Davids right we make our anxiety ten times worst when we freak out and read into it too much.

Our approach to anxiety freaks us out. We feel anxiety is abnormal vs it is perfectly normal for most. Thanks for helping us understand that life is not anxiety free, it can't be. We need to look at it differently and understand it. There is no such thing as an anxiety free life but how we handle it matters. Thank you for these new ideas.
@drosmarinАй бұрын
thank you @aliceheiman really appreciate that summary of the talk. I'm NOT saying anxiety is easy. But I am saying that it's normal, expected, and when we embrace it anxiety can make us stronger.

thanks very much! yes, embracing anxiety (when it's not clinical) is exactly what I'm encouraging people to do. the world would be a LOT less anxious if we taught this approach in schools, media, and other institutions.

DARE, the book, was probably more useful than any one thing I can point to It's not a quick fix. Life experience is really key but if I were trying to help a young person Id try to get them to understand what's going on inside of them and it's not all bad Im thankful I can mentor my kid when it comes to this. I grew up in the 80s and if adults had a clue about this they didn't share it with me. The absolute best advice they gave was "relax". It wasn't very effective Not only did I not know what was going on, not only did i not know how to handle it, but I didn't even know there was something TO know about
