I do think a Link that could talk can still work. Personally I could see a Zelda cartoon involve a more emotionally distant Link learning to open up with the help of friends he made while trying to stop Ganon or any other antagonist. If we do get another Zelda cartoon, by virtue of the Links across the games being different incarnations, why not have characters and elements from different games appear? Imagine seeing a Link who has to deal with Revali and Midna, had Volvagia as his pet like in the OoT manga, Mipha and Ruto competing for Link’s affections, etc.

The alternative is that he is just one of those shrinking violet types. And that he sometimes starts to talk, but always gets interrupted by Navi and/or some other fairy that tries to speak for him.

8:52 If we're being fair, Christianity _was_ originally going to be the official religion of Hyrule, there's a Bible in the game and a cross on the shield and everything. There's even official art of Link praying at a crucifix. Hell, you can still see slight Christian influences in the franchise, though that may be a coincidence.
@kawrght3 жыл бұрын
Plus christianity has nothing to do with christmas itself. Its aspects built up and created over time, and save for santa himself(saint nick was real) its only been adapted into christianity, and may have even been based on a pagan event.
@Banchoking3 жыл бұрын
This is something of a popular myth. Most cultures had holidays at the same times of the year since that was when food was available for celebrating. Winter holidays tend to take place when Winter is fading so they could eat their surplus stores without worrying about not having enough. When pagans converted to Christianity, they brought tradition ps from their old holidays with them and they became a part of Christmas. So it wasn't a pagan holiday, it just absorbed traits from them overtime.
@Soufriere843 жыл бұрын
@@Banchoking Yes and no. Christmas was adapted from the Roman holiday of Saturnalia which occurred at the Winter Solstice (as you noted). Serious Biblical scholars tend to agree nowadays that Jesus of Nazareth wasn't born in the Winter -- the Gospels strongly imply a birth during the Spring since the upland Levant could get kinda cold on winter nights and shepherds would _not_ be outside tending flocks then. We also know that Halley's Comet paid a visit to Earth around the time Jesus was said to have been born, and it was during the Spring and Summer, when shepherds _would_ have been outside at night. TL;DR -- Christianity, in contrast to the other two Abrahamic religions (Judaism & Islam), is very syncretic in its holidays, which meshed organically over time with earlier pagan holidays because evangelists found out the hard way that you can't just take ancient feast days away from people; you slap a Christian veneer on them.
@BrightWulph3 жыл бұрын
@@Soufriere84 Not to mention there's a lot of examples of Christianity intesecting and not messinging with other relegous beliefs and holidays, so in some cultures it was perfectly normal to have Christian beliefs and local beliefs coexisting for a long time without interfearing with each other. Until cultural drift happened and Christianity just absorbed the local legends into it's own, because you know, that's a thing.

The ironic part about the Super Mario Brothers Super Show is that despite the cheese, at least it had something to go off of and was more vastly diverse despite running off of the same damsel in distress formula, but it worked for its time because it gave audiences something to look forward to despite The Legend of Zelda cartoon being cockteased like fuck. I'll admit, the previews for the cartoon on dvds really made me want to watch it, but knowing that it tried to go for the same aesthetically pleasing thing is really off-putting because it just thinks that it can get away with doing the exact same thing, despite being its own thing, which kinda makes for a shitty concept.

When I think of a Link that talks I think of the portrayals in the Akira Himekawa mangas. Not only does the different incarnations have different personalities, but you can also see personal growth and a character worthy of being called a hero (unlike in the cartoon). The Zelda series in itself is tempting to be made into a TV series as it is hard. Before BotW most games followed the same structure "go to temple, find item, beat boss, repeat". This formula works for games but not for TV series. As such, the story (if taken from any game) must be changed to fit the new format. Thankfully Zelda has a lot to work with even besides the games, which would allow the creation of a story that doesn't need to follow any story that we already know. And even if we follow a game story, then you could still include new characters and events to spice things up. But all in all I think that Link should talk if a new series arrives. His charcater is malleable enough to fit different types, depending on how the show writer wants the story to develop.

Hello, fellow Legend of Zelda fan!!! It's also my all time favorite video game franchise that influenced my life growing up. This cartoon, though...I'm glad I only saw it later as I got older haha

This is one of the shows I enjoy for its sheer cheesiness, which I find easier to do when there’s little to no continuity. My favorite episode has to be the water park as well! With all the CD-I references mixed in between, I gotta say, King Harkinian is the better ruler of Hyrule than the king in the cartoon. He knew when to joke around, when to be serious, and even offered his help to other kingdoms. And then his KZbin Poop personality is a whole other beast…

Thank you Mr. Enter for putting THE ENTIRE Zelda cartoon as ONE BIG Animated Atrocity. The cartoon SUCKS TOTAL ASS. Doesn't follow the game it's based on and Link is ANNOYING as hell. Trying to get a kiss from Zelda IN EVERY SINGLE EPISODE got annoying pretty fast.

I think this is one of those cartoons where if it had been more competent it would have been less memorable. Better the cheesefest we got than something more carefully crafted that doesn't linger in the memory.

Well to be fair, the Bubsy cartoon was terrible & yet nobody remmebers it. Oh wait, it was only a failed pilot & it wasn't cheesy; just absolutely abysmal.

7:03 I mean, in later games its shown that any girl that interacts with Link ends up infatuated with him, so the cartoon's actually ahead of its time on this one .

Clumsy in Wind Waker? You mean the version where he fights like a fucking acrobat, with flashy sword combos, and where he can actually steal stuff from enemies with a primitive grappling hook? How is he clumsy?!

Zelda is a massive Tsundere confirmed. She hates Link to the point that she loves him.

When I used to watch the dvds of the Mario super show, they would constantly play the Zelda cartoon intro on the sneak peaks and I knew that his catchphrase is cheesy

The editing felt like something out of a YTP with all the quickcuts and memes, and as a one-off I enjoyed it, though I do hope it's not the norm going forward.

This version of Link would definitely use the Triforce to wish for the pizza dinosaur of his dreams. Of the species velociraptoroni. And it's a cold-blooded abomination with extra hot cheese that ate Zelda

I completely blocked out how the Triforce of Wisdom, when taken from the castle, had to be put on a leash. I wonder what would happen if it were let off the leash. Would it just float away? Would it run off and bite the Postman jogging by?

Don't want to be that guy but the most ancient Link we played as in Skyward Sword seems to be right handed, good review though
