The Magic School Bus Rides Again is a 2017 remake on the Netflix streaming platform of the 1994 series "The Magic School Bus", which ran on PBS. It was based on the books of the same name by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen. It starred Ms. Frizzle who would take her class on field trips every day (without any parental permission). Her magic bus allowed her to take her class across the solar system and beyond, inside the human body, through the water cycle, and numerous other scientific concepts. It made learning fun by showing these concepts up and close and demonstrating them in a creative visual way.
The 2017 remake... sort of kind of tries.

Fiona would have been fired and her students rushed to a hospital to check wether or not they were infected with fecal bacteria. In fact, I am surprised that Miss Frizzle wasn't fired for all the school trip she took her children on with out their parents consent and all the dangerous situations they were in. Those kids would suffer from PTSD after graduating.

You know what the funny thing about the infamous scene of Arnold killing himself is? That's not really what happens when you take your helmet off in space. His face would've just swelled and he would've fallen unconscious within fifteen seconds while also sustaining bruises. The quickest way he could've actually died would be if he held his breath, which only causes your lungs to rupture from the pressure.

From the descriptions I read, I think a body that was thrown into space without a suit would come back looking like that body was simply tossed off a small, smooth cliff. You still die in minutes and holding your breath is a death sentence, but it's not as spectacular as sci-fi movies and shows make it out to be. The most lethal thing it can do is give you cancer from the radiation, which might not even kill you until _years_ later.

"Oh, he's just going to have some face swelling and bruises once the ice melts." The entertainment value in/from scientific hindsight is completely lost in this reboot because it takes itself way too seriously, like its presenting kids with factual evidence (the gene thing makes me angry...) when it's really making bullshit up and calling it "science."

No, it has been used as fertilizer for Millenia. Typically it is used as animal crop manure nowadays specifically cause of how nasty poop pathogens when going person to person is. If it is used on human crops, its typically sterilized first

Dear White People, a show that makes the teachers pushing CRT look sane. Q-Force, a show that looks like a cartoon from GTA 5 that even members of the LGBT community hated. They censored a scene from Back To The Future 2 involving a playboy magazine only to restore it after backlash. Then, when they started to receive flak for that one movie, they said now wasn't the time to start censoring films. Oh, and recently an executive was arrested for doing something horrible to his wife. You can probably tell what. There's probably a ton more, but those were the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

I'm pretty sure that there are only a few species of butterflies that actually do that anyway. I mean, there IS a butterfly in Spain that drinks blood from dead bodies (and no it's not just humans, but horses, dogs cats, pretty much and mammal) and a few tropical caterpillars that hunt bugs like praying mantises, but most just eat leaves as larvae and drink nectar as adults. So at least most butterflies in North America and likely Asia and Australia are normal.

‘Mudpuddling’ by butterflies is relatively common iirc, but the material changes. Some hang out on animals and go for sweat. Some focus on rotting leaves. Some will go for tears or blood, others will find dead animals…I’ve even seen pictures of some drinking water off metal fences. And yes, some will go for waste. Urine or feces.

I refused to watch the remake on principle. Same with the 3rd spongebob movie, kamp koral, the Illumination Addam's family, or any other easy cash in. There is no point to them and they offer nothing. They aren't good nostalgia because they don't respect the source material, nor are they good on their own. Looking at the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, I hate that movie on it being a remake and being terrible at that, but can see why someone could like it if they never watched the originals. These however are terrible, plagued with corporate "hip" ideas and trendy fads, while also dumbing down characters people can attach to. Friz was a fucking awesome character that pretty much every kid wanted as their teacher, and they ruined it because they failed to realize what made the show entertaining, the stories were interesting so you got invested into the learning. It isn't the what of the matter, it's the why.

The new Addams Family was ok. On the minus side, its "Don't judge people who are different" message got WAY too heavy- handed as the movie went on, and I don't like how ugly they made Gomez. On the plus side, most of the other characters were handled well (Especially Wednesday), and the opening scene with Gomez and Morticia's wedding was brilliant.

I think the fact that science *has* moved on from the 1990s makes the original Magic School Bus a lot more fun to go back to now in the form of "Haha, Pluto's not a planet anymore/your appendix isn't useless/computers don't use RAM!" The outdated stuff vs. what we know now makes it more fun as opposed to the reboot, which flat out states in an episode *YOUR PERSONALITY COMES FROM A FUCKING GLAND.* A gland. Goddamn it. That's like rehashing the "blood exclusively comes from veins in your neck" myth and *hammering* that in as scientific fact. Also, the thing I hate about this reboot most of all is the strained connection to the original via Miss Frizzle's cousin Fiona. Like, I get the original had, like, 6,0000 cousins and a Whovian family tree, but they were usually one off gags. Fiona replaces Miss Frizzle, depriving kids of The Next Generation-style writing and an effort to flesh out the kids and new students more.

I remember when I was in the fourth and fifth grade, my teachers would play the original Magic School Bus on the old box tv in the corner of the classroom as a way to educate us. And much like other educational cartoons I watched when I was little, like DragonTales and Blues Clues and Wow Wow Wubbzy and Wordgirl, I totally forgot I was supposed to be learning something and just had fun watching the cartoons. If this version was around when I was growing up, I probably...no, I definitely would've misbehaved on purpose in order to get tossed into detention, just so I wouldn't have to watch this poor excuse of a cartoon. And I hope to God the other cartoons I mentioned don't get terrible reboots like this by Netflix, God help them if they ruin Blues Clues or DragonTales for me!

This is one of those shows that you simply can't transcribe in to the real-world despite it being a science education show: it'd be less fun (to clarify, I'm talking about the original show and the concept as a whole, not this XD) because in a real-world setting, you're restricted to real-world set-pieces. Meanwhile, in the realm of animation there are no such restrictions. All in all, just re-stating the previously-established point that "Animation is exaggeration." I mean it when I say this: every time I see a show using this stilted animation style, I automatically think it's a bad adult cartoon... This kind of degeneracy doesn't exist with their Asian content (especially anime and Asian dramas). Even their Japanese drama about male pregnancy was surprisingly heartfelt and not woke or demented at all. Even their furry anime shows like Aggretsuko, Beastars and BNA are not depraved. I'm also glad said Asian content is becoming much more popular, especially when Squid Game dethroned everything else Netflix made, including Stranger Things. We still have Netflix because they are the best streaming service for Korean dramas, and my family really loves them. My brother and one of my sisters are the only one watching the Western trash while I prefer sticking to anime. Mostly re-watching Evangelion again and again.

Mulan (2020) went in a completely new direction compared to the 1998 classic and it failed spectacularly, especially since despite its pandering to Chinese audiences, much of its portrayal of Chinese culture was poorly researched and heavily relied on outdated stereotypes of Asians. The "wah ha ha who" was one of my favorite parts so the fact that they removed that left me disappointed
