What I don't understand is when Ken ask Bill what does it all mean if when we die there's nothing, Bill continuously states that it's for the people in the future that we hope to pass down information or find a new energy source for them. And when Ken ask Bill when those people are dead, why does it all matters, he still just speaks of passing down information to people the future. It seems to me that if you have two brain cells you can figure out that Ken is speaking of when every and all humans are dead. Yet bill keeps responding with the same answer of people of the future and handing down information to them. I don't know if he's doing this on purpose, or if he really doesn't grasp what Ken is trying to ask him. As a scientist, bill should be really interested in the evidence of the Bible

I respectfully hate the argument of what’s the purpose of living if there’s nothing after. If there’s nothing after then this truly is your only chance at experiencing life itself, meaning this is your one chance to do anything at all. You shouldn’t live to die you should be grateful that you’re here and take advantage that you can experience life
@wayvire6126 Жыл бұрын
The point is that nothing matters. You can do anything without lasting consequence. Morals in a society mean nothing because the society wont exist long anyway. What is the point of living a happy life, or a sad life. What is the point of learning or going to school, or even watching this debate? It's like playing a video game for a hundred hours and then deleting the save file. What was the point of even doing it in the first place. What morals do we have against slavery or murder or causing anyone else pain, they wont ever remember it when they are dead. There are vast impacts in the ideology of nothing after we die.

@@wayvire6126 you see now you’re going into personal reasoning, it’s not up to me to define to you why you should live your life. If you decide to live your life because you find comfort in that there’s something after for you that’s great, however I don’t necessarily find it healthy to live and do things for the soul reason just to die. I could switch the question right back to you. What’s the point of you doing anything here if there’s something waiting for you. I understand following a moral code but why waste time doing anything else because when you go you’re life will be better. Do you see why having this argument is pointless? Again I’m not knocking your beliefs. If believing in a god makes you do the right things for you that’s fantastic. But please don’t downplay or belittle me because I choose not to believe what you do by posing a question that you yourself can’t even answer.
@wayvire6126 Жыл бұрын
@@k1ngf3lon92 Sorry, I am not trying to belittle you or your way of life. I'm fine with you living your life your way (lawfully of course). It just doesn't make sense to me. To me, your perspective is "living just to die." To live in the moment because tomorrow will never come, the whole "eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die." The fact that I have eternity ahead of me makes me think more about how i live in the present. I am not living to die, because our bodies will be resurrected again. I am living for the future. Every action has a consequence in my life. Every good deed will benefit others not just until they die. And every bad deed will make it harder for me to achieve lasting happiness. We will all be judged at the end by our actions and intentions. and then we will be sorted accordingly, the good with the good and the bad with the bad. and then life will continue. Every piece of knowledge I gain now I know will benefit me forever. If life after death didn't exist, I have no vested interest in gaining knowledge. Besides, the teachings of Christ are desirable for any thriving civilization. Regardless of whether you believe in God, the lessons that Jesus taught can only do good for society.

@@TGarmon84 yeah because it’s all fake. Tell me why we have countless religions. Only the Old Testament is right? What about everyone else religion? Science is a universal tool that all religions/people can use to find answers. Bibles have no answers because the people who made the Bible are people like you and me. It’s believed that multiple people built the Old Testament/Bible because of the different times while making the Bible with different writers. It all goes back on you can’t believe something that you know is true. The whole Adam and Eve sin stuff now that’s dumb. Your all powerful god decided that one of the two people he created messed up so now creatures eat each other wack. They eat each other because they are hungry. Why can we drink alcohol? Because back in the day we would eat the fruit that fell from trees that sat for a long time. How do you make wine. Just sayin religious is all belief wars get started constantly because of it. Nothing good comes from religion. All it is is a way to try and live a life. Walk a path and try to be like Jesus but it’s just live the best life you can and be the best person you can be. Which the only people that follows those views are the followers. I’m not saying that living that way is bad but I can write a motivational book and you follow they ways I write and the path you’ll live a good life same to you you write the book. There is nothing that has come from religions that are proof in what they say. Energy and life from the universe is possible we see it every day. A soul is your energy your essence. All it is is life force and energy. You see these things all around. We all come from the universe we are made up of cells 13+ billion years old. We are made from things that before the beginning of this universe. We are all earthlings are body’s are built in a way to live on this planet coming from microbes on asteroids or different planets. We didn’t come from some crazy being that decided oh you lived a bad life now you live all eternity in hell. Like let’s say you live to be 100 years old. 100 out of a million is so small that it doesn’t even make a dent. So average human life span is 30-70 years and within that time you believe that the wrongs you’ve made in this such small amount of time should last you an eternity of pain. I’ve never seen Jesus pull up and save us from ours sins you see what’s going on in todays time. The amount of times a savior was needed and did not show. The amount of time people prayed for help and was not heard. Your god is all and mighty and made the earth in 6-7 days and decided to nothing after that? What he move away decided he failed off rip so start up new somewhere else. To me it sounds like your gods a quitter who doesn’t care for his people. People born with disabilities what that just a bad joke from god that that person had to live with that for the rest of their life cuz they live bad in the past or sum. We are all the same we are all alive. Religion separates brings no one together. Only people in that group/religion become closer not the outside. But when let go of all the insanity and realize we are atoms and molecules living together simultaneously is great. You have a whole ecosystem in your body living and thriving. You are your own planet. You give life to more life. If anyone was god it would be everything alive and dead. If everything is formed from the same thing that can only mean we are one we are the universe time is relative to you and your own gravitational pull. All god would be is a loop. Like going out far enough and coming back to the place you start. Life making life countless of other universes outside of the one. If you only believe in one universe because that’s all you can see even though we know it’s expanding and becoming bigger and stretching from a center point means there’s a start. If we started why couldn’t another start. In the whole scale of things in this universe that’s tragically sad we believe in a fairy tale over actual evidence and hypothesis. A book made sooo long ago we might never know the actual authors. I can make a book too shoot in todays time you could have an AI make a Bible then go around speaking this is the truth and once you have followers you have a religion. You can believe the things that are true and revolve around proof or follow an idea someone wrote down that can never be proven until Jesus or god or anyone comes down and shows us proof. If you have to base your whole thing on faith and belief with no evidence supporting your claim is outrageous. Fun fact look at where the Bible is made and you find out they take ideas from the country above and below and put them together. He say she say stuff that’s all I hear. Only people that follow the Bible are people who need a higher power to believe in. It’s like king and queen and civilians are less even though they are the exact same as you and me and want to keep the power. Sorry but religion is a scam. It only works if you believe same as Santa. It’s all fairy tail Mumbo jumbo like anyone can make it up. We see it all the time and people getting used example don’t drink the kool aid. These people cult leader killed his own people. Cult religion is the same thing it’s all belief as a group.

I'm still waiting for Bill nye to make any point. Bill believes aliens created people and DNA, but Ken believes that a creature outside our demention and our science, created people and DNA. I have read Walt Browns book. He actually shows the science, behind the hydroplate theory that is far more scientific that anything Bill nye says. My father was an environmental science and a chemist. He explained to me that man made climate change isn't based on science, but on grant renewal syndrome. That means scientists find what they are payed to find, because if they don't they don't get the next grant. There is the bases for climate change and evolution. Science is repeatable and observable. We have observed many things that disprove evolution and climate change. I have watched Bill Nye the engineer/actor for decades. He is an idiot. When you refuse to look at all sides of an issue, then you become brain washed We know historically that macro evolution was never based on science, but on racism and eugenics. We know that Darwins book,"On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life", was a best seller, because it justified racism and slavery, not because it was scientific. Heckle was called out for faking drawings. They proved in that neanderthals were fully human, they have found blood vessels that are still soft on dinosaurs bones and the dating methods that are based on circular reasoning and theory sometimes will date the same animal millions of years apart. Not to mention all the faked fossils and incomplete fossils and fossils that are several different creatures slapped together to make a whole other creature.

However you choose to look at it, the only reason evolution is panned by the religious because they are willfully uninformed and narrow minded. If there is a perfect plan as dictated by God then the evolution and growth of that universe would in fact include an ever evolving state of life. This is simply because all things need different tools in different times. We invented can openers after the can because we needed cans to open to need an opener. A bird developing a longer beak to catch bugs makes perfect sense because we ourselves evolve technology every day to improve our lives. To say man is capable of evolving technology but God can't evolve a bird is nothing short of absolute blasphemy and the church should treat people who act that way as apostates because that's exactly what they are. @@prayerjoseph9776 Scientists are not making assumptions. The layers in ice cores are the result of seasonal differences affecting snowfall and how it packs into ice. These differences in the snow/ice are actually visible to your eye. Essentially, you can see when it was summer(or winter) in the ice. Summers are always 1 year apart so this gives you a very simple method of counting years in ice(This works up until a certain point) Alternatively, you can measure how much of a particular radioactive isotope is left in ice at a particular point. Since radioactive isotopes decay at a fixed rate, you can use math to figure out when these radioactive particles were deposited into the ice by fresh snow. There are many other methods too and they can all be corroborated by the presence of specific features in the ice. Black ash layers in an ice core from known volcanic eruptions, or the presence of Tritium from nuclear weapons testing, among several other things, are markers with known dates that allow scientists to check the accuracy and effectiveness of their dating methods. @Job Maryland ok so basically u DON’T get it then .. I’m not an atheist, but I can understand at least that atheism doesn’t mean “depressing and abysmal”, just because YOU personally may feel that a world without God is depressing, it doesn’t mean that’s what everyone else feels. Just as God brings you comfort, a lack of God may bring others comfort. What a lot of atheists believe is that they should leave the world a better place than they found it, not for themselves or to reward themselves, but for future generations. They don’t believe the whole point of life is evolution. Everyone has a different interpretation of what they think the meaning of life is, whether it’s to find your own meaning, find someone else to love, have children, etc., don’t put a single definition on such a large amount of people. Like I said I am not atheist but it’d really be in people’s best interests to try to understand each other instead of projecting their own feelings. Everyone seeks comfort for the chaos of life and everyone wants to understand why they are here and what their purpose is. The answer lies in different things for everyone whether that is religion or science or nothing at all.

He simply challenged the exhibits themselves, and when Ham provided the basis for the false claims, Nye solely proved them wrong. Yet all Ham knew to do was to question Nye’s belief-meanwhile, Nye wasn’t stating his beliefs, he was stating evidence that scientists continue to prove (and improve) every day. Nye didn’t attend the exhibit to attack anyone’s spiritual belief. He came in to question the validity of the claims throughout the exhibit, and kindly explained why the claims are invalid. Ham also tried time and time again to make Nye lose his cool by antagonizing him-and lost time and time again. To the people saying bill avoided answering questions and didn’t support his statements with evidence you need to understand that what he is talking about is much more complex and hard to comprehend than he can explain in a situation like this. He tried to explain how they date one layer of ice but it’s complex and to fully explain it he would need much more time with less distractions and there’s other aspects of science you would need to understand to be able to fully understand why they claim that a layer is equal to a year. On top of that it’s important to remember that in science we cannot prove anything to be 100% true we can only prove things to be false. For example you cannot say with 100% certainty that all swans are white because being able to find and observe all swans on the planet is nearly impossible. Even if you think you’ve seen all swans on the planet there is always a possibility you missed one. A true scientist understands this and therefore things we know as facts are only proven by proving other things wrong. However, because we can only ever prove things are false and not that things are 100% true all of the time, scientists cannot say “this is definitely true across all situations all the time” and still be a good scientist. This is why Bill doesn’t make strong assertions about evidence. 1. Because most of the evidence requires time and other understandings of science than he was able to provide at the time and 2. The principal of falsification.

Ken seems strongly guided by the notion that, without a supernatural afterlife, there is no point in living. What a horrifying thought to believe that if millions of Christians lost their faith they would see their existence as worthless. It’s like he wants to scare people into maintaining their faith…. Oooh, I get it now.
@wowitsfrostygames155 Жыл бұрын
Bit of a flawed argument tbh. From both sides of the pond. I AM a Christian, but for the sake of argument if I’m wrong there’s no consequence to it. I won’t have a conscience to contemplate that fact anyways. Even if this IS all there is to life I don’t understand why that should be scary. So I’m this instance I agree. I also find the idea of no afterlife to be a laughable idea that has less evidence to it than there actually being an afterlife. If the testimonies of people being brought back from death aren’t enough of a reason to at least consider the option then idk what is. But I think a vast majority of people are pretty open to the idea of there being an afterlife so this seems like a moot point on my end anyways. Christianity doesent need to scare people into the faith lol. And if that’s indeed what Ken was trying to do it’s definitely the wrong way to go about it. There are plenty of reasons to convince someone to at least be open to Christianity and it doesent actually require the Bible to do so. I’m sure Ken is an intelligent brother but there are definitely wrong ways to go about convincing people.

@@wowitsfrostygames155 if there truly was an afterlife, surely Lazarus would have gone there. Now Lazarus was dead for a decent bit, I can’t remember how long or if the Bible even says. But he had already been wrapped and placed in a burial tomb by the time Jesus came to resurrect him. If there truly was an afterlife, would that not be something Lazarus would be telling everyone about as soon as he was resurrected? Would that not be something you’d write down in the Bible to talk about? And it’s interesting to look at the Jewish beliefs especially at the time, which posited that there was no afterlife. But where an afterlife is such a big staple of Christianity and supposedly Jesus teachings, shouldn’t that be a huge part of the story of Lazarus? Why are peoples stories today of what they saw after dying and being resuscitated taken as better claims than of what is recorded in the Bible?
@wowitsfrostygames155 Жыл бұрын
@@markvickery5894 the answer to all of those is not necessarily. Fact is we don’t know what those who were revived saw. Their death could have been nothing more than a sleep prior to Jesus reviving them. Or maybe they DID go to an afterlife but, similar to a dream, didn’t remember. Or perhaps they DID speak on the things they saw eventually to those around them. But it’s not important. You have to understand what the gospels are: eye witness testimony. You can’t give eye witness testimony on something you didn’t see or hear. And even amongst the writers of the gospels they didn’t write down every single possible thing. Each gospel writer focused on different aspects of Jesus’s ministry. One focused on him being Lord, one focused on him being a servant, one focused on his divinity, etc. each gospel writer wanted their gospel to capture specific parts of Jesus. And ultimately the gospels, and the Bible really, is about Jesus. Also, the Jewish belief of no afterlife was not something all Jews believed, it was a specific denomination of Jew. Similar to how there are different denominations of Christian. The sadducees I believe were the Jews that held this belief. And if you read the Bible you’ll see Jesus debate them on this. They ask Jesus a question on marriage and the afterlife. In the debate, like any good debater should do, the sadducees were trying to get Jesus in a corner. They asked him ‘if a woman marries, and her husband dies, and she remarried, and this repeats up to six times, in the afterlife, who’s she married to? If she is married to all of them, she commits adultery by way of polygamy. If she is married to the first one, she committed adultery against him with the other six.’ Their line of reasoning was, there can’t be an afterlife because if there was this problem of marriage would go against Gods divine law. It was a trick question because how can the afterlife be a place where Gods law is broken? No matter how you slice it, this woman would be committing adultery one way or another. Jesus responds by saying ‘there will be no marriage in heaven.’ And then asks them a counter questions. ‘Have you not read what was spoken to you by God? “I AM the God of Moses, Isaac, and Jacob.” He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” Moses, Isaac, and Jacob have been “dead” for many many years by this point, but Jesus’s point was how can God be the god of these people if their conscience stops existing after death? (Which was the view of the sadducees). He’s calling them out on their lack of understanding the scripture. So yes the afterlife was very much a part of Jesus’s teachings, but it was not a focus of his ministry. His ministry was spreading the word to Jews and gentiles that the kingdom of God was at hand, and that they needed to be saved not from the Roman oppressors, but from sin itself, and that they must repent. There were a lot of things the ancient Jews believed that were wrong.
@zulunet3285 Жыл бұрын
@@wowitsfrostygames155its quite ironic how you state that evidence of no afterlife is less than evidence of a afterlife, which makes it "laughable" YET you believe in a scripture that have no evidence whatsoever to back up any of its claims😂 The scientifical errors in Genesis is just enough to prove the whole Bible to be a complete fraud. Adam & Eve... Noahs Ark... The sun being made after Earth.... Life came from land.... The earth and the Universe was made in the same time?? All of these are inaccurate to actual scientific findings and studied theories with alot of evidence backed up to it, all you have is a book thats heavily edited with unknown original authors from a era where people believed everything.
