I think A+ is a great board for many projects. Zero takes it step further by redusing the size, doubling the ram and having all connectors on the same side of the board. Zero would have been in my "must buy"-list even for the price of A+. It costs $5? "Shut up and take my money!"

This is perfect for projects with very specific functions that don't deserve their own $35 computer, like a control circuit for all my Christmas lights running on a python script with the gpio pins controlling them. I wrote and tested everything on the SD with a Pi 2B which is my primary pi and I just took the sd afterwards, moved all the header pins to the zero and powered with a cheap Pi battery.

This might convince me to actualy learn how to use these. I mean for $5 i can just grab a handfull of them and use them for tons of cool projects. Turn any TV in to a smart TV for $5. build a micro portable computer in an Altoids tin.... SO MANY FUN THINGS

+Robert Briggs thx for giving me my new Altoids project idea, +make you should give it a try.
@Moostery9 жыл бұрын
My idea is an altoids tin laptop type thing. Maybe snatch a screen off a scrap phone or just buy a cheap $20 phone to steal a screen from. Put the screen on the inside of the lid and the guts in the main section and a few buttons for basic usage without a keyboard attached. maybe for multimedia or something/ My problem? I have no idea how to program what so ever and I would have no chance of finding a way to connect the screen to it haha.

+Rafay Shams If the processor isn't too slow, you should - in theory - be able to connect a USB camera, like a webcam for example, to it. It won't be tiny anymore, thogh, and the cumera will likely cost more than the computer. Plus you'd need a nub to connect anything else to it, which will likely too cost more than the pi0.

+Danish Joshi Well, CHIP has more connectivity (WiFi, Bluetooth) so if you want that, the Pi0 won't work. Also, while generally similar, it seems tg go for a slightly different concept, as far is I can judge from the short video on their site. Oh, and don't forget the Pi0 still needs an SD cart, while the CHIP has 8 gigs of integrated memory, but apparently no Expansion options beyond that (apart from external drives).

+Girl With the nerdy tattoo :- I don't think it really designed to run desktop distributions. I've Ubuntu MATE 15.10 installed on an overclocked and overvolted Pi2 and that's acceptable at a push. I have another overclocked and overvolted Pi2 running openELEC and it zips along quite merrily. The Pizero should run OS's like openELEC and the headless Raspbian Jessie lite without breaking a sweat. However, I really doubt it's desktop capabilities.
