65-year-old female baseball fan here. I have enjoyed your behind-the-scenes videos about life in the majors and minors. I visited Cape Cod for the first time ever last year. It was too late for the Cape League season, but this trip got me interested in learning more about this league. I have also discovered other such leagues in the country, although it sounds like the Cape League is the best. Some relatives in the DC area have been posting lately on Facebook and Twitter about teams in the Cal Ripken League, which operates in the DC and Baltimore areas. Four of the teams are in their county, including one that plays just down the road from where they live.

You bet Matt. Cape Cod League is great stuff. Chatham is fun. 'Murca. The infield at Carlsbad High in North San Diego County is better than PetCo - which is the nicest MLB surface in the nation. West Coast Turf in Riverside County grows some nice Bermuda - Ralph at Carlsbad, grooms it like the fairways at La Costa. You could do an infield seminar at Carlsbad sometime. God Bless. ____

The one thing that struck me is that you had never had a job before your first cape cod season. Being an athlete has its challenges, but it's definitely a different life than the rest of the population.

Hey Matt, did you play (at a serious level) any sports other than baseball when you were growing up/in high school? when did you quit to focus solely on baseball? I've played hockey and baseball my whole life and I'm about the same skill wise in both, at a travel level, but I love both sports so much that I've never been able to choose one to focus solely on. Thanks and I love your videos!

Im a juco guy getting a lot of D1 interest and am hoping to get into a prestigious league like the Cape, alaska, or costal Carolina league next summer. Also is it a lot of who your coaches know or can you reach out to the program and get recruited yourself?
