I have done a few different conveyor tutorials and all of them are pretty much the same. This one is the best. However, it seems very unstable if you make the slightest adjustments. Too much bounce not enough bounce. Box disappears. Box lands above the belt. If you don't want to drop the box, and just have it on the belt, it drops through the belt. Clearing Scene Properties cache doesn't seem to do much. Reloading a saved version of the project seems to have a positive effect in many cases. It seems like this shouldn't be this difficult. Oh, and I want to drop without bounce.

Some of the rigid body issues you mentioned above are addressed in this tutorial -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmObg3mvqaZ0f9E After checking those issues, to make the object land and stick (no bounce) increase the friction for both surfaces. Much of rigid body activity depends on picking the right collision shape for your objects-- the linked tutorial talks about this in more detail, but picking the right shape involves a bit of trial and error.

I followed everything exactly as you did. My box falls through my conveyor belt. Wondering if there’s a work around, or something I’m doing wrong. Your instructions were very concise, so I’m at a loss as to what I did wrong.

are there guidelines you have to follow when you place you cube initially? I did get it work when I dropped it in the middle of the belt but when I tried to drop it from the starting end of the belt, the cube just flew up and of the screen...
@Blendini
@Blendini 3 жыл бұрын
No guidelines for cube placement; the issue you're experiencing is likely related to the curve modifier. Around 3:00 I flip the conveyor belt around the y axis so the top of the belt moves in the same direction as the object origin when it's moved along the Y axis. This transformation was used to work with the negative Y (-Y) deformation axis, which may be responsible for unexpected animations. Try switching the curve modifier deformation axis to positive Y (Y). Then rotate the cube/conveyor belt along the Y axis until it is properly oriented along the curve object (usually 90 degrees). The movement of the top of the belt must still align with the object origin in order to get proper collision animations, so make sure they still move in the same direction after these changes.

@@Blendini Very good :-). Funny...I was up last night till 2am and actually for some reason, thought of trying this and then yes, it worked fine. You must have been sending me telepathy for me to try that lol. Thanks for the reply and explaining. I really appreciate it. I hope you'll be doing more videos. I shared this one of yours on a FaceBook Blender Group Page last night so hopefully you'll get some new subscribes. Have a good weekend.

@@Blendini I really appreciate your replies, thank you. A tutorial I'd love is one doing just shading and texturing. No modeling...just taking a plane and go thru different types of effects and what Nodes to use....the process breakdown. I just learned a bit of UV unwrapping and applying a texture from a graphic...It was really cool. Derek Elliots tutorials have been really good for me to learn....and now yours too. Anyway...I'm rambling lol. Enjoy your Sunday.

Blender 3.3.0 the cube multiplies in the X direction, when I choose the Y factor.
@Blendini
@Blendini 2 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the array, check for unapplied transformations. If you've rotated your cube on the 90 degrees around the Z axis, a Factor X offset on the array, will appear as a Y-offset. Applying transformations will fix this. Otherwise, check out this tutorial which clarifies common issues with curves, arrays and rigid bodies: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmObg3mvqaZ0f9E

Hey first of all very nice tutorial ! Unfortunately it doesnt quite work for me with the belt, because after all rigid body settings you did on both objects the cube falls through the top of the belt and lands in the middle, and moves there. Its the same height the blocks are on before using the curve modifier. It seemed only to work after i set the Cubes shape to "mesh" and collision margin to 1m in the rigid body settings, which cant be the right solution I think.
@Blendini
@Blendini 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, i'm glad you were able to get this to work. The mesh shape does matter; I was able to recreate your issue but I've had some trouble getting consistent results. I'm going to look into this more and may produce another tutorial that works for the newer versions of blender. Thanks for the feedback!

hi, my active cube keeps moving on Y axis, never falls down from the conveyor belt. any idea to fix this? thank you for your help!!
@Blendini
@Blendini 2 жыл бұрын
hi! Check under the rigid body settings for the conveyor belt, and try changing the source to either Final or Base. Final is what should work, because it allows the simulation to take the object's modifiers into account-- but to fix this problem, using Base worked. I'm not sure why. I hope this helps!

How to make 90 degree conveyor belt
@Blendini
@Blendini 2 жыл бұрын
This technique works for any shape that is a curve. If you want to rotate the conveyor belt 90 degrees, select the curve and belt mesh and rotate both of them. Then apply the rotations. Then with the belt mesh selected, tab into edit mode and rotate the initial block to the proper orientation.

I'm trying to simulate a box falling into a fabric bag. Bag is cloth and box is rigid body. The bag interacts with the box and deforms, but then the box just fall down through the bag.
@Blendini
@Blendini 3 жыл бұрын
I've not spent much time with this but there are a couple of things to try: 1) Instead of setting the box to rigid body, try cloth or soft body. If you use soft body, uncheck Goal, and under edges increase pull and push to .99 to prevent the object from changing shape. 2) Ensure that your cloth bag has collision enabled, and try increasing the quality steps of the cloth simulation.
@ProHolmes
@ProHolmes 3 жыл бұрын
@@Blendini wow this is a really fast reply! With softbody my cube stayed inside a bit linger stretching the bag but finally went throug it. With cloth it works. I just need to study cloth settings more to make my cube harder.

@@ProHolmes Happy to help! I'm glad you were able to figure something out. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "make my cube harder" but playing around with Stiffness values might give you the effect you're looking for.

Hey, can somebody help, because cube goes through th cloth. thanks
@Blendini
@Blendini 3 жыл бұрын
There are several settings that might be causing this-- Is Object Collisions checked on the cloth's Cloth Simulation Properties tab? Starting at 13:10, it shows an animated cloth and a box passing through which shows the other necessary setting: Collision must be enabled on any objects expected to collide with the cloth. I hope that helps!

Hi there! Sorry for the delayed response. When it comes to the physics properties for your cube, Collision needs to be after Rigid Body. If that doesn't solve your issue, you can email me [blendiniyt(at)gmail.com] a copy of the file and I can take a look at it and hopefully get you a solution.
