This was inspired by the song "Daddy Take Me With You," which was a song based off the American Civil War. I used Cunla and Cuchulain for this piece.
Once again, I ask that no negative, critical, or degrading comments be left on this video in regards to the art, genre, images, characters, and the like whatsoever. It took a great deal of time and effort to complete this piece. I have meant no offense and am not trying to make

Though i didn't comment when this first uploaded, I gotta say now that this is my childhood! Been watching this on and off since January 2012! This along with your Cumberland's Crew vid is what got me into the American Civil War in full force along with the Gettysburg film. The song was hugely moving, not least when we remember that like most other southern soldiers, this father and son probably did not own slaves, but were the dupes of an evil minority who did. In some ways not unlike the poor Tommies and Landsers and Poilus of 1914. Plus ca change...

That in not way diminishes the service of those men, their bravery and moral defense of their homes. Not for the Confederate soldier, nor for the Union soldiers from Pennsylvania when invaded in 1862 and 63. Nor for that matter for the French and Belgians in 1914, the Brits who fought with them or even the German and Austrian soldiers who fought them.

Colin McDonald The Civil War wasn't fought over slavery. It was over states rights. The South wanted state rights that the government wouldn't give them, so they threatened to secede. Then the Civil War arose under the smoke and propaganda of freeing the slaves.

What some people can't understand is that the United States can not stop war. We try to do what we can but it isn't enough. Now maybe if other people would help us in our PEACEFUL endeavors we could almost stamp out war. Yes, we could stop war, but for about 5 minutes max. Conflict is an essential part of human nature and can not be stopped. But what my country wants to stop the most is civil war. Whole bloodlines ended during the U.S civil war and we try our best to stop it.

what a load of trite garbage. Many young guys have gone to war enticed by glorious propaganda only to find the reality of war is far different from the nonsense they were told by fallacious orators like yourself. When war is in self defence the fault always lays on the shoulders of the antagonist

@@lazyishardwork you have a point about how so many people get tricked into war, and though I think you are being a little harsh on that guy I do respect what you are saying, though you need to remember that many a time in history the diffender did just as bad if not worse crimes then the attacker. The two best examples would be the Soviet army going through Germany looting so much that Stalin himself sent orders telling them to stop, and rapeing over two million woman in 1945 alone and the Germanic trides of the Rhine basen Massacre of thousands of Romans captives as sacrifices to their God's in thanks for there victory over the invading Romans. And look I hate both the Romans and the Nazis, being a Jew there should be no question as to why, yet I think that in war all men stop fighting for some idea like freedom or justice and instead fight for the man next to him, and will do anything to insure his and their survival. War is a tragedy that mankind continue 's to make because for some reason we as a species love it. Though to be honest I like to think that we are getting better with each generation, and though we will never live to see it I do think that we will some day see a humanity that will turn their swords into plow sheers, but it sadly will not be this day.

@Oreobush Since the secession was legal there could be no treason. Not one man was tried for treason after the war because Lincoln's refusal to allow us to peacefully secede was itself, an illegal act. Every Southerner killed by a Northern soldier was, by law, an act of murder. Doesn't real history suck?

*** LYRICS *** Daddy take me with you, I don't want to stay behind I will walk so close beside you, while you march along in line I will help you with your knapsack, I can comfort you at night Oh daddy take me with you, won't you let me stand and fight I will beat the drum you gave me, in the winter of last year I will pound the battle cadence, it will thunder in your ear. I will march from dawn's first daylight, till the sun goes down at night Oh daddy take me with you, won't you let me stand and fight And as long as I remember, he was there to hold my hand For my daddy is a mountain, he is more than just a man And of all the gifts he gave me, he taught how to do what's right Oh daddy take me with you, won't you let me stand and fight Well, daddy, it's not over, we have walked this path before We have faced the roaring thunder, and we've braved the cannon roar Though our brothers fall around us, we will see the mornings light Oh daddy's so courageous, God let us stand and fight Oh, daddy I can't see you, though I feel you by my side Though your voice is just an echo, from the mist beyond my eyes I can bear to leave you, daddy, for I know we did what's right Oh, daddy took me with him, aside, aside to stand and fight. And as long as I remember, he was there to hold my hand For my daddy is a mountain, he is more than just a man And of all the gifts he gave me, he taught how to do what's right Oh, daddy took me with him, aside, aside to stand and fight. Oh, daddy took me with him, aside, aside to stand and fight. Don't complain, I couldn't quite understand what the last lines were.

As far as I understood the constitution, it is more like Germany. Bavaria is a state within the federal republic, and retains a number of sovereign rights on which the federal government may not impede, but relinquished several rights to said government and is bound by the the choices made in that matter by the legislative and executive organs of the federal republic.
@italia689
@italia689 5 жыл бұрын
That's what federalism means; some powers, such as the right to legalize prostitution are given to states. Of course, as certain reforms gain ground and more states or regions pass certain laws (examples: women's suffrage and gay marriage), they get into the national spotlight and Washington wakes up to change. At least in the U.S. anyway. Some states now have passed their own paid leave laws based on state taxes (rather than using money from pensions, as Republicans suggest. One step at a time!)

North Korea and South Korea are separate countries the same way that the Union and the Confederacy were "separate countries". People still call that a civil war, in that it was between two halves of a nation, depending on who you ask. Now, what do you think N and S Korea started fighting about? It WAS one country, now it's two because neither side ever won the fight. I'd say that could be considered a Civil War; they're all Koreans after all.

Let us remember both southern boy and northern boy stood beside one enough, and though one wore blue and the other wore gray both shared in the hardships of battle and both fought in the end not for cause beyond the scope of the common man but the fellow that stood next to him in the battle line. That shared his tent and shared also in the hardships. May God grant us the wisdom and the courage never to never fight brother to brother again. For the cost is too dear.

The reality of the situation actually occurred many times throughout the civil war. And it was quite common for fathers and sons to go to war. In certain areas, different family members joined different sides of the war only to see each other in battle. Both sides only anticipated the war would go on for about a week. What makes the song sad is the harsh reality the war had.

Sara Maru Fort Pillow was an accident, a couple hundred illiterate farm boys went in there in all that smoke and confusion ; a lot of them had probably never heard of a white flag before . Hell some of the yanks were still shooting and only some of them were trying to surrender. Forest himself wasn’t even in the fort , he was supervising artillery when it started and as soon as he realized what was happening he told his men to stop . Willam Sherman was given orders to investigate Fort Pillow and when he finished Forest was exonerated.

They did not have much choice to send those boys to war all of the older men and boys would have been carrying guns into the war so they would have only been able to get younger boys to be the drummer.

well you need to look at the technology back then he might of been hit by a stray bullet or the yankee was aiming at someone else but missed i understand where your coming from but it's not always like that and by the way no offense to the southern soldier but who would bring a child into a war like that drummer boy or not war is dangerous

People would actively try and shoot Drummers in those times, on all sides of the war. Same with Bugles. The reason is that the Drums were how the various different formations communicated. Kill the musicians, and you kill the ability for a formation to communicate. They were not just there to tap a marching cadence, they signaled orders and communication to the whole field. They were often the first ones shot.

Muttface McDerp Your right ; however it was often considered very bad form. Still it’s very likely that people did ; once you been at war that long and seen two or three battles the thought of maybe “accidentally “hitting a musician may not seem too morally reprehensible.

There are examples of union boys kicking ass as well. I think and if someone would correct me there was a boy who lost his arm but earned the medal of honor.

the american union, when it started, was more like the european union, just an agreement to help people with trading etc. but, like the EU, the federal government slowly took more and more power from the state governments. according to their constitution each state retains all rights to have their own laws (which is why in some states prostitution or some drugs are legal). each state also has the right to leave the union at will, which was denied to the south

I just reread my comment to see where I said anyone else they accuse of war crimes is innocent. I'not not seeing it.. care to point it out? I was amused by the hypocrisy of a German bitching about another country committing war crimes during WWII.. well that and the way his post backs up the stereotype about Germans liking to point out other's faults while ignoring their own..
