Like Pekora and Moona connecting, or EN 1st generation helping out with 2nd gen, or Watame and her music, or Coco retiring,... it just goes on and on. I know that they're each putting on their character, but like, let's use the example of a voice actor. If I was following a VA, following their anime career, I probably don't know a lot about their personal life, but I want them to get good roles and enjoy their career. Partly selfishly, so that I can enjoy it, but partly for their own sake. If they move up to a fulfilling career in a different industry, I will be sad to not see them around, but I would be very happy for them as well. It's the same for VTubers.

Authenticity is charming. The character stuff is a nice veneer, but what's charming is when you can see them talking for real or about their lives. Maybe the "mask" of a V-tuber makes it easier to be yourself. That's not to say that there isn't scripting but the script is often broken and I find that charming and wholesome.

Hololive really did improve my life in major ways. Got praised multiple times at my job because I started taking it seriously (since I could work while watching the streams). Started learning a lot more Japanese (because of the streams) even though I could understand anything anyway because of anime. Wanted to give something back that wasn't money to them so I started drawing fanarts (while watching the streams) and now I have over 20000 followers. Became happier in general because... I mean. Ayame's giggles, Fubuki's personality, Pekora's laugh, Rushia's voice, Coco's craziness, Aqua's cuteness, Marine's... Appeal. Oh and let's not forget the ships, the yuri, the gayness. That's the best part for me really even though I understand it's silliness, they're so cute together I can't lmao. And everything else. Like Gigguk, I got into Kizuna Ai for a while but it died down. When I got into vtubers in 2020 (mainly Hololive), I was surprised how regular and genuine these vtubers are. They have a portion of fictional character as support pillar and charm point they can default to, but they don't hesistate to express themselves, their interests are real, they have freedom to stream what they want, they talk about real life stuff occassionally. Don't be surprised if their real personality doesn't match the character, it's something that's often joked about especially when you compare their current selves to their debut streams, and it doesn't even matter, because in the end it's about the person inside. It's kind of amazing how as vtubers, they can completely remove themselves from their physical identity and real life reputation (being anonymous) and be completely who they want to be, or ultimately, who they are, because in the end, it's simply impossible to prevent your true self from showing through. But oh, it doesn't stop at individual personalities, but collaborations and real life relationships with other vtubers. It's the same thing here, it's partially wrestling show but also real underneath it, which shows sometimes more, sometimes less, and it's simply exciting and wholesome. And it has taught me is that at least 50% of girls are gay on some level, obviously not as much as viewers like to ship them, many of the relationships are just being genuinely good friends, like Pekora and Marine here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqS4pIqNaqiUd8U. A shoutout in general for Natsuiro Matsuri who is one of the most genuine, uncensored person I've found with confidence, relatable and interesting outlooks on things. As we know, real people are interesting, but on the other hand in some ways, anime > real life.
