Great classy video as always! Another point, here in the US at least, I could not find enough charging stations that actually worked for a “plugin hybrid” I had bought…and so I traded that car and got a good old combustion engine car! On the other hand big car manufacturers like Porsche are quickly replacing their gas cars with electric…I personally am definitely not switching to fully electric until a fast and reliable charging network is seen and also until the valid battery life concerns are addressed fully! Just my 2 cents! 😀

Hi Anna, I have not driven an EV, only a hybrid. Couple of points, infrastructure at least here in England is poor. Insurance is rising due to EV’s as they are written off after relatively minor damage. Charging costs are rising steadily, and incentives to change are reducing. Road tax is going to be applied to EV’s here soon. I did enjoy the cat impression 😊 but I must take issue with you over V10 versus V8. It’s V8, then V10 then V12. Talking of V8’s, we had 800 Mustang’s at the 60th anniversary meeting at the British motor museum on the 13th of April.😊 That’s a lot of pony’s 😊😊

Hi Paul, yes absolutely, I have spent a bit of time in the Cotswolds last year and I have to say, it's just too difficult with EV. If you haven't got a home charger. EV benefits will slowly start to disappear and this is the reality. But I do love that glorious V10 in the R8, oh it is special. So special. But you're right, Mustang is my fav car and that beefy V8 is intoxicating!

I’m waiting for battery improvement. I live in Oz and our distances between country towns is long and arduous. The Porsche Macan electric is definitely going to be my next choice. You’re such a funny Polish babe. Love the meows 😜

I think battery tech would have to improve before I consider an EV. Solid state batteries should make existing battery technology obsolete overnight when it comes to the market
@AnnaOnRoads6 ай бұрын
Absolutely. And I wonder if they'll be able to replace current batteries with new ones. In some cases, probably yes, in others - no. Imagine the amount of cars that will become available and will be worth nothing...

Another informative video Anna very well presented. It's very true about the handling for like for like EV v ICE cars and this will be more noticeable when cornering on slippery surfaces like compacted snow going down hill, the shear extra mass will try and push you straight on. I guess the upside is that an EV will make you burn more calories when you have to push it uphill if you run out of sparks. That extra mass will also take its toll on tyres, even more so if you have a heavy right foot. I look forward to the next one.

Hi Anthony, thank you very much. Absolutely, not many people want to admit that weight is a problem. I mean most EVs are as heavy as Rolls Royce for the 70s. Heavier cars are polluting more, they are damaging our roads faster and the list goes on!

Well, if you can charge at home, driving mostly in a local area and no long distances, can manage the significant decrease in range in winter , enjoying very low electric car leasing rates and are still owning a petrol or diesel car ... then you should consider an EV. 😌

Anna, as usual you have demonstrably excelled in providing an objective view of electric vehicles. I was reading recently that in NZ electric vehicles will soon be required to emit a noise. This will be entertaining as to what sound they produce. Maybe the rumble of a v8 or even v10 engine ! 😂. Best wishes from the Sth Pacific.

What is YOUR experience with EVs?
@adithyaramachandran74276 ай бұрын
Been good so far, but the charging can be an issue if you are going long distances off the highway. It’s great for commuting & day trips, and the advanced driver assistance packages available on all EV’s help with day to day driving in traffic. If you are a white collar worker living in the US sunbelt, they are ideal.

@@adithyaramachandran7427 great to hear and yes, I do agree, long distances can be challenging, when it works, it's brilliant but when it doesn't, it becomes so frustrating, you keep asking yourself, why on earth have I done it?!

It’s an interesting subject. there’s something about a combustion engine going around corners hearing that engine. I see these videos of China’s EV wasteland thousands and thousands of EV just sitting there rotten away .ps love anna in teacher mode as a man I only listen to half a conversation so I had to watch this video twice to get the whole thing.lol

We’ve been an EV only family for 6 years in the states. We’ll never go back to ICE. I don’t drive EVs for the speed or to save the planet. I enjoy the convenience of having a “full tank” every morning, low maintenance, the tech, fun to drive, etc. Road trips around 10-12 hrs are no problem, anything more we might consider renting a car or flying. We only road trip 0-3 times a year so that’s not a big issue. No concerns with battery life. Between battery technology, statistics, and history, batteries last well over 10 yrs. Are their outliers where they fail, sure. But statistically those failures are far and few in between.

And there you go, you are the living example that one doesn't need to want to save the planet to own an EV. I do think it is a super convenient solution for people who don't drive long distances, can charge at home - it's clean and convenient. And some just don't care about the sound. In fact, probably most don't.

Just watched the Electric Gran Prix of Monaco. Silent and just as fun without deafening the crowd. And IC cars can't compete with them, so what is the point? Maybe Mazda has the right idea by giving you IC engine sounds that are exact, that you can play with when you want.

Claiming that EVs are faster in cities or outside of them and therefore more of a danger to animals is a manipulation. Also I have never heard of an animal that can distinguish a petrol engine sound from afar and not get run over by it.

Perhaps it is worth watching the video once again as I have never claimed EVs are faster in cities. I spoken purely what the lack of sound does. Also don't be ridiculous, my cat told me everything.

Hi Anna battery cars are disposable cars just like old phones, when the battery gets knackered the phone is useless add into that they aren't environmentally friendly and they tend to catch fire alot and the fire cannot be extinguished meaning they are left to burn out. They are very expensive to buy have terrible range and depreciation on them make them unsustainable for working class people who are struggling with the cost of lockdown crisis!

How come so many EV chargers are out of order. I rarely see diesel pumps in that condition. Also range anxiety. Battery being depleted more quickly if the lights/a/c/radio etc.. are used. Also time needed to charge. There are myriad other situations which ensure that I will NOT be buying an ev anytime soon. Thanks for the tips Anna.
