or focus on one for your entire training cycle and then chose another for your next training cycle etc. I don't think it takes behind the neck press into account but I am sure that that will result in more side and rear delt stimulation than the standard ohp.

This is why the great weightlifter Vasily Alekseyev most likely could bench press 500-600lbs, or whatever number is usually quoted. When you can clean and press 500lbs, benching 500lbs ain't gonna be hard.

Does he do forced reps?
@PwntsRocksU9 жыл бұрын
***** hes already big and going to failure (which is what forced reps are) are not really useful for powerlifting because he needs to hit all of his reps without a spot.
@PwntsRocksU9 жыл бұрын
***** hes also going down to a lighter weight for him. his total is less than his alltime best total, but if he can build his relative strength at 220 he can possibly bring it up to where it was when he was 242er. hes looking jacked right now its sick
