All kinds of (non-creationist) studies have since about 2013 concluded that a more realistic percentage is anywhere from 40 to 80 in similarity. At that point, one could argue common design.

Second of all, I haven’t made any claims as to the methodology of cat DNA comparing. I haven’t a clue about cat DNA as I’ve never researched it. It’s clearly obvious to me that the chimp and human comparison was made through deceitful eyes in favor of providing evidence for evolution more than documenting facts of biology. Google the peer reviewed paper by Jeffrey P Tompkins in regards to his attempt of refutation against Answers In Genesis where therein he comes to the same conclusion that the similar DNA is between 60%-84%. That’s a good start. Or better yet, compare the graphed results yourself between PanTro4/PanTro5 and GRCh37.31 (the actual specimens used in the Human Genome Project). You can find graphs that actually account for the vast unalign-able regions of the two specimens.

@@GioGuitarDude the Human Genome Project was led by Francis Collins, a Christian creationist. 'As someone who's had the privilege of leading the human genome project, I've had the opportunity to study our own DNA instruction book at a level of detail that was never really possible before. It's also now been possible to compare our DNA with that of many other species. The evidence supporting the idea that all living things are descended from a common ancestor is truly overwhelming. *I would not necessarily wish that to be so, as a Bible-believing Christian. But it is so. It does not serve faith well to try to deny that* -- Francis Collins If you wish to learn about any science related topic, you certainly cannot trust AIG. They have a statement of faith on their website. A person cannot conduct science while adhering to some sort of statement of faith. ..Interesting that 'apologetics' is a religion thing; it does not exist in science. Science has no need for 'apologetics'. I would be embarrassed, and would feel a bit foolish, to be involved in any sort of organization, or to adhere to any sort of belief system, that would require me to utilize 'apologetics'.
@GioGuitarDude Жыл бұрын
@@travisbicklepopsicle I don’t use AIG articles to argue creation. And I’m not sure if testimonies from Francis are supposed to be convincing, but they’re not. I’d hate to pull a “Kent Hovind”, but let’s take a Toyota 4Runner and a Tacoma for example. They are completely different vehicles made for different things, but they share 90%+ of the same wires, sensors, drivetrain and suspension components etc… what does that prove? It proves that the same engineers designed them. You’d have to have an incredible imagination to come to any other conclusion. Francis dove into into the HGP with a background that was heavily invested in biological evolution, and that’s abundantly clear. Diving into the meat and potatoes of the results make it abundantly clear that results were omitted in favor of providing evidence for evolution. Even from a behavioral and morphological standpoint, one cannot honestly believe that we are more related to chimps than tigers are related to house cats. The differences are too obvious.

If geologic eons were involved, the sedimentation should not be so sweetly layered as it is, but rather a fairly even mix of soil types without the obvious layers. The folds explained by a sedimentary layer, already forming as a mud layer, being moved by a strong surge of water in the opposing direction, before being compressed by the layers above. Good points. Micro evolution or specialization happens. Macro evolution or completely new and different type of animal, like amphibian to reptile has never been observed. Scientific method starts with observation, coming up with an idea (hypothesis), then testing. One part of the method that I've never heard recently is the necessity of proposing & testing counter examples which would invalidate the hypothesis.
@Woopor10 ай бұрын
Macro evolution hasn’t been observed because it’s not real, it’s a term that creationists use to justify genetic diversity after the flood without actually having to fully understand and believe those very same scientific principles that explain both “types” of evolution

And as for counter examples and alternate explanation: there’s literally dozens of conflicting theories that are talked about to this day. A Hindu by birth, a Christian by conviction, I fully KNOW that there is a Creator who has spoken many things to man only through the BIBLE. hough I have been greatly impressed with several points made in this video, I have qualms about accepting the data presented for the existence of a BRIEF ice age AFTER THE FLOOD. The chief reason for dismissing this proposal are these verses from Scripture: Genesis 8: 21...And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. 22, While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Were it presented to be DURING the flood, I would be minded to accept such a school of thought. It is said that the waters prevailed upon the earth for 5 months, and ice age conditions could have occurred during that period to provide an explanation for the sudden frozen deaths of mammals. The pairs of wooly mammoths that have [could have] emerged from the ark could have become extinct just as many species are becoming extinct to this day.

What is the explanation for how the mammoths could freeze quickly enough all the way through without partially decomposing in the meantime? I've heard that due to their size and the rate of time it takes for water to freeze, the mammoth would be decomposing due to their massive size and initial body heat before the entire freezing-through process would be able to complete. Has something to do with the Younger Dryas period when the ice started melting...
@cori1302 Жыл бұрын
@@uolocur9356 I think there is evidence of a a series of floods occuring around the same time. The region where Noah's flood occured had a basin-like area extending 500+ miles. Which was their world. So the ark came to rest in the mountains of Ararat, not On Mt. Ararat in the same range. And the 'fountains of the deep were broken up' which indicates an under water volcano/seismic activity. Steam vents spewing high into the air could cause rain for extended periods. And most cultures have a flood story where they built rafts and saved a remnant of animals and humans. I think in the epic of Gilgamesh, huge round boats, and there was a documentary guy who has a team of experts reconstruct one of these, as they are basically huge round baskets covered with tar, and in use for a long time. It worked. They used these to transport goods and animals up and down the river to begin with. I think a lot of life was wiped out after the Younger Dryas, and there were events before/after causing these changes. But some remnants everywhere had survived. If people started being able to make a distinction between something that is Generally true, and stopped trying to turn it into a discrete, measurable Fact, observed only from a Modern viewpoint, we can actually reconnect to having a sense of Continuity. Sometimes cultures use numbers to convey ideas.... So if a modern person told a story saying -'They were driving like, a hundred miles an hour to get to a family reunion in another state, but realized the GPS was wrong, so they did a 180, and found a shortcut, and got there in No Time. Everybody was going to be there. People hung out and talked until the cows came home... ***A future society reading this, using current 'bean counter' mentality would find several reasons why this story could not be true... #Cannot drive a hundred mph for any length of time, speed limit was 55mph plus stoplights... #Can't have Everyone at a family reunion, as forebears have already passed... #Everyone being there would indicate that the townspeople were also related. Records show they were not.... #GPS in the future is never wrong. How can there be an error of this magnitude... #The person only made a right turn, and backtracked - according to convenience store receipts. There were no witnesses seeing a car turn 180 degrees... #The author of this tale states that they got there in No Time. The space time continuum would not allow for this, and time travel portals are only for limited use, at our present (future) date. #Hanging out is an obscure reference. Unclear of meaning and social context. Sounds uncomfortable and dangerous, especially when furniture was widely available... Perhaps refers to wet clothing? #Until the cows came home...Records show that there haven't been cattle in that area since the late 1800s. When there was, they lived in herds, not houses. **No way that story could be True, as interpreted by future readers, using this way of thinking, and interpreting Facts. Yet it could be a true tale of someone's experience in those times... Nothing Happened. Nothing Exists Yet - here we are...

Hang on... at 22:00 you said you know tortoises and turtles are separate created kinds because they can't reproduce together. But didn't you JUST get done saying that two bears on the ark produced species of bears that, today, due to "genetic depletion," are unable to reproduce together? So by the same logic with which you classed turtles and tortoises as separate kinds, you could equally well class those reproductively isolated species of bears as separate kinds. So why don't you? Seems kind of arbitrary, like it might be an ad hoc response to some presupposition. If the descendants of any created kind could spontaneously lose the ability to reproduce with each other due to "genetic depletion," then how do we know what any created kinds are? Surely we could just as easily say that all the reproductive isolation we observe today is the result of "genetic depletion" - which, we should note, is not very different from the mainstream account of common descent, except they don't use the term "genetic depletion," rather referring to a point where a wide variety of kinds of changes get intense enough that offspring either do not survive gestation, sperm cannot fertilize egg, or genitals are just morphologically incompatible. This isn't meant in a hostile way. Believe me, I'd love to believe your account is true, but there seems to be a logical hole in it, and that's before even getting to the timeline issues, e.g. how, in just ~5000 years (or however long it's been since the Noahide flood), humans could accumulate enough morphological differences to create separate racial/ethnic groups, and could settle every continent but Antarctica. Also this idea that new genes can't be created, but can only be rearranged or deleted, is false. Many mutations are _duplications_ of segments of DNA. Anyway, it seems to me that when a gene has been duplicated, and then a part of that gene has been altered by a subsequent mutation, you essentially have a new gene. And you have "new information" if you're looking at just the genome as a closed system. But of course, it's not a closed system. That mutation was caused by something. It was a copying error that had a physical cause, like vibrations of atoms in the proteins that perform said copying, or a chemical teratogen, or a stray ultraviolet ray. These physical causes carry information, and they impart that information to the DNA by the same mechanism by which they cause the copying error. That's essentially what "information" means in the physics context. Information can change forms, but it's conserved. At least, this is what I assume you mean when you say "new information" is never created. It's true that the total amount of information in the universe (there's a standard unit for that) is thought to be conserved, never rising or falling, in the same way energy and momentum are conserved. But any individual thing within the universe can certainly gain information, just like it can gain energy or gain momentum. These conservations conserve closed systems, i.e. groupings of elements in which there's a static amount of energy, momentum, or information. Five atoms, somehow separated from the rest of the universe, could certainly share energy with each other, e.g. by banging into each other. It's only the total amount of energy in that closed system that is static. Mutations don't happen in a closed system, they happen in the solar system, where all kinds of crazy stuff is happening. So new genetic information can certainly be created. Whether a new _gene_ can be created is a separate question, and maybe it depends on how you define "gene." If we're talking about a sequence of DNA, then of course new genes are created, by a wide variety of scenarios. I know you might object to a single deletion creating a new "gene," since we usually call that a polymorphism or allele, a variant of an existing sequence. But if we start from any arbitrary organism, from _whatever_ sequences of DNA it has, we can surely get new sequences as a result of 1) duplication followed by deletion or inversion, such that the original gene is retained and the duplicate is modified, 2) insertion, or 3) translocation. Most of the time those new sequences will not be functional, but that wasn't the claim you made. You said it's impossible for new genes to come into existence, so that basal species must contain all the DNA sequences of _all_ their descendant, derived species. Of course, this latter claim is unfalsifiable, since if any basal species we find fails to contain all its descendants' genes, you can just say that must not be the original one brought on the ark. But I think the first claim is just flatly wrong, since given enough time, mutation must _eventually_ create a new sequence that's functional. I think the statistical plausibility of mutations explaining all biodiversity is an excellent area for scientific inquiry, but it's a very different question from the physical possibility of a new gene being created. To say it's impossible, in principle, for a new gene to be created just seems on its face ridiculous. Yes, any gene produced by a mutation must necessarily be derived from an existing gene. But that's still a new gene. If what you're getting at is that you need an existing gene to start with, then yes, that's right. You need at least 1 gene to exist in order for mutation to produce a second. Actually it's much worse than even that, since you need many genes to produce even the most basic organism capable of performing this replication in the first place. Lots of hardware involved in DNA replication, means lots of genes dedicated just to that capability. Not to mention the ability to acquire food, remain chemically connected to but protected from the environment, etc. How all this could have come into existence from non-life (abiogenesis) is an excellent question: the irreducible complexity of the most basic organism. But again, that's a separate question from whether new genes are created, e.g. whether new genes were created when all the various bear species evolved from their common ancestor. You don't need to believe in natural abiogenesis to accept common descent and evolution by natural selection. You could be a theistic evolutionist, i.e. someone who believes that only the first organism (and perhaps Adam & Eve) was a special creation, and potentially also believes that God gives natural selection a little nudge in the right direction. In any case, however exactly it might have happened, you can get millions of different genes from just 1 gene. Imagine gene 1 is first duplicated. Again, duplication is a very common error. In humans, entire chromosomes are routinely duplicated - see Down syndrome for example. Now you have 2 copies of gene 1: 1a and 1b. Now imagine in a later generation, while copying gene 1b, a base pair is duplicated. This means gene 1b is gene 2, it's not the same sequence anymore. But it's just an extra base pair. At some later point, the wrong nucleotide is added - another possible error. Now you have quite a different sequence. If you repeat variations of the above steps enough times, the number of potential sequences you can get is unfathomably large, and the size of the genome will obviously grow. And some of those sequences (though certainly a very, very small fraction of them) will code for properly folding proteins, and some of those (an even smaller fraction) will code for useful proteins that actually do something that helps create a functional organism. The odds are astronomical, but now we're talking about odds, not possibility. So, again, the question isn't whether new sequences can be created, it's whether all the diversity that we see today - or even the amount of diversity we see in, say, the mammals - could have been generated solely by mutation and natural selection in the time available.
