Fun fact: If Australian claim is to be recognized, it would make Australia 2nd largest nation in the world and least densely populated one, with a population density of only 1 person per sq/km

You're dumb look up the definition of colonisation (the action or process of settling among and establishing control over the indigenous people of an area). How can we be doing colonisation if we are not settling among people or establishing control over native people if there is none blood Americans I tell ya. Wanna know something funny who is the one who will be trying to claim merry bird land ummm let me think AMERICA talking about those guys you know who did colonisation usa 😂 The American overthrow of the kingdom of Hawaii,American samoa,Marshall islands (looks up nuclear testing in bikin atolls and the US nuclear testing on radiation on human body),Puerto Rico,Liberia,guam,Philippines,northern Mariana islands,palua,federated states of micronesia.

in the Antarctic treaty signed in the 1950s by The USA, The Soviet Union, France , UK , Japan , Australia, Norway the continent of Antarctica was divided among the 5 countries . Australia has the lion share of the treaty with 40% of Antarctica territory (6 mln km2) . It is stated in the agreement that no one can dispute the claim and can have new claims in Antarctica after the treaty. Australia with Antractic territory is 13.5 second largest country in the world surpassing Canada (9.9 mln km2) and The USA (9.8 mln km2).

TTK has done it again - so good! Just a perspective but if we consider one of your questions at the end, the one about rights of possession specifically, the powers that be over the centuries have never really given a damn about who says what or why, when something becomes considered as a resource and therefore an issue of concern. In most cases all that matters is land, money and greed. Subsequently, if that sort of thing, which is a future possibility regarding Antarctica, leads to war to increase ones position and strength, then so be it. It matters not whether the land is unpopulated or populated or what serves the best interests of the planet. Ask any indigenous population. I'm sure the Australian aborigine, the native American Indians or the multitudes of tribes of Africa would speak in unison on the matter. Another example more in line with your exposé, might be the recent desire of America to return to the moon to build and set up on the natural satellite. Would they then claim that as their territory? Would China, Russia or other countries that are space flight capable also want a piece of the moon? One can only hope that common sense wins out regarding Antarctica. With seventy percent of fresh water sitting there in solid form when entire regions and countries are drying up, Antarctica is one of earth's greatest natural resources while being one that should be left alone. Unfortunately in its case, man has not needed to touch it or do anything to it, to have already become a risk to its future. Climate change has already begun its severe bleeding, which man can accept the majority of the blame for. So many possible outcomes based on humanities forward movement through history and while ALL governments pretend to care about all issues regarding the global population, if push comes to shove, they soon avert their moral gaze in favour of status, local economics and the high end of town. Perhaps I've chosen a bleak and negative perspective but with little faith in modern day politics, my doubts about the future of the southern treasure are larger than my hopes for it to flourish as it has for so long. Thank you for another great turn of my mind.
@Windbend3r
@Windbend3r 2 жыл бұрын
Your talking about common sense yet you think the United States put humans on the moon….. Please do some research on the subject because we 100% didn’t go to the moon. We can’t get humans past earths orbit you can google that ROFLMA. There is legitimately more evidence supporting that we didn’t go than that we did.

I guess it's lucky for Antarctica that it's so far away from everywhere else and so damn cold. Can you imagine how much it could have been ruined if it had natural resources that were easy to get to and procure?😬 Australia and New Zealand would sure have trouble trying to hold onto their "bits"! This video is lazy, straight out of English written Wikipedia. I had personally never heard Chile and Argentinas claims on Antarctica were mainly based on 400 year old Spanish documents on undiscovered territories. Thought I would hear about the first permanent and still functioning settlement in 1904, about Argentine sealers who were spotted heading straight south to antarctic islands as soon as 1819, about the first people born in the continent, maybe even territorial continuity. But hey who cares about two south american countries right?

@Uninvolved Third You can. My friend solo’d 730 miles from Hercules inlet to the South Pole last summer season (Satcase/Challenge Antarctica). This was part of his phase 1 testing of his new Satcase product. Later this year he will attempt a phase 2 solo from the Ronne to Ross Ice shelf, across the continent. If you are competent and can afford it, you can do it - also use sponsors and raise money for charity. Many people do stuff like this every season. Geoff Wilson did a massive solo around Dome Argus in East Antarctica this season, and 4 ladies did individual solos to the South Pole.

@pauldalimore sincerely doubt that you have the physical training necessary to do real exploring. You're just another paranoid flat earther.
