Rogan didn't ruin comedy; he made it average. He taught people that the 'appearance' of comedy through cadence, timing and stage presence are more important than talent, joke writing, self-awareness and honesty. He helped turn stand-up comedy from an art form into a day job.

Joe Rogan didn’t ruin comedy he just made more people aware of other comedians Those comedians became rich and successful, which made them lazy. Success is responsible for the making comedy worse, just look at Tom Segura

I think it's podcasts that ruined them
@mkrcivoj3 күн бұрын
Jeselnik is probably one of the strongest comics of his generation but him and Maron are just jealous that Rogan has more money and influence from his podcast. Many of Joe's listeners didn't even know he was a comic before his recently panned Netflix special. Marc Maron did help legitimize podcasting as a valid form of media and made it financially viable. But Maron seems to be more of a professional actor in TV/movies than a comic these days Those two come off very elitist even though they do make a lot of valid points about the Roganverse. Joe is popular because he's much better at connecting with the male demographic in the "fly by" states and gave academia a social platform. Jeselnik doesn't like to promote, so that's why he's at his current level. He's definitely not a podcaster, even though he has one as an extra cash stream / promotional tool.

I think the podcast in question with the "shitting your pants" might be cumtown, because Adam ruined Nick's graciously provided camping chair as well as his white linen pants. I'd like to believe I'm wrong, and I certainly could be, but his comments were too on-the-nose.
@stephenrose45588 күн бұрын
I think that’s exactly who he is talking about. But CumTown is definitely not who he should have a problem with. Nick, Adam, and Stav have nothing to do with Rogan, all three are at least decent stand ups, they put in time doing open mics and the typical stand up stuff, and they started CT like 8 years ago and built a huge crazy following while being totally obscure and out of the mainstream. It’s honestly pretty remarkable. No one has been able to replicate it
@Ghostxyz38 күн бұрын
@@stephenrose4558 Exactly. The cumboys are funny and hardly ever take anything seriously when they are doing something funny. Their chat, reminiscent of a middle school lunch table, is just comedy. And $100k/mo just from fan donations shows how much us civilians like it. CT was a flickering light in the midst of a dark cave.

Politicians and comedians should not mix. If comedians want to be seen as “truthtellers” or “of the people”, they should not be bedfellows with the most dishonest and powerful people in the world. Left, right, center, it don’t matter, if you’re cool with billionaires and politicians, you’ve lost all credibility and relatability in my book

Jeselnik & maron are the example of what cnn thinks comedy is.. they've forgotten the fact trying to get a laugh is more important than everything. That's comedy by definition. Its saying wtf ever you can that gets a laugh, or doesn't & you try something else that might, & try again, & again.. Anybody that tries to say "comedy can only be this way...." doesn't get it.

I am a big fan of Anthony's. Very different kind of comedy. Very funny. I saw the new special. Was okay at best. Was just about as funny as any Joe Rogan comic. Really not worth even watching and Anthony knows this. That's why he bashing Rogan. It just wasn't a good special and now you need to promote it no matter what. It looks like yet another comedian that made too much money and is not funny anymore. Seems to be the norm now. As soon as a comedian comes out and promotes his special and says this is his greatest work ever and he is very proud of that, we know exactly what to expect. Bones and all, just what we got. Okay comedy. Watch it if you want to giggle once or twice. Maybe
