Just bought this monitor, in Singapore it is one of the few available at its actual MSRP. Personally I couldn't be happier with it. My only complaint is that the "HDR" is utter garbage. Other than that it's really great and the stand is so amazing, especially because i can change my monitors positioning so easily. (You could always just buy a monitor arm, but it's great to have a perfectly serviceable monitor stand in the box). Would definetely recommend this monitor. Great job AOC!!

I bought a 24" AOC 144Hz FHD monitor as per your previous recommendations and reviews to replace my Dell Ultrasharp. The AOC seemed like a better deal (cheaper yet better performance on paper) and I must say I've made a mistake. The AOC now has ridiculous light bleed along the edges that appeared after a few months of use while the Dell's image was perfect. Playing dark games like Cyberpunk 2077 makes this defect very annoying and obvious. If some things look like a great deal on paper, it doesn't mean that they are.

It seems most manufacturers struggle to make monitors look nice. Black with red accents is an unfortunate choice. If it's done really well, it can look good, but in most cases it just ends up looking very cheap. Also, going for minimalist aesthetics is super difficult if you're using cheap materials. So finding affordable monitors that perform well and look nice, is really difficult.

TIP: When you say the name (that most of the time sounds more like a code) of a monitor, could it be possible to show it in the form of text? It would make it so much more easier to look up that specific monitor when we are watching your videos. I'm not very impressed with this monitor. AOC normally does better than this. I'm not used to this from them. (The AOC 24G2U and the 27G2U are 1080p monitors, but look more promising in terms of response times.) Something I would like to see AOC improve in is the OSD and the controls for it. I would like to see them switch to a joystick. This would probably increase the cost, but I don't think it will be more than €/$5 or max €/$10. The OSD design is also not the best and can be improved i.m.o. Thanks for the amazing monitor reviews! Can someone with some knowledge in monitors tell me why they don’t use a VA panel instead of an IPS panel? It has a better contrast and the viewing angles don’t matter because it’s monitor?
@rahiljogani48253 жыл бұрын
Dark smearing.... and much lower color gamut
@8lacKhawKtheRIPPER3 жыл бұрын
VA panels have better contrast, black levels and power efficiency etc, but they lack in almost every other aspect compared to IPS. The colors are worse and they're usually way slower in terms of response time and frame pacing which leads to noticable motion blur and smearing. That's why they usually aren't the best choice for high-refresh gaming in particular. The technology is getting better though, so maybe we'll see rather competitive panels in the near future - especially because VA panels are cheaper than IPS.
@JAYZ9993 жыл бұрын
@@8lacKhawKtheRIPPER Interesting I didn't know that. Do you know why they still use them in TVs instead of an IPS panel? especially when viewing angels are way more important for Tvs, why do they still sacrifice that for VA panels?
@8lacKhawKtheRIPPER3 жыл бұрын
@@JAYZ999 Well, it's probably a mix of the price to performance value and use case. Just because they have worse colors than IPS doesn't mean they look outright "bad" - especially because the better contrast and black levels make for a solid viewing experience - and the slow response time doesn't matter for just watching stuff on it. Combining that with the lower production cost makes for a good choice for anything that's not content creation or high-refresh gaming. I mean, the new console generation marks the 1st time that consoles offer anything past 60 fps, so there was never any need to go higher.
@TheGamerTazz Жыл бұрын

@@thenoddy7 So far, it's been really good. The monitor lives up to the refresh rate and no ghosting promise as well as the vibrant IPS colors. I did notice that there was a little bit of light bleeding on complete black screens (mostly in 2 corners), but I think that's an okay tradeoff since it is an IPS panel. The build quality is solid, even though it's mostly plastic. It's not super gamery which is nice. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Obviously, this could change in the future if the panel dies or something else, but I'm hoping that it doesn't happen. Regardless, I personally recommend it!

I just bought 2x AOC Q27T1G5 for $399 each. Excellent monitors, IPS and 5ms G to G, 2560x1440 Only issue is the red colour...over saturated but sorting it out. Perfect for what I need. 3D work, Photoshop / Lightroom and a little gaming, mainly racing games. Never had AOC before, but so far so good.
