Not sure about healthy. They had co-dependent/toxic (they literally would drug eachother) elements to their friendship that mutually fed the broken parts they had within themselves. That lead to their bond. It's ok to have unhealthy relationships as long as you allow for some self awareness to contemplate what it's teaching you. They tackled that in the series finale. House "dies", confronts his inner conflicts and is "reborn", allowing him to be there for Wilson in a better way. He needed to understand how to let go of control and co-dependency on Wilson in order to just be supportive of his wishes in his final days.

Why does everyone pressure people to go to funerals? Like, seriously? If I don't want to go, I have my reasons. Maybe it would be worsening instead of helping in the grieve-period as is normal, maybe I had a strained relationship with the person, maybe (as in House's case) I was even abused, maybe the person told me when he/she/they was/were still living that they do not want a funeral and I try to honor that wish, or I'm not ready yet, or whatever else there is! If I ever start to feel the need to go and say my last goodbuy, there's still the grave. It should be my decision.
@jessicabrack28464 жыл бұрын
@SauDude There are bounderies to what you are supposed to go for others. You don't send an abused person towards the abusers funeral, no matter who will feel better over it. The trauma of that person outweights it a million times. And funerals are for you to feel better after a loss. It is for your own grieve-counseling. If it would worsen your situation, you should not go. If you feel like you are betraying the dead loved-one by going, you shouldn't go. A funeral isn't for one grieving person, but for all of them. Each needs to take care of themselves right there.
@anvaryusupov82453 жыл бұрын
Maybe because some people in that way hope or make sure that other's will come to their funeral.
@joanneaugust66112 жыл бұрын
@@jessicabrack2846 Funerals are not for you to feel better. They're about the deceased, not the guests. They're about paying respects and saying goodbye to a person. Yes, they can also be a first step in your healing and grieving process, but they may also just be painful, because dying is a painful reality. If you don't like funerals (fun fact: nobody does), you only go to those of the people absolutely closest to you and that's that. Supporting your mother in this difficult time if you're an only child is 100% a solid reason to go to your father's funeral even if you weren't close to him and even if it causes you pain. I can only say this again: the funeral isn't for you to feel better. It's one of those things in life that we just gotta do even though we hate them. This is not about abuse - that's an entirely different story. You don't need to stand at an abuser's grave and play perfect family/friendship. But everyone else who had a close relationship with you certainly deserves as much as you being there for *them*, not for you.
@observantsnack63972 жыл бұрын
@@joanneaugust6611 Of course funerals are ABOUT the deceased. And of course they are FOR the living. A dead person can not appreciate their close ones attendence. You yourself used the argument about supporting the mother in this particular case. Unless a person had a specific wish about their funeral or something else that you want to respect, you're not doing them any favors, they are dead and you can't really do anything for them anymore. The argument of "it's just a thing you've gotta do" is a bit baseless, because it really doesn't answer the question "why?". Now, personally I would go to the funeral of any of the people I know should they die, but that's my choice. Among us all there is a wide array of different cultures and circumstances, so it seems only reasonable to me to consider going to ones funeral a personnal matter. (This whole argument I'm making is completely seperate from the topic of House's father's funeral).
@joanneaugust66112 жыл бұрын
@@observantsnack6397 Well, I happen to be religious and disagree with the whole "dead people don't profit from this". That wasn't the reason for my argument though. The reason was that you said a funeral is for the healing process, and that I have to disagree with. It's to show you miss the one who died or show compassion for those who suffer. I think not going to a close family member's funeral is a pretty selfish decision unless this person actually actively and malevolently hurt you. It's a) a tradition, b) a chance to sax goodbye, c) a chance to get together and talk with people, d) a sign of respect for the deceased, e) a chance to show support for others mourning, f) a chance to get free coffee and cake, g) not about (OR FOR) you Since you were quick to point out "different cultures", I should make it perfectly clear that I was talking about Jewish-Christian-Agnostic-Atheist Western culture - exactly the one portrayed on this show and the one I belong to myself. No, those are not bad arguments. The point is that whether or not the deceased notices your being there or not, a sign of respect is still a gift to them. Like saluting to a fallen soldier. No mate of theirs gets to make the decision not to be there, they will all be standing at the grave and pay their respects. To show someone whom you can't tell it to in person that their loss is tragic to you, and to show society you lost someone important - a colleague, a family member or whatever. Let it also be said that I'm not at all a fan of the patriotic militaristic American spirit, this was merely an example.
