If, like me, she was freelance there will be no pension or redundancy payment. Many of the voices you used to hear on BBC local radio were not on staff and only got paid for the programmes they presented. Basically they were on zero hours contracts.

Did you not see what the post office did to all those post office managers with a faulty software system? Many committed suicide or went to prison because of a computer fault saying they stole thousands of pounds.! And who stuck up for them? Only Andrew Bridgen . So no nothing like the post office!!!!

I actually think that at 74 she HAD to be retired, If you are doing cuts people over pensionable age have to go first. I would pay more attention if it was Gary Lineker or Zoe Ball that was being laid off. Refund your License fee, Defund the BBC.

Local radio is a community and even national radio,, especially through the small hours. I work nights, love listening to folk calling in and chatting, apart from Doton on 5live at night time, the airwaves are dying! Podcasts seem the way to go now but, theres no community in that.

Nothing against this person as an individual, but retiring at 74 means she had a good run. Everyond gets put out to pasture eventually. It is highly doubtful that this is anything to do with budgetary pressures.

Is it possible that the savings they are making by butchering local radio is offsetting the losses they’re are making from falling licence fee income. If that is so doesn’t it mean that the gravy train for Lineker,Ball,Vine and co. will continue ??

I first heard Alex Hall way back in 1988 when TFM replaced the commercial Radio Tees station & she's always been very good as a presenter. I'm sure she did a stint on BBC Radio York before coming back up to Teesside to present on BBC Radio Cleveland ; the station was rebranded circa 2009/10. The problem with the so-called funding problems the BBC are supposedly having (B.S !!!!) are nothing new. In the 70's, they wanted to introduce a 4th FM channel. Everybody, including the UK government, assumed it was for Radio 1 right ?....WRONG !. The BBC wanted it for an education channel....WTF !!!!. Unsurprisingly the government turned it down. Even today, BBC radio planning is a farce. If they wanna make savings, why not merge 5 Live Sports Extra's programming into Radio 4 Extra's schedules. Why did they introduce a second Radio Cymru channel in Wales ?. Why are some BBC Local Radio stations still transmitting on AM when the bulk of the audience prefer FM or DAB ?. That's where the real savings can be made. Of course that involves 2 words BBC management prefer to avoid...."common sense". They have become so self-obsessed with their woke agenda that they're plummeting into self-destruction. It will happen sooner or later & it'll serve them right when it does

I used to listen to metro radio only from 22.00 to 02.00 when Alan Robson was doing night owls until that stupid bloody ofcom stuck there noses where it was not wanted as a result of them sticking there noises in they went and reformed the whole radios stations in the uk where they had to have four hours of local radio and the rest playing music hence why they let Alan Robson go and never listened to metro radio again then greatest hits had him on for a while until they got rid of him again so that’s another radio station I don’t listen to anymore So in fact I don’t listen to any radio stations or watch live tv even bbc iPlayer as there’s better ways of listening and watching the content without the dj talking over the song and having physical media on dvd that’s on some are on the bbc iPlayer which I still don’t use
