Two years ago, I was a college drop out with nowhere to go and no plans for the future. I moved back in with my parents and felt like the biggest failure. For the past two years I’ve had an internal conflict about whether I was good enough, whether I my parents were proud of me.
So I took all those feelings of failure and let down and put them into this song. This is for anyone who has ever felt like they let their parents down, like they weren’t good enough, or like they messed up bad … this is for you.

I didn't realise how bad I thought I was until I was crying over this song. I'm not smart, I don't have any talents, I don't have many friends and I feel like I'm just here, just living. Well, i lost my mum when i was born. My father who drunk EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. He once got way TOO drung and pushed me to the ground. The police came and got him, now i live with my grandma who is my mum in a way cuz she raised me now im 13 and 6 years ago this happend to me. I never knew how it feels like to have a mother. you know for someone who is a mother i would've thought you knew that most parents think they are top of the word when they are around you. I cant even ask the question "why" in my household without getting lectured with, "Why must you know?" "*silence*" "I'm the mother you are the child i don't have to explain everything to you.". Its more difficult then you propose it to be and when you can't remember the last time your mother asked if you are ok its a slight issue.

This song helped wake me at one of the lowest points of my life. After I listened to it for the first time and hearing it accurately express everything I wish I could say to my parents, I cried all night, listening to it on repeat. I was never a bad kid, but I was too mature for my own good, not fitting in with my peers and not being taken seriously by those who were older than me. It made me extremely insecure and I became detached from the world around me, watching my life fall to pieces but unable to overcome the fear and anxiety of facing it. But I was able to rise above it and get my life back on a track I could control and now have more freedom than I could ever wish. Thank you Anna Clendening. I litterally cried so much😢😢😢 my grandma takes care of me cuz me parents are seperated so i live with my grandma. I been in a fight with her alot of times and i hated her when that happens. I am in a situation with my parents. Honestly, I am a spoilt brat and my parents treat me like a princess. This term at school I have been trying to get good grades and unfortunately that did not pay off(I didn't get the the good grades I wanted in every single subject I do). My dad had taken me out to get things for school and for my friend's birthday and then the next day I treat my dad like shit. My mother had payed for my new phone and I still treat her like shit. My parents had to move country for a better life and although they may not have the best education themselves they are trying to give me the best one they could possibly afford, like I have tutoring and my parents shout out my brothers to help me revise for a test(which I still do shit in). Not only that I want to be a role model to my younger brother but with me shouting at my parents, constantly that is not working. And my mother has a blood issue and it is affecting her leg a lot but dumbarse me doesn't even try to help her around the house, I fucking hate myself.Also, I am too scared to say sorry as I feel as it may feel awkward. Does anybody have any tips on how I could treat my parents better? wow gosh this is embarrassing.

Just remember that everything happens for a reason and there will always be someone who loves you even if you feel like no one does. It's ok to mess up. It's not ok to downgrade yourself because of it. If you find someone who loves you back grab them and never let go. If you find a healthy thing that interests you, do it. I love this song. I'm 23, and a manic depressant with social and generalized anxiety. Last year I had a bad break up. Which led me to loose a great job that most people would give a arm and a leg for, a current addiction to Xanax, and a suicide attempt that forever leaves its mark. The lyrics for me hits home, I went to a ministry today and was saved but i could not join their 6 month program until i'm sober for 10 days. So when it does happen I don't wanna have any regrets for the things I didn't/ did do.. Therefore, I help my parents as much as possible. This state of mind changed my life for the better. Now, I choose my parents over little things in life. I also spend as much time as possible so that when they do pass away I won't feel like I wasn't with them the whole time. So if you understand the reality without thinking about yourself but focusing on your parents, in the end you won't regret it. Also, there's another thing you have to know, do anything your parents ask of you, in the beginning you may receive nothing but in the end... You will be gifted with a happy life without regrets. I know I'm repeating the word : 'regret' a lot because think about it... Once someone has died, you literally cannot do anything.. You are hopeless... You can't change the past... Which means you will have to live with the pain of not being with your family. Even if you think your parents don't love you, remember that they do, you may think opposite but no. Even if you think that you have done so many bad things that your parents won't forgive you... Remember that they will. So go to your parents, and spend time with them. However don't say 'sorry' or any of that BS. If your are truly sorry it means that you will never do that thing again but we all make mistakes so it will probably happen.. listen to this advice as I have experienced times where I have done so many bad things that I thought my parents wouldn't forgive me but they did... How this kinda helped with your problem. Remember, you only live once so make the most of it.
