Unironically, drag queens helped me break down some of my learned biases against certian feminine things(I would say stuff like "I'm not that kind of gay"). Later on drag kings(and other forms of drag performers) helped me, a gay man, have a better understanding of masculine(and non-gendered expression) things that I didn't allow myself to have(just as drag queens helped with the feminine things). I think a lot of cishet men would benifit from drag kings becoming mainstream and an accepted form of expression. Someone (Bethany and Zethany) clearly missed that verse in the Bible where the Big J himself talks about how you shouldn't worry about a speck of dust in someone else's eye when you've got a plank in your own. Videos like these hit a lot closer to home for me. Christianity has given so much hope for me, my family, and so many others. I mean heck, thirty years ago my dad almost committed self-unalive, and the only thing that saved him was turning to Christ. My anxiety and depression would be so much harder to manage without faith in a greater Creator that keeps the world spinning so that I don't have to stress about it. That's why it always breaks my heart to see people like Girl Defined use it as a sword to cut down others. As a sidenote, I find it interesting that a vast majority of Christians so transphobic when Eve - the literal FIRST WOMAN IN SCRIPTURE - was created from the rib of Adam. AKA, created from the flesh of a man. So if you think about it, the argument could be made that Eve was the first trans woman, God gave our biology the ability to transition from male to female from day one. And there were eunichs, either self made or born that way and sometimes were part of religious ceremonies? I'm not too sure on my limited biblical knowledge. Also, for funsies and jokesies, it was originally Adam and Steve, Eve took the "St" out of her name so "Steve" is her deadname. God swapped out a gay couple with a straight couple where Eve is either considered trans, intersex, or both and Adam was a cishet man. Change my mind (:

That's so wild because while I'm not a Christian, I interpret sin to be living a life of serious crime without remorse or morals, not just wanting to bone the same gender as you lol. They think that lgbt people are the enemy, therefore they not only did this to themselves but they deserve it. They don't blame god because god must be perfect. There's no way he'd make a mistake. There is no place in GDs heads for questioning that (or anything, really). Therefore it must be those peoples choice to stray from god. As someone who's worked with over 50 children ages 0-8 I can tell you that they are not confused in the slightest by any lgbt+ views. The clothes are just cloth to them and as long as its fun and joyful, they love it. A girl once told a little boy in my work "oh I dont think you can wear this, it's a girl dress" while we were having dress up and play time. I told them calmly that a dress is a dress and anyone who likes it can wear it,as there's no such things as girl/boy dresses. They both looked at me and said "OK". Boy was happy in his dress and girl wore a shark costume and forgot about it. Simple. Kids only know what we teach them.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said, specifically the comment about the regression of gay acceptance. I've been witnessing it firsthand in my family. My mother, who was so accepting and embracing when it was just me out of the closet, has now completely turned against the community now that my sister and two of her children have come out as gay or trans. And it's just...I'm at a loss. I don't understand why this is happening ☠️

I think it's because we're at cross currents between people whose political identity has mutated into a cult-like state. Wherein they will destroy everything around them, including themselves, in order to remain within a certain "in group" politically. While this doesn't necessarily only happen to the right, especially terminally online conservatives, it's especially pronounced there.

It might be oversatuation for her. It’s like when people hate on popular shows because they’ve seen too much of it in the media. Perhaps she’ll get used to it and chill out as time goes on.
@fionatastic0.0702 жыл бұрын
You have every right to be mad at your mom because ultimately she’s choosing bigoted beliefs over you, but if I had to guess it’s because some moderate conservatives were willing to tolerate a little difference because it didn’t effect them that much, and even though it still doesn’t, they increasingly feel left behind in a changing world. Most conservatives literally have a larger amygdala (fear center) than liberals and leftists and I imagine that fear increases as their understanding of their place in the world decreases. The more queer people she sees, the more it feels like the world is changing at large.

I'm a christian queer woman. My version of "biblical womanhood" is knowing and acknowledging my true self, and I am so glad that my church has always been accepting of queer and trans people because having a place where my faith and my gender/sexuality are not at odds makes me feel so much more secure. I hate that there are groups of both cishet christians and atheist lgbtq+ people who seem to think the two sides are incompatible.

I went to a pride event when I was 11, there was a family-friendly drag show with a sign language translator. There were lots of aspiring queer singers that performed before the drag show. During the drag show, I saw a large audience that included people of all ages, genders, and sexualities. I met a married couple, a man and a woman who had toddlers with them watching the drag show.

Why does what society deems to be a woman change anything about her life? That’s what’s so baffling to me. The growing acceptance of trans women has changed NOTHING about my expression of my womanhood. If someone asks me my pronouns to be respectful, regardless of what I look like, that’s not gonna change how I feel about myself or any other aspect of my life. If someone who doesn’t look like your classic portrayal of a woman but identifies as a woman, that doesn’t affect me in the slightest. When people are asked to “define a woman” why does it even matter??

Turning to Jesus was my prescription by church counselors after I had some traumatic events happen in my life, after 4 years I was diagnosed by a psychiatrist with PTSD. I can say from experience I did the shit out of all the Jesus things, scripture study and prayers daily, it didn't cure my very real problems. A shocking conclusion I know, but maybe addressing the problems is best 💁♀
@PearlyKiss-5097 ай бұрын
Exactly. It’s only after you’ve reached a state where you’re more mentally stable and open to change that you’re willing to take such a gigantic step that is turning to Jesus. I have severe depression and anxiety and was religion averse becauseI associated it with cultish bigoted fanatics. It took me until revenge to accept Christ into my life but only because I was in a place where I was ready for change and was willing to commit to it. Had I been doing this if I were mentally unstable, I would’ve became the same out of touch fanatic that I loathed. God has a timing when it comes to finding him. You just need to take the time to find it before you take that next step. I know that wasn’t the point you were trying to make but I thought it would be nice to address it.
