You're pretty good at video games, but AOE is kinda complex. I think if you get a better understanding of game mechanics (how wonders work, walling, unit composition, etc.). It'll make it way easier to play the game and I think you'll enjoy it more.

Karthik Singaraju I find it very effective against AI as they tend to just throw melee units at your castle. As long as they don’t mass rams (like on this map) or trebs you’re basically safe forever.

the main issue with murder holes is it does not change your damage, so long as you always have targets to attack there is no reason to go murder holes

Well everyone keeps forgetting that human opponents will attack with their archers under the towers and castles if they are close enough. I can get that it may be a bit too costly for what it is, but it can certainly help.

i tried it like 10 times and i've only saved orange player. You have to wall him. If you are very fast maybe you could save also green, for the first attack at least, buying time for wall him as well... if you want to save both of them, and also yourself, you have to do a great use of the walls and build them quickly. Anyway i think that winning this at the first try is quite impossible... And save both of allies without walling is also impossible as well...

I built a set of 3 castles, walled up with fortified walls and went with kamayuks, slingers and onagers for this one. I have no regrets abusing the AI with murder hole castles garrisoned with 20 slingers each. Onagers kill the rams, castles kill everything else. Funnily enough I still got the "Build no walls" achievement for this mission. Thx DE. Much appreciated.

I went back to this classic Viper for some pointers to make it through this campaign myself… This is very relatable for once, I have to say! Ended up savescumming through these missions. In this particular one funneling the AI with one opening at the orange base proved really effective. A bunch of castles and production at that spot sealed the deal.

finally managed to complete it on hard today :) Wonder bit the dust multiple times, hero died left and right. Today i managed to defend the center early on with xBow and later maxed out on elite eagles. anyway, at the end you run out of res. Smart to fight with vils, din't think of that :) Humbling to see @TheViper struggle as well :)

I think the main mistake is probably not putting the first castle in one of the ally's base. One castle there and army in the other one until he can get another castle in the other base means that the units Viper has are essentially multiplied. As we've seen many times over, units don't do very well against castles, and as long you target the rams down, then it's easy.

Hey Norwegian. A good lesson to me: explore the map in all directions. I propose to kill the Chanca camp south of you immediately, so as to prevent their attack to your green ally and your back. Use your reinforcements repell the attack of Chanca on your orange ally, until, after you destroy the Chanca camp south of you, divert these forces to north-west. Build some castles towards the south until you kill the Chancas completely and the go against purple with all your foces. One at a time and always have in mind a good advice for the win: divide et impera. Never allow your enemies to unite, they will kill you, as they did now.

I done this on hard mode without any trouble with wooden fence nice protected robust eco and 100% upgrades. Although I wasn't confident about fences but it worked great, had uploaded the video on my channel on KZbin. not promoting as I haven't given link or channel name (need viper's permission) but it would be a pleasure to watch for those who want to complete it on hard mode one can do even far better than me.

I kind of want to see an all in offensive strategy like was pulled off in the last Saladin Campaign in the original campaign play through, get some siege up and just try and clean Red and Purple in a rolling deathball attack from one side to the other. Should be able to pull if off if he tryhards. It would be redeeming.

Walls aren't as important as castles. Go for Imperial with your starting resources and build your first castle next to the Green town centre. Then in front of the western red walls by the fjord. Then n0. 3 in front of the southern red town. Max out your Eagles and the AI will focus on your castles which means you can defend your wonder at a distance. As resources allow, build a second castle in front of the purple town as they are the main enemy. Be ready for their onslaught . You will need your maxed out Eagles - two armies of 20 to pincer the purple trebuchets and rams. During the game you will find plenty of time to build walls at the pinch points. This way you and your allies will survive victorious and only the Reds will occasionally invade your base if you haven't built walls.

What's difficult on Hard is the variation in the AI attacking pathways. You can postpone going for Imperial and use your initial stone and gold to immediately get two castles up - one next to the northern ally's TC and the other in front of the eastern Red enemy by the narrowest path in front of the berry bush. Eventually aim for two castles next to your two allies TC's as you progress to Imperial all full of archers. A standard castle plus eagles defence of the two allies will mean the enemies never get near the wonder and you can upgrade and build walls as and when you have resources. Converting one blue villager helps to slow Purple down.
