Awww, I never wanted it to end. At 13, in 1985, I loved this movie so much I'd dress like Anne around the house (in my baby sister's bonnet), pick weed flowers and try and recite the Lady of Shallot just the way Anne says it. It may be a Canadian classic, but I was Anne in Australia.

Anne With An E got me, somebody who never grew up with the story, to fall in love with these characters. Now I've discovered that it was my grandmother's favourite childhood story (it's very similar to her own life story), so now every version of this story feels like I'm close to her. I'm so glad that these wonderful, magical characters have been passed down the generations.♡

I remember my mom and I would check out this movie free from the library. We would check it out every week to watch over and over. We were very poor and couldn't afford to rent VHS movies (the 90s). As a child, this movie opened up a world for me, that I still remember to this day. Such a beautiful, wholesome story.

Without a doubt, this was the absolute best Anne and also Marilla. Probably Anne of Green Gables in particular is one of the few series that I will remember for the rest of my life and every time you get melancholy. It was played so beautifully.

The first short novel i ever read was when I was 8 years old and it was Anne of Green Gables. Im an aboriginal Australian so a white ginger person is basically the opposite of what I am. (Dark skin dark hair and eyes) but I remember from kindergarten that I thought gingers were the most beautiful people that I'd ever seen and I think reading Anne of Green Gables had a very big impact when it came to that. I still think gingers are the most beautiful people and its just more proof that opposites really do attract sometimes. I eventually snagged my own ginger husband and ginger son!!! The more red and freckly the better I say!!!

This is the cutest comment Ive ever read! 😂 What you said its so true! I was white and grew up in a very mixed family full of dark skin latinos, blacks, and asians. I didnt like being white and somehow my kids got all the qualities I wanted😁My first has freckles and curly hair, my youngest got the beautiful tanned skin, and my third has the beautiful Asian eyes. Their father also came from a similar mixed background so they were just born that way. They all look alike, you can tell they are siblings but different at the same time. Its quite amazing!

Only three got turned into movies, but I am starting to binge the series, and whether or not you have read them before, it's so fun jumping into the series that we love so much and rediscovering moments and characters/ friends. ^-^

I love Anne of Green Gables, I grew up watching her since I am from Canada.. I visited PEI all of the time but one year when I was at least 10 or 11 my Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle, and Mom took me to go see Anne of Green Gables the play, and a tour of Anne's actual house... it was beautiful! Anne of Green Gables will always have a special place in my heart 😍❤😍

The cherry on top of the entire Anne of Green Gables series whether be the books, adaptations or Netflix show, is that it is a beloved Canadian story and different generations have had the opportunity to enjoy it. I first watched this in 1991 and have watched it countless times since This 'Anne of Green Gables' is suoerb. I just love the characters, scenery, the storyline and the music from that period. Love the costumes too. Marilla's peppery character is the perfect foil for Anne's unstoppable penchant for getting into trouble.

This was my big sisters fave movie whenever she felt down or just in general. We would often watch together when we wanted to feel cozy. I couldn’t watch it for years as it made me too sad. Richard Farnsworth seemed to be about the same age for the last.20 years of his career. Always looked about 70. Great actor. He never made a move that wasn't absolutely real. I look forward to seeing this. Didnt.grow up with the story. But THE STRAIGHT STORY is one of my favorite films, Farnsworth a favorite actor.
