Just listen to this. Canadian commission for human rights has recently declared Christmas a symbol of colonialism and discrimination. As a result here in Montreal everything is low key this December. We ended up with dull and dark non- illuminated streets and many businesses have even canceled their Christmas parties for employees.

Much of this started during the Blair government. He gradually but methodically watered down every government structure then he set about putting his people in high positions in our institutions. But what’s even more sad is that the conservatives have done nothing to change this!

@@PibrochPonder Being a British colony, protected us from the persecution of Chinese Communist party, we enjoyed much higher degree of freedom during British rule. British Colonial officers developed Hongkong from a fishing village to a very prosperous international city

@yipzoe3865 Hong Kong is a great example of where a population were intelligent enough and motivated enough to take onboard good ideas. Contrast this with Africa. They literally ripped up everything and sold it to the final nail.

@@jumblestiltskin1365 Hong Kong was the last major colony of UK in the last few decades of British rule, they didn't want to lose the last major colony, so they treated us very well, the elderly people with colonial memory before 1970 can tell us that the British rule was not that good but still better than Chinese Communist government. Most of us don't have the colonial momery before 1970, so our colonial experience is good.

Why am I looking at this on a day when I am already in despair at the collapse of civilization, mostly now in the intellectual and philosophical sphere but rapidly rampaging through to the street and everyday life? But don't misunderstand me: I am extremely thankful for these gentlemen and for NCF in general. My last lifeline from personal madness is the discovery of other intelligence in the universe, even if in small pockets. I'm no intellectual or brainiac, but I am a "critical thinker," a posture of mind available to nearly all of us. The perspective that underlies this conversation is NOT DIFFICULT. And yet, I feel that I live in a world of the infantile and the blind. Most of my (American) countrymen who would agree with much of what is said here are, on the other hand, wildly in support of Donald Trump. They are as unhappy as I am about all that is wrong, but their idea that such a man can be any part of the solution is insanity. I feel like I am drowning in insanity and may soon join the flood, albeit with my own particular spin, which makes all the difference (to me) but is still madness.

The world has literally become an ‘Everyone gets a Trophy State of mind,’ when will this madness be over….😢 are we seriously saying that anyone but a white person from white western civilizations needs to decide all the new rules, organize and implement new systems of govt…the worst example is asking the homeless, mentally ill and addicted to solve the problems; yes thier input is needed but are we seriously asking people who couldn’t manage to fix not only themselves but to fix the legal, medical and economic fields that are all connected to solving the issues….what are doing 😢

I think near the beginning of the video, the guest meant to say Hegel. Forgive me for making this suggestion, but many people listen to these videos rather than watching them, and perhaps a bit more attention could be paid to the audio. There was a lot of sniffing and coughing in this video. It would help enormously to kill the mic before making these noises, or fix it in post. I like the channel and agree with the post that stated need for sound quality improvement. I do wish they would stop speculating about the American population though. Most of us didn’t want to be involved with Ukraine and now 173 BILLION will be paid on the backs of American taxpayers. We are broke, no one seems to believe it or don’t care.

University will be empty soon. They capped wages at 30000 for most jobs. And you can literally learn what you need online esp in computing. Unfortunately university will start letting anyone in who is williing to pay. Plus many more foreign esp Indian students to fill the gaps as most people in this county have learnt trade or business is far more lucrative. They are making us so poor no one will go to university when they cant afford basic things like heat.

The Russians "are good people." Strongly disagree, although I acknowledge their exceptional contribution to the arts. I am a strong, unapologetic believer in ethno-national culture that is in good part genetically determined. Sure, Russia is a big place and has many great people. But there are very unfortunate characteristics of that culture that have been broadly on display, especially over the last hundred years. It I were to name one characteristic of the Russian people that stands out to me, it would be "brutal." More generously, we might call it "toughness." There is also still a strong "peasant" strain. They still have strong-man autocracy, because that's the way they want it. Russia, of course, is a vast country with diverse ethnic stock so,, like America, the ethnic swirl can change the national character over time. But, so far, Russia has kept its non-Russian populations at arms length, and I am not aware of that changing dramatically as happens continuously in America (a churn in America that has historically enriched it but looks now to be moving in the opposite direction).
