Hi mam when I practise anulom...normal breathing I didn't notice any difficulty...but when I close right nostril..I find difficulty to breathe in left nostril.right nostril ok....does it mean that I have blockage at my left side of my body?

Yes… saath mein kapalabhati bhi kariye aur khane mein parhez karna padega. Agar aap surya namaskar kar sakte hain toh jaroor kariye. Aur yeh aapko roz karna hoga. Pranayama din mein do baar aur khali pet kariye.

How many times can we repeat this guided practice....can I do it for 20-30 min?...I have head ache problem

Yes you can do it for 20-30 minutes. It will help in reducing the occurrence of headache and gradually cure completely …practice Initial few rounds without breath retention and last couple of rounds, you hold the breath…

Hello Maam..hope you are well. I'd like know that if we use right thumb and middle finger while doing this , is there any restriction ? Or should do with right thumb and ring or little finger only ? Please guide me in this regard. Thanks.

Hello Haseeb…To practice Anuloma viloma, we place the right hand in vishnu mudra by folding the index finger and the middle finger to the base of the thumb and the other 2 fingers are stretched out. This mudra triggers the marma points on either sides of the nostrils. Index finger also called the pointing finger denotes ego/ anger and the middle finger represents displeasure, anger, protest, excitement etc. We control these negative emotions by folding these two fingers . More scientifically the energies of fire(thumb), earth( ring finger) and water ( little finger) are allowed to flow freely while the energies of air(index finger) and ether(middle finger)are controlled in this mudra. But i suggest , do your practice as suggested in the video. I have demonstrated what I have learnt from my Gurus and ancient yogis. Keep up with your daily practice. All your doubts will disappear when you experience it practically. Thanks much for asking :-)

@@Smitayogalife I've been doing this with my right thumb and middle finger and I didn't feel any negative effect. I think it doesn't matter what fingers you use. The only important part is breathing through one nostril at a time. What do you think ?

You may do 5-10 rounds without breath retention and 4 rounds with 8 seconds breath retention. Gradually increase the breath retention to 16 seconds.

Yes Pratibha… meditation is possible only after having a good control on the breath… yama niyama asana pranayama pratyahara dharana dhyana samadhi are the 8 limbs of yoga As you can see, meditation or dhyana is the 7th in order and after the pranayama. It’s important to be comfortable in the breath and also relaxed in the body before you start with the mindful meditation. once you are comfortable in the asana, relaxation and pranayama practice , you are of course ready for meditation during alternate nostril breathing… i hope your query is answered :-)

Mam does it work for anxiety. I have septal deviation nostril block in nose can I do this pranayam doe it work for anxiety? .

Hello Shahid… thanks for the enquiry… It will surely help in bringing down the anxiety and will gradually cure it completely. For the septal deviation, you may give it a try for a few days. It depends on the degree of deviation. If it’s too much deviated i am not sure … i too had it by birth and i used to suffer from headache but after practising this technique and also the entire sivananda sequence, i now have no suffering… i started feeling the difference in the frequency of headaches within 3 months…so i suggest kindly be patient and try it before going for surgical correction.

And after watching ur video I learnt the proper form by counting during inhaling and exhaling. Thank u for providing this video. So can I continue the pranayam in the way u said in the video mam?
