My personal head-canon is that the Mandrake tastes better because of biological and/or chemical reasoning. Most monsters here are explained with logic rather than the generic "because magic". This means that there should be something that causes the Mandrake to be able to produce these dangerous screams. I'd posit that the Mandrake carries various chemicals that mix together when introduced to oxygen. These chemicals produce a large volume of air that leaves the mandrake through the mouth-like opening, with said opening transforming the escaping gas into a specific sound that disrupts the brainwaves of creatures in proximity. By letting it scream, these chemicals get used up and stop affecting the taste. I know, super long post for something I'd just thought up, but I'd like to think there's more to it than just "they scream when pulled out" and "they taste better that way".

So... assuming someone found a way to harvest the gas, could it be used for something? 😁 Doesn't have to be useful or used for something nice mind you.

I don't understand why so many people think Falin "will be fine". The time limit to her rescue is never about getting her out alive, that's a foregone conclusion, the time limit is about making sure there's anything left of her to resurrect.
@Timmir002 ай бұрын
I believe it's likely due to the stories conflicting tones, especially early on. On the surface, the story appears like a lighthearted cooking anime that happens to be a fantasy dungeon crawler, so it isn't exactly a stretch for some to believe that Falin might be able to survive within a dragon until it is slayed as that sticks to the lighthearted tone people are expecting from it. It also doesn't help that no one says that she's dead outright themselves. I admittedly thought something similar starting off until we learn more about how death works in this dungeon and the actually reasoning behind the rescue mission makes more sense.

This was such a good anime that got overshadowed because it came out around the same time as frieren. I'm so glad I gave it a chance after I finished frieren. I'm really looking forward to seeing your reactions to the later plot points, and all the amazing food

At first I was not really interested in watching this anime due to the whole Food Wars vibe which isn't my kind of jam at all. But I finally gave it a try and I don't regret it at all. I was a bit surprised to see such a show was done by Trigger as it doesn't look like their usual stuff, but they did an incredible job at applying their style to this anime. Anyway, glad we're getting 4 weeks of this :D

I love the authors work, even tho i cant understand what shes saying on her only (blue moon posting schedule) social which is just an art blog, but she puts so much thought into her characters i dont feel like i need to, shes an incredible author. I hope we see more of her work get published because ive already finished the dungeon meshi manga, and i want another manga in her style so bad

I remember watching the first episode and thinking the characters were all cold and heartless as they seemed unfazed by Falin being eaten, you know since they didn't mention that important dungeon mechanic right away.

This is an underrated gem that unfortunately goes under the radar of most people and turn off some people due to they thinking that it was woke or something. Ridiculous reason, there's never a focus on romance at all in this series other than adventure, why can't they focus on that instead!? People nowadays...
