Something like this happened to a real mlb pitcher. Can’t remember his name but essentially his arm broke while throwing a pitch during a game and he fell to the ground writhing in pain. Turns out the reason his arm broke was because bone cancer had weakened the bones in his throwing arm, causing it to literally snap when he threw and his arm ended up having to be amputated. It saved his life though, his broken arm allowed doctors to diagnose him early enough that they were able to successfully eliminate and stop the cancer from spreading to the rest of his body by amputating.
@tc15142 жыл бұрын
Dave Dravecki. The arm snapped on his return from successfully treated bone cancer, I think. The treatment had weakened the bone enough that it couldn't take the torque of pitching. It's happened to other pitchers, too, though I don't remember the exact circumstances.

@@dexanwtripontidis3652 Yeah, but they hide, they are shy. I want to let them achieve the full potential modern drugs can push them to.
@insidetrip1013 жыл бұрын
I disagree. One of those leagues is going to be more desirable to be in. Its likely to be the steroid "league," which essentially forces everyone to destroy their bodies just to compete with "the best." No competitor is going to purposefully compete at a disadvantage, and its a serious problem that you're going to force someone to take steroids just to compete and make a living. If somehow you're able to fix this problem, then you just end up with the same problem. Its still going to be easier to cheat and compete in the league without steroids while using them. That's the whole point of cheating (and truthfully, even the people that aren't good enough to compete in the steroid league, will cheat by using steroids in the non steroid league even if the non steroid league pays less money). Your solution only includes a negative that you end up trying to solve, just to end up at square one with the same problem we already have. There is no positive for your solution.

@@insidetrip101 Just for the record, it's more of a joke bu to clarify: there is a lot of money in sport, money drives innovation? Where centers of profit are, there will be funding for scientific research, so essentially, it would become a technological race between corporation on who can innovate the most, and these technologies would be regulated by the a government organ which would take these information and use it to secure the drug free league. But at the end it was just a joke, abuse of these drugs would probably kill or maim these athletes before theya re 30, it would make agood show, the same way a Hunger Game would, society would be against it.

Why would the doctors present there shy away from looking at his parts when House removes the blanket? They are doctors, and they have seen it all in their 10-20 years they have been practicing and studying. They wouldn't instinctively look away as if it were something embarrassing.

Consent. They don't have consent to look at what's recognized as a sensitive area by medicine and society in general

@@kyratompsett4409 When doctors are examining a patient they don't need to explicitly ask for consent. It's pretty much implied.

I fully expected House to flip up the covers, there would be a pause, he'd flip them back over, nod & then take the case.
