Dagan, if you see this check out Aesop Rock! He's old head still making incredible rap music. To one of Colin's points, Aesop Rock is an excellent blend of rock music and rap. I've read somewhere that Aesop beats out Shakespeare for highest amount of unique rhymes.

I came here to recommend him too! Totally agree with everything other than it's a blend of rock. Some of his beats definitely sample a rock band he is friends with but it is pretty straight up rap. I really ant to see him live. One of the few artists I haven't been able to see. Have all his stuff on vinyl. What you were referencing with shakespeare is a college did a study to find who is the most lyrical rapper and Aes came out on top due to the use of most unique words. Give in to meditation, Colin. I'm just like you in terms of the mind and it's been a lifesaver. yes, it's hard and your mind will wonder and that's the point. You realize your mind is wondering, clock it and try to regain focus on the breathing. Each time the time in between gets longer. That's the whole point.
@user-dj9iu2et3r6 ай бұрын
Exactly. Meditation isn’t about stopping your mind from thinking, it’s about learning how to FOCUS your mind amidst the anxious thoughts which, for obvious reasons, is an incredibly useful skill to have.

Just to add another layer of context on the Drake-Kendrick beef: For some time now, Drake has been taking shots at a lot of non-hiphop people. After he lost his battle against Pusha-T, Drake turned weird and started going after a bunch of people who don't rap. Nobody except for Kanye (who's now considered a loon) called him out on it. For 5 straight years now, Drake has dissed Rihanna, The Weeknd, Serena Williams (and her husband), Kid Cudi, a lot of journalists who aren't trolls or clickbaiters, Halle Berry, popular models and strippers who used to praise him, the list goes on. So Drake had/has built a reputation of being a fake-nice person. But nobody within hip-hop (with the exception of kooky Kanye) has called him out on it because 99% of rappers are certified pussies. They just aren't as bold as they claim to be. Here comes Kendrick Lamar aka part of the non-cowardly 1%; extremely bold, extremely skilled, extremely popular, and extremely clued in on who Drake has been disrespecting for half a decade now. All Kendrick had to do was talk about how shitty Drake is as a person, and he had to do it in a catchy way because catchiness is what Drake has always been able to do better than almost anybody else. So Kendrick did that (and then some), and the millions of hip-hop **and** non-hip-hop fans are now happily reciting and dancing to Not Like Us. TL;DR: Drake has been disrespecting a lot of popular people. Kendrick pointed that out, and the fans of the popular people are happy that someone finally disrespected him back.

It’s something that gets mistaken A LOT but, from what I’ve learned from actual Buddhist monks like Harvard graduate Dr. K (from the “Healthy Gamer” KZbin channel) meditation isn’t actually about “clearing your mind of all thoughts” at all. More so, it’s about gaining the power to FOCUS your kind amidst all of the mental chaos/noise we experience from day to day. There are very specific types of meditation that Dagan should look into that are very effective for this “focusing” of the mind. I really recommend looking up Dr. K’s KZbin channel and learning from him.

I started at 5 mins a day and worked my way up to 30 mins a day. You won’t feel the benefits unless you do it long term and everyday. Keep at it! The benefits are well documented and researched. 3:57:40 with all due respect, Dag, Kendrick Lamar's entire discoraphy is as timless as any older hip-hop album you've mentioend (Wu Tang, DeLa, Gang Star..) His music will absolutely age better than most modern hip-hop. You must do yourself a service and listen to his discorpahy starting from Section.80 -> Mr. Morale... Please Dag, if you truly love hip hop, you must catch up at least on HIS discography, specifically. Happy to hear you also ackkowledge how older people stop keeping up with new music and just return to the well out of habit or comfort.. I try to be mindful of this as I age, i just turned 31.. Kendrick is 100% carrying the legacy left behind by Tupac Shakur.. Meditation is supposed to be more like a workout, and very difficult at first. Once you realize that you're "training" your mind the same way you'd train a muscle, it kinda gets easier. You should do the same things you'd do with any work out, start slow (5 mins instead of 10), less frequent (2-3 times a week instead of 7), etc
