Fun facts about the anime: - The bird (Tokkori) in the original is voiced by the same person that voices Young Link from the N64 onwards (even in Smash Ultimate!) - SO many characters/enemies that were in the games shows up in the anime at some point! Chef Kawasaki, Knuckle Joe, Rick/Kine/Coo, Whispy Woods, Kracko, even Scarfys, Mumbies, and Phan Phan. And of course, the Halberd shows up in the last few episodes. - There are like, 10+ episodes that are just straight-up parodies of pop culture. From Jurassic Park to Harry Potter to Gone With The Wind to a modern art museum (complete with actual real-life art) to... Goodbye Mr. Chips, for some reason. There are so many references. - The original has Kirby music! Some is direct from the games - Green Greens from Smash Bros. Melee plays during one heroic sequence. A few tracks from the anime were also directly featured in Kirby Air Ride (or maybe they were in the game first, can't seem to find out). Yes, the Kirby dance also makes an appearance. I don't even want to know how the dub handled that without the actual music track. - Some of the 'new' transformations Kirby gets near the end, including Water Kirby, are contest winner submissions! Kids in Japan actually submitted ideas for transformations and a few of them made the cut in the anime. And Water Kirby is one that actually became canon in the games afterwards. - The series actually uses a lot less 2D-3D mix as the episodes go on. Kirby is usually 3D but characters like Dedede are less frequently 3D near the end of the series.

@@swagkirby3449 the music was re-used in a lot more than just that and air ride. every major kirby release has featured something from the animes score. whether whole-hog ripping it off, or providing a remix of one of the tracks from the anime (an example being super star ultras blooper reel. which then was remixed when fighting chef kawasaki in a sub-game in return to dreamland) some of the animes score was even used in smash bros (checkered knights was wholehog ripped from air ride... which was wholehog ripped from the anime.) my point is even today the animes japanese score is so good, that it has been recycled and remixed in countless games since.

I’m a Japanese Kirby fan and I watched this anime in Japanese. One thing most western reviewers overlook is that this anime includes lots of edgy, mature political and sexual satire most kids would never be able to understand and was pretty much lost in translation when brought to the west (probably intentionally). In japan this anime is no longer available for rebroadcasting because it’s consider too politically inappropriate for kids. I watched back again recently and was baffled by how edgy the jokes are. Most of the satires come from conversation between king ddd, escargoon, and the NME Salesman. Overall the show holds an incredibly progressive views on Japanese standards back in the 2000s. This show is often compared with South Park and Animaniacs! The show is more like an educational black comedy for grownups then an anime for children and has cult following. I’m officially part of them though... For example in episode 83, the cartoon satires the brutality of Japanese education system and it’s treatment of teachers as well as children with learning disability. Heck 15 years ago, the term learning disability didn’t even existed in japan. In episode 5 (or 6 I forgot), the show mocks fake news, history revisionists and the Japanese tv industry when King ddd creates fake news and shouts “History is made at the tv studio!” while he confronted Kirby and his friends who debunked thair lies. In episode 49, the cartoon satires the epidemic of pedophilia within the Japanese entertainment industry when king ddd hires three otaku to create a new anime for him which instead they created an anime starring sexualized version of tiff. Im almost certain that Sakurai was behind most of these edgy satires (heck he even satires our prime minister and the US president G. Bush) because the nature of the darkness his jokes possesses are similar to the anime. Also Sakurai wanted the show to be entertaining for grownups as well so it’s natural for him to do it. “Animators are granted basic human rights too” -Chief “Human Rights!? Shut up! Our country to the last is under dictatorship!! WE ARE THE AXIS OF THE EVILS!!!!!” -King DDD Most westerners think this show is too childish because the real mature part of this show was cut off during translation.

Kirby wasn't often the focus despite being the main character, but the show insisted that Kirby was going to be a silent protagonist so it would have impossible to make him the focus all the time unless you did the show in a format where nobody talked. That can work in the form of cartoon shorts but I don't see that as a viable way for a length cartoon. Also on the note of Kirby being dumb, there is another episode where Dedede uses television to hypnotize everyone into attacking Kirby, including Kirby. Edit: Wow! Thanks for all the upvotes!
