I misread title and thought i was getting an in-depth of all javelin abilities. Instead i was disappointed to realize it was just for the boring ranger. I decided to watch anyways to see if i missed any abilities while playing the demo. Im @3:11 and now i want to main ranger. This was a great video. Cant wait for to play this game. I will be in the ranger class. I was playing the VIP demo all wrong. Not that i sucked at it but the way i approached killing enemies. I played it on normal and thought man these guys are tough! Not realizing that the weapons had primers and detonators, i could have taken out enemies alot faster if i would have used the combo system, especially on those heavily armored shielded guys and gun batteries. Now after the demos were over i did research and bumped into this great video on how to use your javelin. now i have to wait until launch to test out the info in this video. Thanks though for your time in sharing this video.

Just a few things of note...muster point can stack...so a group of rangers can buff up a sniper for a boss. The ultimate hits weak points...so if used at the right time can change the damage aka Titans when the back or chest is open....also you can keep the buff from muster point with out being stuck at the point.

Excellent video! I love the aesthtics of the Ranger and it's emphasis on shooting but I'm afraid that might work against it, too. Guns were fun to use in the demo but felt a bit weak. I hope that's adjusted in the final build of the game. I don't see much use for abilities that are neither primer nor detonator, at least not on the Ranger or Colossus, the only two I've played so far. The combo damage and Ultimate refill seem too good to pass up for a little extra ability damage. I think the best general purpose and solo play build will be Frost Grenade + Seeker Missile, with Venom Darts + Sticky Grenade being a more specialized choice for team play.

One note on the pulse blast is that unlike the seeking missile you can precision aim to hit weak points. I think that was the intention of the design, you can frost grenade one of the big guys or turrets and hit the fuel tank with pulse blast essentially critting the combo and with the rangers innate combo skill do massive damage which in turn out does seeking missile.

I listened to the way you find better combinations for the abilities and weapons- wouldn't it be really awesome if you could customize the weapons and abilities as you saw fit? That is one of the things that I look forward to the most in this game; the customization but what if you had more freedom to customize how your abilities and weapons work.. That would be really cool right? I bet you could think of some crazy combos.

Some more notes. The frost grenada 0 damage but high frost application so it can't damage shields. Also the plus blast can hit weak points for crit damage

From what I've heard, Pulse Blast gives a huge amount of damage when hitting weak points. The charge up lets you aim it.

Thank you! When i was covering the skills i mentioned what skills i paired it with. Which is technically a build. So there are 5 builds in total in this video that I used. MY favorite I'm pretty sure I mentioned was Sticky Grenade + Venom Darts. I also really like Frost Grenade + Seeking Missile.

Three things: 1. You have tons of great information, and made all of your points clear. 2. You should consider dividing videos this long into different sections with titles and transitions. For example (into - > first set of abilities - > second set of abilities - > summary & personal thoughts) 3. Last thing, your graphics could benefit from larger font size or perhaps covering each set of abilities in their own groups so you can use several smaller graphics rather than 1 large graphic. This would make it much nicer to look at. I think this series could be awesome (possibly in combination with your own play through with friends). Just wanted to offer a few critiques as someone who wants to see you succeed!

I've heard reports of the pulse blast working with crits so the small window it take to charge should be use to aim at the weak spots of the enemy for even more damage

Pulse blast - you can use it to target enemies weak spots. Good for burst damage or increased combo damage. Seeker missile you just fire and forget it.

The spark beam could do extra damage to weak points, that would make sense. I also noticed it tends to track itself towards weak points, so maybe it does both is is being mis-understood. Either way it's a fun ability overall! I did mention the not being able to prime shielded targets in my last video covering the interceptor. Figured i was getting to repetitive. Maybe I will bring it back for the next class since not everyone is watching them in order.

Pulse blast can crit on top of the combo boost, it does do more damage then seeker if you can hit a weak point.

Pulse blast is a good skill because it can Crit, unlike other abilities, therefore when paired with the Rangers passive combo effect of extra target single damage you get alooooooooooooooot of damage.

Most of the stuff introduced R for close range with the Ranger in a battle with multiple enemies, like the shatter grenades. I am almost always in a big goup of enemies & those R helpful & really good at get the tank javelin enemie to turn around, by throwing it behind them. The lazarbeam has 8sec or 8shots pared with a scoped sniper rifle can kill enemies head shots 8time with no ammo & it cuts down the dragons like they R butter. Just me, that is what I do. Solo 🙂♾😎

AT Tatara sticky grenade and seeking middle bro. Find those weak points. Throw out both abilities. Then empty your sniper and then use abilities again and then get ammmo for sniper and repeat pretty standard rotation with sick F’ed damage

@@Hifcrea Sticky Grenade and Seeking Missile are a good option for bosses. But for JUST bosses I would go Stick & Spark Beam. I have been informed that Spark beam does bonus damage to weak points, which I did not mention in this video. Although, while talking about spark beam in the video, you can see me hitting weak point tanks on the riot shield guys, and it does infact melt them rapidly. So I do still think Spark beam has its uses. :D

Depending on play style. I really like the Venom Darts for priming, with Sticky grenade to detonate. This gives you the best Range overall and pairs well with an assault rifle + sniper. For more of an in your face run and gun build. I would go with Frost Grenade to prime, and Seeking missile to detonate. Those would be my 2 go to builds for sure. If your up against a lot of enemies with weak points. Frost + Spark Beam could be good, but you won't have a detonator unfortunately. IF you have a good storm buddy running 2 primers. You could go Sticky Grenades or Frag and then seeking missiles. You would really maximize you damage in a dou like this, as the storms detonators don't really compare to the rangers, considering his combo bonus effect does extra dmg. Also the storm has the most primers in the game, so it makes more sense for him to prime.

3:40 here's a nice trick flying g and using alt wait for a group to spawn fly at them pull ult unleash then keep flying with the rockets and use shock mace to do an aoe prime and use frag grenade EVERTHING goes boom!

Assuming you were on hard mode that clip of you destroying the two turrets with his ultimate was proof that he has way more damage than the storm and colossus ultimates. Those turrets (on hard mode) each take two out of four hits from the storm and colossus ultimates.

I personally dont think the ranger is a gun javelin. Most of his abilities have shoter cool downs so you can use them a ton and take down shields and turrets fast. I use sticky and seeking missile and just prime everything with my melee. Works very well especially on hard. I think you can use guns on lower difficulties but you really need to use combos on hard and above.

great video. One comment: your analysis of the seeker grenade seems flawed to me since every example you showed where you used it, you only had one enemy/turret that you were attacking,.. so of course it didn't "seek" other enemies

I was thinking this while clipping the footage together. "Darn this looks bad". But give it a try for yourself on packs of enemies, it still doesn't seem to be all that great. Considering when you have seen how much damage it does when all 4 land on a single target. Dividing that damage would make it even worse. Frag grenade still does more damage, detonates, and has AOE.

I have a gripe that ill have to double check tomorrow when demo is live again, but as far as i know the frost grenade doesnt do damage. It doesnt have a damage stat listed in its tooltip and it seemed to just freeze. So it doesnt do awesome damage against shielded units as it would be completely useless.

Uhm you definitely miss that fact that the ranger gets bonus damage on single target combos. Also I understand it’s tempting to use your ult on multiple targets but it definitely better for single target especially if they are primed!

2:09 I explained the combo bonus damage multiplier he gets. It doesn't JUST work on single targets. If a storm freezes enemies close together and the ranger frag grenades the pack. Bonus damage is applied to everything hit. Therefor it's just bonus damage to enemies detonated, as explained at 2:09. :)

Have you not seen the video of rangers ultimate one shotting a titan.. no other ultimate in game has.. I'm sorry but just watching the gameplay can tell you didnt test out alot of things sticky grenade when you melee prime something or just prime it then sticky grenade you one shot enforcers with shields yes one shot them!! I think show casting abilities on a enemy no one else is shooting would be good aswell to show people the difference in damage abilities do when combo procs plus rangers crit damage proc they get double damage for combos it's why sticky grenade hits so hard.

I tried alot of things. You gotto remember i'm covering 56 abilities as in-depth as possible all by myself in only the short period of the VIP Demo. Getting the abilities alone across 3 different accounts since the Demo locked us to the ranger and 1 other character took a very long time. Then recording them in as many different situations as possible and editing it was an undertaking too. In terms of builds like priming with melee and one shotting with sticky grenades. Those kind of builds will come on release when we have actual components. That way I can make quick 5-10 minute videos outlining the builds and the best way to use them. This video is to give people a general understanding of the entire character.
