I bought the latest version about a year ago and could not be happier. I anneal primarily .223 cases. The latest version is digital with an on/off switch. The odd thing is when I plug it in, it is automatically "on." A setting of 42-43 melts the Templac 750 painted inside the necks. It's pretty much a "set it and forget it" set up. Very consistent. I let the cases drop out on a towel placed under it. They were out of the pans when I ordered mine and the sell discounted the price accordingly.

Added a carry handle to top center, rear (used a chrome kitchen drawer handle, large size from Home depot) Also took Elfster's advice and added a voltmeter, but installed it in a case, mounted top front right side, as not to interfere with the carry handle. Also, relocated the power jack to the right side, and plugged the hole with a stainless sink plug from Home Depot. I marked the 12 O'clock and 4 O'clock positions with a felt marker to show wheel alignment for ease of swapping out different size wheels. Also, at Cabela's you can buy a plastic base that the propane tank sits in to give it added stability. 1 last mod, just relocated hose from the front to the right side as well, really cleans up the front and reduces stress on hose to torch connection, used a sink plug to fill front hole from hose as well. And most important, as Elfster recommends, a fire extinguisher, just because your dealing with an open flame, safety first!!

With 308 and 6.5 on the Gen 1 Annealeez I get bridges all the time. I am used to it now. I still love the machine. Wouldn't give it up. Jeff is a great guy. I need to order some new wheels. I just wish there were some better views of where the flame needs to be exactly on the case. I have had some issues with different cases running through on the same setting will come out too hot and some not getting hot enough and this is straight 308 and straight 6.5, not cut down 308 or cut down 7.62x51 Lake City. Just weird how much difference can be within the brass within the same caliber. Definitely, recommend the Annealeez if you have the cash.

Watched a video by Erik Cortina wherein he ran brass in the flame for various lengths of time, seems the temperature window is more forgiving than some seem to think. The real issue is consistency in your own process for reproduceable results. One video he over annealed and did not resize after whereas on a follow up he did resize after annealing, seemed the resize after set the neck tension better. At least that is what I interpreted from the video.

Just watching this on 12-13-2020, a tweak and a comment come to mind. The tweak hopefully a simple on/off switch will be added to eliminate the need to unplug the power in the first place, adding a switch and an led power indicator would be my first mod. Comment is that once I had my flame intensity adjusted as desired I would probably not turn the knob on the torch given there is a knob on top of the bottle, simply shut the fuel off there, let the flame die, remove the bottle from the hose, done! Of course that will require attention to that fact when getting ready for the next session, which some may not want to have to remember.

how does it work for large rim cases such as 30-30, 303b, 45-70? all hopper style annealers I've looked at are demonstrated with standard cases such as .223, 308 etc.

Hi, I'm in the middle of building one of these, but I can't get hold of the black nylon wheel that transfers the brass from the hopper. I presume it's nylon? Could you give me the details you used in your internet search to find this type of item? Also, could you give me it's width, depth, and center hole diameter. I'm in the UK. Thank-you in advance. J.

Dumb question, but could you add a small vibrator motor to prevent bridging?
@ElfstersRiflesandReloading
@ElfstersRiflesandReloading 5 жыл бұрын
IMO it isn’t a big deal on the bridging.... why, there is an open flame 🔥 and it’s not like you’re going to walk away from the unit while annealing. If you get some bridging then just manually fix it. Adding some type of vibration just sounds dangerous with a unit that has an open flame 🔥
@vladmirputin7139
@vladmirputin7139 5 жыл бұрын
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading I don't see why open flame would be an issue with vibration. I made one of those DIY annealers and usually let it run while I work on something else nearby. Just seems like it would be an easy addition to prevent bridging.
@ElfstersRiflesandReloading
@ElfstersRiflesandReloading 5 жыл бұрын
Problem is keeping the brass evenly rolling on the bottom wheel and I think vibration wouldn’t help. Just giving my opinion.

Hi Elfster, Realistically how many firings can we get from good quality brass like Lapua or Starline or Peterson that is annealed and minimally sized , for example bump sized 0.001 to 0.002 every time or neck sized ? And how often should we anneal our cases , after the 3rd or 5th or 8th or 10th firings? Or do we just anneal our new unfired cases and then forget about it until we scrap em ? Cheers 🍻
@ElfstersRiflesandReloading
@ElfstersRiflesandReloading 3 жыл бұрын
Really depends on the cartridge and more importantly if its semi auto vs bolt action. A bolt action can see firings over 10 with semi auto under 10

I remember 20 years ago knowable reloaders used to heat their brass until it just started to turn a cherry red colour then they would dump em in water . That seemed to work for I dare say thousands of reloaders without any problems. Do you think heating brass until they just started to turn cherry red actually damaged or reduced the life of the brass for old time reloaders ? Cheers 🍻
@ElfstersRiflesandReloading
@ElfstersRiflesandReloading 3 жыл бұрын
Cherry 🍒 red IN MY OPINION is wayyy too hot. The second it starts to glow get it out of the flame.. if you see the color of the flame turn orange 🍊 🔥 then you're burning elements out of the brass

@bucmeister7713
@bucmeister7713 3 жыл бұрын
The only potential issue I can see is that you might not be able to stack the hopper completely full and have the rims not cause a bit of trouble, the rim might would actually be behind the wheels, especially if you were to put a washer or two on the shaft before putting the wheels on. Since the brass you are asking about has some length and the shafts obviously have extra threads to allow such home modification that would be my first attempt on rimmed brass.
