I am 30 weeks pregnant with our baby girl after struggling with infertility for 2.5 years. I never thought I'd be here and all of the things you said had me sobbing. Infertility was the hardest thing I've ever faced. Thank you for speaking about it because I felt seen and I hope others who struggle too get to feel that. This journey was so hard. I also love that you are talking about the No Birth Plan birth plan. I just want this baby here. No matter what we have to do and epidural, yes please. My hospital and OB seem like they know what they are doing. I trust they will take care of us.

I'm a labor and delivery nurse and it's weird that you felt pressure to not have an epidural because I would rather have the mom as comfortable as possible so she has a good birth experience. I am there 12 hours regardless of how long you are in labor....lol. As long as I've been doing this I'm still in awe that we, as women, created this perfect little part of us.....sounds corny, but each birth is special and unique.

Beth Hughes I found that weird too I had a nurse constantly ask me do you want an epidural every ten minutes till I found the pain was too much for me and when I said yes the anaesthesiologist was there in a matter of seconds.

Beth Hughes the best memory of my son’s birth were the labor and delivery nurses! I remember each and every one (it was a long one, DON’T ask about the doctors on duty 😂) with great fondness. One month he graduates college ❤️

Cee Cee I'm so glad you had a good experience! All the nurses I work with know that having a baby is stressful and painful. It's such a mixed bag of emotions and we want each patient to be as comfortable as possible so it can be as pleasant as possible. Obviously we honor the birth plan they come in with, but we support their decisions all the way. I had a terrible labor and delivery, so maybe that contributes to my style of nursing......
@bethhughes430

@@amalzuhair4495 yeah. That's how I am. If they come in knowing 100% that they want an epidural I recommend that they got it as soon as they can. It makes everything so much easier for them! I don't care if it takes longer for the baby to arrive.....it's not about me. Most people remember more about the nursing staff than the doctors.....lol. A mom spends so much more time during labor with the nurses. The doctor may be in and out, but not there like the nurses. Many l&d nurses have ended up starting the delivery process until a doctor makes it in, and the doctor gets all the credit!!! Lol The honest truth is your body knows what to do. It's really pretty amazing!

Miles is so cute!! I just had my first baby, a beautiful boy named Forrest, 16 days ago and my birth didn't go as planned. I had a birth preference, not necessarily a birth plan and I'm glad that I was open to my options. I wanted to go natural and I got to 8 cm before getting the epidural (was in labor for about 20 hours). I got it because my body was in so much distress, I developed an infection and 102.5° fever from my water being broken too long. I was in so much pain, was extremely shakey, FREEZING, and exhausted!! I was 30 minutes away from them prepping me for a c- section when I felt the urge to push. I feel if I hadn't got the epidural, my body would've never relaxed enough to give birth vaginally. Even though I didn't want the epidural (due to my own personal fears) I'm so glad I got it. After I gave birth, my fever climbed to 103.2°. It was wild! My son had to go to the NICU to get treated for the infection as well so they took him away fairly quickly after birth. Even though things didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped, I have a perfectly healthy and beautiful baby boy. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!! I guess I'm writing this to encourage women to listen to your bodies. Do what's right in the moment and trust your judgment. Our bodies are badass and they'll get through it! As soon as you hold your baby, everything else goes out the window.

Something to remember after you have a baby: You created a baby in approx. 9 months. It's very reasonable to allow 9 months after to slowly readjust your body back to as much of "normal" as will happen. I was told that by a midwife that was involved with my 2nd birth (and I was doing it at age 38, which made losing that little bit of weight extra hard to budge). It's ok to work on it but we need to be more gentle with ourselves during that time.

I suffered with severe postpartum depression after my first child and had to be medicated. It was The Worst mental pain I have Ever had. With my second I had already been taking the medication so the depression had subsided. However, I still experienced baby blues. Basically I would be sitting in the park with my new baby on a beautiful sunny spring morning, but I felt just so sad and depressed. With my first child, I couldn't even think about anything normal without feeling intense dread. I am definitely greatful for having the medication already with my second child.

I think it was awesome that you opened up about those things, especially about infertility. My husband and I have had infertility for over seven years, one known pregnancy loss and we closed the chapter on being able to conceive with my surgery which revealed all the damage that was causing our infertility. You nailed it when you said that until you experience not being able to have a child, you will do anything...that is so true and there is, unfortunately, so much judgment about infertility... We ended up adopting because we wanted to be parents and it was the way that we both felt comfortable with...and we love our daughter who brings us so much joy! I am sorry for your losses, I know it was not easy! Thank you for sharing! You guys have a beautiful family! ..one more thing, your blog post on your infertility story and then conceiving your son...resonated with me in so many levels! Thank you for being open because infertility is that dark and quiet pain that no one dares to talk about...

I am so happy that you made this video! Speak the truth 🙌🏻😂!!! I also struggled to conceive for a long while- but the second time around got pregnant without actually trying! 😆 now I have two! I hope this happens for you!!! 💕 I also struggled with breastfeeding- it’s so hard without the knowledge and confidence 😅 I took your advice and hired a Lactation consultant the second time around- made all the difference! Now my girl is nearly 6 weeks and we are still EBF!!! 🕺🏻

The infertility question and answer got me. It took us 2 years to conceive our 2 month old son. It is such s lonely process. You are 100% right though, looking at my boy now makes it all worth it!

I'm with you on epidurals. I'm not so scared of the pain as much as I want to be able to take naps and feel calm during this whole process. But we'll see. I don't want to get too attached to any birth plan, and I want to be able to adapt quickly if things come up.

With my daughter I had an epidural, but my water broke at home and I was 5cm when it did, so contractions were intense from the get-go, and I had back labor. With my son I didn’t have time for an epidural (got to the hospital at 9cm and 30 minutes later I had him), once again had back labor and giving birth had NOOOOTHING on my contractions. Like it was seriously such a relief being able to push and having something to focus on!

Also, I have a friend who took years and years and so many different interventions before they had their baby. And then I believe her second was not at all planned! Pregnancy kind of resets your body! I know everybody is different, but for anyone who struggled having a baby, be reeeaaaal careful afterward and don't think your previous fertility issues will provide you with birth control. 😳 It might happen a lot more easily the second time around!

I was really nervous about pooping while giving birth, too ! 🤣 I don’t think I ever have but I don’t watch myself give birth so maybe I do and they just never told me. 🤭🤔😂 Also it made me tear up when you teared up and said you’d do it all a thousand times over again because it’s worth all the pain and discomfort when you hold your little baby in your arms. I can totally relate to that feeling. I’ve had 5 babies and it never gets old. ❤️❤️ Things I miss after pregnancy are feeling baby kicks and seeing my belly bulge out! I love when my hubby can feel the baby kick, too. Really special moments to cherish forever. I loved this video Kallie! Thanks for sharing. 💕

Thanks for this! I had the similar situation as I lost 2 pregnancies until I conceived my son. OMG! I loved the Tucks pad and unfortunately didn't start using them until after a week and those mesh panties, I loved them, washed them and I still have them, lol. I had to tell myself to stop wearing them.

I love listening to other womens' experience with birth and postpartum! One thing I'll say about your period coming back - mine came back just before 6 months postpartum, even while I was breastfeeding - is that you'll know when it's coming. I was SO scared of just being surprised by it one day. But you will notice the change as you body goes back into a normal rhythm with all of the normal PMS type symptoms in the lead up. I could tell it was starting back up 2-3 weeks before it came, so I knew to be prepared when it did. Hopefully this helps someone!

I had my 2nd baby in January via a natural water birth at a midwife clinic. If I was at the hospital I probably would’ve wanted an epidural but knowing the only way out was through at the clinic made me persevere (like I had a choice lol) but it was amazing and I’m so glad I did it that way. Feeling your baby travel down the birth canal is otherworldly.

I'm due in a few weeks and really want a natural birth experience (including the pain and all the labor feels) I have to have it at the hospital and am so nervous because the doctors there might be pushy about getting one(an epidural) 😬
