I remember stumbling upon August's videos during December 2020 when I was trying to build my own system in Notion. I started off with the Annual review and then slowly built my PPV system by watching the videos. Without any exaggeration, implementing the whole PPV system has changed my life, making me more efficient on my projects and life aspirations. I have done much more than I would have without August and PPV. For anyone wondering if it is worth it to go through almost 50 videos of the channel, I highly recommend you to start doing it now and build your system slowly.

@@luispriego12 Hi Luis! Happy New Year! It is still going pretty smooth. I went a bit off-track by trying to implement PPV in LogSeq, then getting burnt-off because LogSeq is still not mature enough to have that. The only reason I am away from Notion is because of the data lock-in. But I still follow the PPV system, and try to add my own databases to extend it for myself.

Now it is clear how to implement from a system's perspective a linked Guiding Principles. However, what I struggle the most is in feeling it every time I am reviewing it and not just skipping it or reading it in a shallow way. How one does achieve to feel those words and touch its very own being every time that reads those principles I think is one of the most high value skills to ever learn. To answer this question I think it could be interesting how religious scholars go through their sacred writings. I remember visiting once a sinagoge in Paris where I catched the Rabbi singing the texts he was reading alone in a corner just for himself. Religions are specialized in methods to integrate beliefs, so they could very well help on designing a ritual to integrate our own designed Guiding Principles. Thanks for the videos August!

Implementing this system into my life this past summer was such a worthwhile investment and greatly helped accelerate my business as a freelancer. I fell off the tracks the past 5 weeks but looking forward to hopping back on with my annual review and kicking off the year with some momentum

The system is designed to make recoveries relatively painless just start from today, don’t go back and enter any past dates. Re-engage and implement from today onward. No self judgement, just commit to implementing effectively going forward. Make big things happen in the new year!

PHEW. I just finished my planning and really late!... I mean, I had to create new dashboards for each Pillar and really think on the existing ones and improve them to feel like I was done. Man, it can take a lot of work, all of it while informally starting my projects and building habits. Next year I will just take note on the improvements and implement them later on to just get done first with my annual review and planning. Thank you very much August!

Hi August, I initially found your channel because I was trying to figure out how to use Notion. I knew the instant I saw your system it would be super powerful in organizing and planning my life. I have learned how to use Notion and so much more. I have followed you through each video and have carefully recreated each database and dashboard with your help. I love seeing hints of the updates to your databases in this video. Every update you have done streamlines this system even more. PLEASE do a video on Guiding Principles. I’m anxious to learn everything I can about PPV. One day, when I am financially able, I will take your paid course. That’s one of my Value Goals. 😉 I love what you do, and excited to see what’s next! Thank you putting all this valuable info here for free.

The most amazing thing about annual review is that we can analyze the qualitative and quantitative data collected from our daily tracking, weekly reviews, monthly reviews and quarterly reviews. Then based on the analysis of the data, we see the repeated patterns of our past behaviors and come up with solutions to address them. I also came to realize that mind map is a great way to summarize the emerged problems and solutions and make things clearer. Doing annual review with the combination of Notion PPV system and mind map really helps add more clarity to what matters to me and what harms me. Thanks for this insightful video, August. Looking forwards to more general productivity videos on your channels, like the ones about guiding principles. I'm really interested.

Hey, I've started watching your videos a week ago, and I love the whole system and especially the knowledge lab, it is just perfect. The fact that I can take some notes or save some article to remember later related to a topic without worrying about remembering it, knowing that it will be there for me when I need it, is just amazing. Also, the Alignment Zone really makes you think twice about the things you do in your life, as in whether you actually want to do them or not. So, just wanted to thank you for all the videos and looking forward to the upcoming ones. Wish you all the best August!

Your system has solved so many productivity problems I've been trying to solve for years from other platforms, and I have much better peace of mind knowing that my everyday actions are aligning with my long term goals and aspirations. You definitely cover all the bases and leave no stone unturned. For anyone on the fence on incorporating August's PPV system due to its comprehensiveness and complexity, IT'S WORTH IT! Am thinking the ‘Sync blocks’ feature can be used to populate the Annual Review portion such that each year’s review can sit in both the actual year of review and as a duplicate for easy reference in the upcoming year during Annual Planning.

So many systems focus on horizontal components, but this annual planning perfectly highlights your vertical orientation. Pull that string, is it still connected to the top? Time to pull down those high-level goals and aspirations and plant them in your projects and habits for the new year! These questions should help me do that - so, thanks!

Hi August. Brilliant video as usual. I wondered what your thoughts are on where ‘areas of focus and accountabilities’ would fit into PPV (more from a perspective of using PPV as a personal life operating system but working in a corporate environment). I have considered job accountabilities as a pillar, and current ‘areas of focus’ as a value goal - but keen to hear your thoughts? Although I have been practicing PPV since you launched it on on YT, I have resisted the goals pipeline, as I find it time consuming and difficult linking pillars/value goals/goal outcomes/projects. However I’m determined to give it a try this year as I sense I will find much value in ‘monitoring’ the progress toward my higher-level aspirations (and thus the empowerment to course-correct when required). Thanks Peter

Thank you for these videos sir, I have a question regarding related database entries. Sometimes entries have the same name, for instance Jan 1 from 2 separate years or tasks with the same name. How do you make sure the old entry doesn’t show when you search in order to link databases. Archiving entries removes their link to other databases and there doesn’t seem to be a way to filter search entries according to date or some other property.
@augustbradley
@augustbradley 2 жыл бұрын
They all have date properties to sort by. But starting a year ago a began adding years to the title names as well. Makes it easier to search for them. Good thoughts!

During my Daily Insight, I use relative name "@Today" to name my day(page). "@Today" updates automatically as days progress. This approach, however, does not work for past days. There you'd need to be explicit in naming your page(s).
@augustbradley
@augustbradley 2 жыл бұрын
@@milananderle4400 yes, I was doing exactly the same until I started using an automation from Zapier to auto create each new day with a title set as the date. What you are doing is the best approach of doing it manually.

Hi August Thank you for sharing the PPV system with us. It is indeed very generously of you. I am in the midst of building mine but have a question: Do we build a separate system or account (away from our usual PPV) for the following scenarios? (1) MBA course with different subjects and different topics for each subject. (2) if we track our meal patterns (eg whether cook at home or eat out, what we cook for each meal and recipes) Thank you

Hello August, thank you so much for your help about notion, I was wondering if it is possible that one day notion could be bought by another bigger company, and then completely disappear? It happened with others applications such as wunderlist that has been bought by Microsoft to do.
@augustbradley
@augustbradley 2 жыл бұрын
Seems extremely unlikely to me. First because Notion's valuation is so high it would be extremely expensive. 2 because their plans expect a much higher valuation to come. And 3 the owners want to control and shape the future.
@HeyTylerMartin

Would you say Notion is robust enough to hold several years worth of PPV, without slowing down the program or bogging down searching & filtering, or would you need to have different databases for different years?
@augustbradley
@augustbradley 2 жыл бұрын
It can handle many years, not a problem. If you wish, you can always duplicate a high volume database and label it as an archive, then drag older entries into it. But not necessary.
