Davids right we make our anxiety ten times worst when we freak out and read into it too much.

Great job, David! This talk has made such a huge difference in my life and how I deal with anxiety when it comes up. Now I hear your voice reminding me that my anxiety is not going to kill me and I now am able to wait until it passes. Your work is life changing and I’m so thankful that you chose to share it on our TEDxReno stage!

Our approach to anxiety freaks us out. We feel anxiety is abnormal vs it is perfectly normal for most. Thanks for helping us understand that life is not anxiety free, it can't be. We need to look at it differently and understand it. There is no such thing as an anxiety free life but how we handle it matters. Thank you for these new ideas.

thank you @aliceheiman really appreciate that summary of the talk. I'm NOT saying anxiety is easy. But I am saying that it's normal, expected, and when we embrace it anxiety can make us stronger.

00:07 Distinguishing between clinical and non-clinical anxiety is crucial. 01:42 Embracing anxiety can lead to resilience and better mental health. 03:04 High anxiety levels contrast in wealthy vs. low-income countries. 04:27 Cultural perceptions of anxiety worsen emotional distress. 05:58 Embracing anxiety can enhance our mental resilience. 07:20 Confronting anxiety builds resilience and promotes meaningful living. 08:48 Confronting anxiety fosters self-compassion and resilience in an uncertain world. 10:14 Confronting anxiety can lead to personal transformation and growth. thanks very much! yes, embracing anxiety (when it's not clinical) is exactly what I'm encouraging people to do. the world would be a LOT less anxious if we taught this approach in schools, media, and other institutions.

DARE, the book, was probably more useful than any one thing I can point to It's not a quick fix. Life experience is really key but if I were trying to help a young person Id try to get them to understand what's going on inside of them and it's not all bad Im thankful I can mentor my kid when it comes to this. I grew up in the 80s and if adults had a clue about this they didn't share it with me. The absolute best advice they gave was "relax". It wasn't very effective Not only did I not know what was going on, not only did i not know how to handle it, but I didn't even know there was something TO know about

ELECTION ANXIETY now! As a Democrat, I think Democrats were AFRAID to DEBATE voters on the other side. (HARRIS and others were DISTANT from VOTERS and their concerns, and so they lost) =============== This ANXIETY talk might help in politics, too TNX (Shalom)
